Didn't Sweet and some of the others win WoO races?
|
Do you honestly not understand the chart? It shows a list of how many WoO wins the drivers listed have. For example, the number 90 next to Brad Sweet's name means he has won 90 WoO features.

Considering Outlaw wins for the last 45 years have been a standard to determine the top sprint car drivers, this is interesting to compare the fields. Both series have awesome lineups for 2024.

Throw Schatz's 311 out. The last few years have been very, very lean as far as wins and the last 5 years championships. He needs Ricky back, but Rico has him now.
Let's go Sprint Car Racing!
Knoxville - Best Track In the USA!
Eldora - 2nd Best Track in the USA!

I disagree. Over the last 5 years he's had 22 WoO wins. That's more wins than everybody except Sweet has had in their whole career.
Looking into it a little further, it appears that the WoO guys have had roughly double the WoO wins compared to what the HL guys have had over the last 5 years or so.
What I think gets lost in this tribalism discussion of how *my team* has to be better than *your team* is discussion of the racing we're hoping to see. Which group do you think will put on a better show? Right now, I'd say they are pretty even in that respect, especially if HL does everything exactly the same as WoO.

Wow. That is a far cry from where Schatz used to be as far as wins. I knew he wasn't fast .....thanks for confirming that he and Eliason are equal as far as the team.

I agree Schatz isn't near what he was in his prime and Eliason has potential to surpass him and for a higher quality opponent in the near future. Even so last year when Schatz is further into his decline did Eliason not have as good of results. I just don't view them as equals yet. Maybe it's because of Donnys history. Maybe it's because Eliason can't seem to keep a consistent ride. Maybe it's because Schatz isn't as washed up as you think he is. Either way it's not a big deal and no one stays on top forever.

Schatz races with the Woo every race. Eliason only every once in a while.
|
Eliason raced 73 times last year against lesser competition and only won twice.
Schatz raced 79 times against the very best and won 5 times and won over three times the money.
Enough said, Schatz is clearly better than Eliason.

Steve Kinser used to win a lot more than he does today as well.
Let's look at something more relevant, the last 5 years. Schatz had 22 WoO wins. Eliason has had 2 WoO wins in his whole life. I think we can all agree that Schatz's career is slowing down while Eliason's is speeding up, but it will be a while before those two lines cross.

How to tell if a guy is interested in sprint car racing or is just looking for attention.

True. But, this upcoming year HL is taking teams that were a stable part of woo traveling circus. I for one say wait and see.
Brent Marks is the big name coming out of central pa. He made a lot of dollars running the schedule that he did. Many of these teams going with HL including Marks will expenses that are going to double. WoO pays double the tow money that HL is offering.
|
how much is the tow money for each series then please...
Ascot was the greatest of all time..
West Capital wasn't half bad either..
Life is good...

That is true assuming everyone enters Knoxville. I know Knoxville is a big deal but one never knows until it happens. Maybe some teams will be tired or needing shop time badly.
|
Seriously? If any of the top teams with HL decide to "rest" during National, it will be clear HL is trying to divide and monopolize winged sprint car racing. And not in the interest of fans.

They will race side x side. Knoxville, for the nationals and I'm sure a few more throughout the season. It will be interesting to see what woo does when HL teams come thru the gates.
|
Yea, this creates an interesting competition at Knoxville Nats between the 2 sanctions, kinda like Posse vs. WoO
Good fun...

They are going to do the same thing they did when Allstar teams came thur the gates. I don't see what all the commotion is about. It is last year's HL + the Allstars. Has anyone given any thought to the possibility that some of the tracks dropped could not or would not pay the increased purse HL will pay. The Alllstar purse wasn't much better than a weekly show at Knoxville and many of the Ohio & Pa. tracks, that needed to change.
|
With the addition of Sweet, Marks & Abreu, HL is clearly better than the old Allstars
