Here is a great article with someone that actually did the research.  Unlike most of the us press.

President Trump wisely has taken his first steps to reopen America, and has just as wisely reminded the nation’s governors that the ball is in their court. This is not just wise, it’s brilliant: if people are torqued at government restrictions, they will not have the president to blame. Their beef will be with their governors and their governors alone.

I’ve argued from the beginning of this manufactured crisis that far more damage will be done by the panic than by the virus. It turns out I was right. And now a prominent Israeli professor is confirming what I have said all along.

Yitzhak Ben Israel of Tel Aviv University, who is on the research and advisory board for one of the leading pharmaceutical companies in the world (Teva), has concluded that all the lockdowns, all the shutdowns, all the closing of churches, schools, beaches, businesses, restaurants, and parks was nothing more than economy-destroying madness. It has all been unnecessary because coronavirus runs its own course no matter what governments do or do not do.

Professor Ben Israel plotted the rates of new coronavirus infections in the U.S., the U.K., Sweden, Italy, Israel, Switzerland, France, Germany, and Spain - the countries that most resemble the United States in culture and governing structure. He discovered an amazing and even astounding thing. It didn’t matter whether a country pursued a severe incarceration-in-place policy like Israel, or went about business as usual like Sweden, coronavirus followed precisely the same pattern. In the words of columnist Medina Melvin of Townhall, “coronavirus peaked and subsided in the exact same way. In the exact, same, way.” (Emphasis mine.)

Dr. Ben Israel’s research showed that all countries experienced identical patterns of disease progression. Infections grew steadily, even exponentially, until they peaked in the sixth week, and began to rapidly subside by the eighth week.

Israel has imposed strict quarantines. It does not allow residents to even leave their neighborhoods to buy food. Beyond that, they are only permitted to leave their homes for essential work and medical care.

These restrictions applied even during Holy Week, when just a handful of worshipers were allowed at the Western Wall (the holiest site in Judaism) during Passover, and Easter Mass was performed at a nearly empty Church of the Holy Sepulcher, built on the site where Jesus was crucified.

In Stockholm, by stark contrast, cafes and restaurants are open. Kids are going to school and to soccer practice. Parks are full. Sweden, in other words, is open for business. People are practicing some social distancing, and gatherings of more than 50 people have been suspended.

But the disease has followed the same arc in both places, which means Israel - and the United States - locked everybody down for no good reason.

Professor Ben Israel says the virus follows its own fixed pattern, which is not dependent on how much or how little freedom citizens are permitted to enjoy. “There is a decline in the number of infections even [in countries] without closures, and it is similar to the countries with closures.” While the “expansion (of coronavirus infections) begins exponentially” it “fades quickly after about eight weeks,” for reasons still unknown to epidemiologists. The virus seems to have its own life cycle.

Italy has an unusually high mortality rate, but Ben Israel attributes that more to Italy’s substandard health system, which also collapsed in 2017 because of the seasonal flu.

The professor believes this evidence - actual evidence and data, not the projections of some model - indicate that there is no need for either quarantines or economic closures.

So what’s behind all the quarantines and lockdowns? Said Professor Ben Israel, echoing my words from the very beginning of this crisis, “I think it’s mass hysteria. I have no other way to describe it. 4,500 people die each year from the flu in Israel because of complications, so close the country because of that? No.”

Remember that our own mass hysteria was triggered by Dr. Fauci running to President Trump with the hysterical predictions Professor Neil Ferguson of the UK. Ferguson projected that 2.2 million Americans would die from coronavirus. That number has now been ratcheted down, by the University of Washington model Dr. Fauci now embraces, to about 61,000, the number of Americans who die in a bad flu season. Ferguson has now reduced his projected death toll in the UK to 20,000, just four percent of his original prediction.

Ferguson predicted in 2001 that mad cow disease would kill 150,00 in the UK. The actual death toll? One hundred and seventy-seven. Why anybody gives Ferguson’s numbers any credibility at all, let alone histrionically closes down the most successful economy in history, is one of the mysteries of the ages.

So, the Israeli professor has demonstrated that our coronavirus closures were a disastrous, colossal, catastrophic mistake. Americans have lost jobs and businesses because of this, and some of those jobs and businesses may not come back for a long time. It will take us a decade to repair the damage we have done in just one month of cravenly surrendering to panic and fear.

Here’s hoping - and praying - that every governor in America will reopen his state so that America can get back to being America again.

Where you're incorrect, is that the virus "runs its own course no matter what governments do or don't do"

No one will argue that this virus is going to run through the entire population.  But, they have slowed it down-----that has been proven----which allows for our health care system to be better prepared.  How?  Emptying the hospital of flu patients that had filled many beds across the land, and building up supplies.

This thing is going to run through every community in America.  The "shutdown" was not to end the virus breakout---it was to get all of your local hospitals prepared.

So, you're partially right.  We aren't going to stop it and it's going to run through the population.  You're wrong in saying we should have let it go and not attempted to slow it down through mitigation.  That's not being fair to your neighbor who is the nurse, doctor, or paramedic.

Oh, and by the way, the Israeli "expert" also refers to Italy's subpar healthcare system.. Italy has the #2 ranked healthcare system in the world.  (according to the W.H.O.)

Freedom to worship as I wish... hmmm well I can't. Less than 10 people doesn't work for my church so back to square one. My rights have been taken away.

The curve flattened when the number of tests flattened.

I don't need laws to protect me from "myself." Intellects call that Darwin awards or natural selection. Let me do as I wish without harming others.

Nick I'm having fun with you. In person you'd see my responses are well thought out and respectful but also in jest As we view this very differently. But everything I have written I pretty much do believe and stand behind. Right or wrong is to be seen, but please do honestly keep an open mind about things and I will do the same.

I'll end with one of OUR responsibilities: Respect the rights, beliefs, and opinions of others. Smile

Going to church is a strictly elective thing. If everyone is ok with it and the risks involved why can't we? I feel like I'm beating a drum here so I must stop or at least slow down with my posts. (Sorry have way too much time right now). Most people not in the sparsely populated Midwest are against me but they should realize that it's not a one size fits all. Our hospitals are empty. I mean empty. Medical staff here and there are getting hours cut and/or laid off. Most counties that touch my county have zero cases. So my church and myself have been very cooperative so far. But for how long is enough. It is of our opinion that man was made to worship together. That's why we care. I know this isn't the belief of many but certainly of some. Please just respect that and understand though it means little to some it means a lot to others. These are serious sacrifices for all people in different ways. After reading many reports lately you just start to wonder how much longer is for our betterment and how much longer is for our demise.

well, my wife just tested positive for covid19. i just had cancer surgery 10 days ago,so i'm probably positive, too. waiting for the doctor to call. i live in the country and worked for a farm service for 3 yrs until i retired. i am also a christian, but my church closed and now we do services online. just because you're not sick dosen't mean that your not infected. now i have adult children that are getting info from the internet thathink they don't have to quarintine. all because of political bs from people that think this is a liberal "plot" or whatever your leanings are. are your parents or grandparents still alive? do you love them? then, speaking from experience, take this seriously. as to iadirt, bet you had an agronimist check your land to help you maximise yeild. he then used science to tell you what you need as far as nutrients, he did that with science. so, your gut feeling is more political than factual. please, everybody, listen to the people that are educated on this for what we, as a society need to stop this

Best wishes to you and your wife and the rest of your family. Hopefully the doctor can give you some good suggestions as to what to do to keep both of you healthy. Stay strong.

When people say the flu kills 30,000 to 40,000 people per year, why do they not include how many people get the flu every year?  I heard one doctor say 40,000,000 people get the flu every year on average in the United States.  If  we let the current virus go and do not try to slow or stop it, and 40,000,000 people get it, at the rate it is killing people right now there will be 2,000,000 people dead in the United States.  The rate that this virus kills people is way faster than the flu and that is what scientists are worried about, not a political agenda.  We will be past the 40,000 deaths today in a little more than a month.  I heard one "well informed" protester say she would rather die than to live like this, now that is just ridiculous.  Give up the next 30-40 years left in your life for 2-3 months of isolation.

Question I have.  All deaths now are said to be covid19 related.  Why is that?  Why is there so many fewer cases of the common flu?  Everything is not covid19 related they just want to bump up the numbers to scare everone.

I am not saying open everything up.  Let the people that want to work go to work and if you don't feel confortible to go to work then don't.  Give the people an option to work or not.  Yes, I think they should do everything and wear everything we can to protect ourselves from the virus.   That is common sense but it isn't very common anymore.

There would not be 2 million deaths in the USA if they didn't do a shutdown.  They were trying to scare peopl into doing what they wanted them to do.  If we wait until people stop dieing from covid19 the shutdown will last for at least a year.  Thanks to the dummycrats....I meant to say democrats.

Fauci has yet to be correct in any of his charts/predictions.  I am not surpirsed at all.

Why aren't we keep track of the suicide jump in American right now?   Gee, I wonder why they aren't covering it.  I guess it doesn't fit what they are trying to push down our throats.

Yes, you can't handle the truth.  The truth of the matter is the government way overstepped it bounds.  They are so far out of bounds it is pathetic!!   LET PEOPLE GO TO WORK.  OPEN UP BUSINESSES!!   There are ways to be safe and also letting people go to work.

I work with a good number of people that have not missed a day onsite since all the shutdowns.  We are a essential business.  We have taken precautions in order to keep we the workers, safe.
