That is interesting as I am going to do a retro Sammy as well and my first thought was Channellock, butTMC was second choice.  Thanks

Being a Knoxville regular, watching Mike Brooks race, probably influences my reasoning on the TMC over Channellock.

Kinser in all of his prime & glory would be a 1987 Coors Light Gambler. But that car doesn't have the most attractive lines with that big ol' Karl Kinser log splitter-turd hood. wink  I'd settle for a happy medium of old school/ modern with a 1994 Valvoline livery.

For most it seems like what car they first saw him driving,

so for me, the Kinser Bros White #11. Back when they ran both wing and non-wing shows.

Wish they would go back to that. Shows the true talent of the drivers.

I think either Valvoline or QS car for Kinser. I was younger in the late 80s early 90s and that's when I remember him being the most dominant. Now that I think about it, was Valvoline AFTER QS?

I loved that Red Brooks Trucking car that Mike use to drive.  His Trucks were always pretty sharp too!

Don't know if "Blue Horizens" were Brooks trucks but never cared for them.

I have the same thought as you. Steve in the all green Quaker State car and Sammy in the Channellock car. When I first started watching sprint car races on the old TNN channel back in the late 90s it was those two cars that were always etched into my head.

I've always been fond of Sammy's Old Milwaukee paint scheme from the mid eighties. Not quite goldilocks but the Moeller Bros car and rig were pretty sharp too, those were some fancy set ups then. I might not be as big of a fan as some on here but I've heard about and read about Mike Brooks and I don't live anywhere close to that area..

Personally I think of the Quaker State car.  However I think it's amazing that the car (or sponsor) that many people associate with him, he didn't start driving until 17 years after he won his first championship.  Is there anyone in any professional sport who was the man to beat as long as he was (I consider him the man to beat from 1978-2005 or 28 years)?

That's a good question.  For me it is the all green Quaker State car of about 1995 (?).  I'll be interested to see what others favor.

One of my favorite photos taken by Mike Nelligan. He once said he had sold a bunch of this shot.

Both drivers hard on the gas

Those are the two I decided on doing for Sammy and Steve.  I am also working on a painting of side by side 1990 Bobby Allen car and Jacob's retro paint job of that car, all on one canvas.  Looks pretty good so far.  I will have a Sweet, Sheldon, Schatz, Sammy, Steve, Schuchart, 4 of Larson, Courtney, Brown, Dewease, Gravel, Macedo, and possibly Kahne. I will be looking to sell these as I finish them and if I have any left by Knoxville, I willbring them there.  Thanks for your input

no. QS was after he came back from Nascar.

The picture posted by rolldog and others is, in my sprint car view, the greatest sprint car picture ever. Wheels up, side by side, and two of the all time greatest drivers.  AND two of the all time best colors.  I had a large framed one, "REALLY LARGE". on my garage wall, now on my son's garage wall. Both signed by the drivers, a few inches under the signatures on the cars.  Special order from that guy at Knoxville who has tons of booklets to look thru..
