Some of the posts here are amazing. Where the hell does all this hatred and jealousy come from. So a guy who has been racing sprints for 15 or 30 years or whatever and has crappy equipment but beats Ray Evernham, that's all it takes to bash the hell out of the guy---and his wife. I think Erin Crocker won a WoO feature and she apparently sucks too. Get a life fellas. The Schatz bashing I can understand what with his domination the previous 4 years, but EVERNHAM?

I have nothing against Ray running 305 sprints or even spending $20,000+ for his motor. I do take exception to Knoxville changing the 305 rules this year and making what was supposed to be an economy racing class into another race series of "who can outspend who".

BTW, I have the motor we used in our only appearance at Knoxville to finish well ahead of Evernham for sale at less than 1/2 of $20,000+. And it's FRESH!

I agree with azteca. The last thing we need is two more sprint cars in our field at Knoxville, especially people who are popular with the fans coming from far away! ...and they enjoyed themselves, all the more the crime!

Some one must have logged in and altered my post ....

I don't see where I WROTE any such thing or even IMPLIED the above ...

I am happy for any extra cars the track can get ... I hope both Evernham's enjoyed themselves ..... for what he spent .... you'd sure hope so ...

Just keep being a little league baseball coach and a teacher.... a slick lawyer you'll never make ...

attempting to alter readers opinions (with innuendos's and untrue quotes) of what I or others ACTUALLY write in our posts ...just isn't your forte'

These posts are amazing. I get accused of having crappy equipment and bashing somone esle when I had nothing to do with this post. When it is far from that. Granted I don't spend $20,000 on a motor. But I have seen ten times worse equipment at the track then what I have. I never said a word about Everham and he's not the only one with a $20,000 motor. There are many who have high budget motors. I can tell you if I could afford it I would have one also. I enjoy racing so that is what I do. If I didn't want to run with $20,000 motors I would just stay home. I unlike others will not hide behind my computer. Mitch Alexander

I hope you don't think I was trying to imply you have crappy equipment or weren't worthy of being a driver.

I just know some of your other family members who (like you) are doing the racing thing for the love of the sport, buying used stuff, fixing bent parts or wheels and bargain priced good used tires, not to feed their ego.

We hope your type never stays home ..... you are what the blue collar fans in the stands come to cheer for and love it when you guys are successful.

And I think if you, Stacy or Terry in his day had a extra 20 grand given to you guys to spend on an engine ... you'd be in the 360 or even the 410 class trying your hardest and enjoying life to it's fullest.

Didn't mean to drag you in this ....I just know you guys do it for a whole lot less than 'some' and thought you were a great example of what the 305 class was supposedly being promoted as.

People, stop fooling yourselves. For the ones posting here who have worked, owned or driven a car, if you hit the Powerball, you would have an operation that would make TSR look like Robert Bell's (this is not a slight against Robert). Racing is like living, you do what you can within your means.

Amen brother amen ....and it also goes for some (that have done none of the above) that are just working class stiffs that enjoy sprint car racing over any kind of spectator sports that are available on TV or in person.

Its always about money. They had the 305 club I think it was based in Ottumwa, Ia. Had quite a few cars, traveled around to different tracks and had fun and a lot of guys who use to run Knoxville but couldn't seem to afford the expensive motors in the 360 class went to the 305's to race and have fun. A long time agoit used to be affordable in the 360 class at Knoxville but somebody had the brainy idea to open it up a little with aluminum heads and whatever other more expensive parts they could put on them. Used to be all steel motors, heads etc. Used to be all steel in the 410's also but they always let the racers have more. Ralph seen all the 305's out there and seen all the money slipping thru his hands so he decided to cash in on some of the money but we will change the rules a little and let them run a dry sump and whatever else then they will stick with me and race Knoxville and they will be illegal to run the other series. So here we go had a good thing going and they ruin another good series. Car counts are down again in the 305's. Can't leave a good thing alone, somebody always has there hands out.

I pretty much agree with what you are writing .... A very smart promoter (I think he was anyhow) told some of us years ago (like 10) wet sumps ONLY in the 305's nothing but a mag (no MSD type ignitions) and if you're gonna run wings .... make the rules for wings the same as the Knoxville bigger classes EXCEPT a shorter sideboard height on both top and nose.

I think he said like 6 inches on the top wings and maybe 2 inches I think on the nose (so your 305 guys can buy the bigger classes 'cast offs' and spend no money except a little labor to trim em down.

Make the tire rule same as to what ever the bigger Knoxville classes are running so the 305's can buy some nice used tires from local bigger teams or some barely used when the Outlaws come thru.

Seems like he talked to us about some other stuff but what he said made sense about big horsepower engines don't like wet sumps (won't live for long) and it is way cheaper to build a wet sump engine in the first place.

The lack of down force from the smaller sideboard wings makes the need for more horsepower somewhat less needed too.

He was a buddy of some guy that retired from Deere in Ottumwa as they were talking out in front of the NSCHoF during the week of the Nats seems like it was in the late 90's or early 2000's or so.

Both were telling us claiming engine rules weren't the answer, just write sensible, visible, easily teched engine rules (without having to tear down) and don't let the 'lobbyists' take the rule book over.

How was Ray feeding his ego

Looked to me like he was just having fun racing with us low lifes

Does anyone realy know what his engine cost

I think Ray shoud give away all his money and be poor and then race so he could be real.

After reading the posts I can see why he has more money

don't you realize tha Ray paid 20,000 for the same RaceSaver motor that we pay 8,000 for or build ourselves for 3500.00. He got ripped off because he's Ray Evernham.. He is helping with the economy.

Who cares how much he paid for it if it is legal???

Does that make it more clear? Once again, who is "their"? You said someone was feeding their ego, and the post is about Everanham. You are the ones who seems to have a problem with him racing. Do you really know how much he has in his motor? Just because he is a Nascar guy, does not mean he has the latest and greatest in his car. He is a track owner after all. He is out trying to have fun, and guys like you seem to have an issue with it.

But of course, you will come back and try to tell us that you never said that.

" I think Erin Crocker won a WoO feature and she apparently sucks too."

I was the WoO shooter at the show she won at Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare Cali. She won it "fair and square" running against the best in the business.

The next night the track went "rubber down" and she looked to have a repeat win until the RR popped! After her win, the Vic Lane interview went something like - - "Some people are saying she drove her a$$ off but," --- (He turned her to look at the back of her) then said, "I don't agree, she still has a beautiful A$$!" An evening few will ever forget!
