Logan is better off attracting sponsors to the Shark team than to race for CJB.

There's something to be said for the security

Agreed.  And with Logan at Shark Racing, Jacob is also out on the road.  Not sure if the team survives if Logan goes elsewhere.

Look Shane has as about as many fans as this thread will actuall participate and is it not time to look at CJB as a bad team that had a good driver AKA "Gravel" and pissed him away. Shane never had a chance in that car and frankly is not a Woo caliber driver. Truth has been spoken now start the bashing of me to raise the thread count up to make it look like Shane has fans. When did anybody ever see a Shane Stewart shirt all year in the stands? Dont lie?

What kind of nonsense are we spouting here? Not a WoO caliber driver? Despite "never having a chance in that car" he's mid-pack in WoO points, better than teams like the 17, 18 and 19. Are they not WoO caliber drivers either? Can you only count the number of WoO caliber drivers on one hand? Seems like it given your definition.

Shane is a clear step behind the top guys but to state he's not a WoO caliber driver is silly. "Truth has been spoken now start the bashing of me" - yeah, you're gonna get bashed because your opinion here is a bad hot take.

Agreed. Without the talent Logan brings to Shark Racing I feel that family team would fold up pretty quick. Would prefer to see Gio or Tim Shaffer in the CJB #5.

Now I'll preface this by saying I'm not necessarily a Shane Stewart fan if that is defined as someone who wears his shirt or follows his social media. However, I respect damn near every driver who has the balls to wheel one of these monsters and to say he isn't a WoO caliber driver is a justifiably insane.  That poster obviously has a gripe with him and that's that. 5 car is a damn good ride, I mean just a few years ago Gravel had an unreal season there and, even though I'm a fan of Gravel (I have 3 shirts of his so it's confirmed) I know that season was due to the team AND him.  I hope Shane lands on his feet.

Through reading between lines on this topic elsewhere. ...Brent Marks in the 5 in 2020. That's my guess...we shall see.

+1 on Tim Shaffer

Wins big races...check

Consistent...check

Wants to be on the road with the Outlaws...who knows

Not to sound like a jerk, but Brent Marks is a big step backwards from Shane Stewart

I don't disagree with ya, I was just reading between lines of what I've seen elsewhere. At the same time , I don't think we've gotten to see Brent shine yet. Reading another statement from CUB they did say something concerning possible second car with 60 to 70 races...Tim in that maybe as a mentor?  I agree though, I think Tim Schaefer would be a great fit there and if I had the car he'd be towards the top of my list.

If I had to choose one or the other... I'd pick Gio tho. Shaffer will most likely find an ASCoC ride which means I'd get to see him race in person more often... Gio on the other hand will probably be in NASCAR in a few years so I'd be more curious to see what he could do on the WoO tour.

Any coincidence that Tanner Thorson was in a CJB car at Knoxville?  He seems like he'd make good sense if there's going to be a car that runs 60-70 races, considering there's already a relationship.

This doesn't seem like a program that wants to develop a driver on the Outlaw tour, so I'd expect a veteran in the seat next year.  Madsen makes sense because of the Go Muddy/Big Gam relationship.  Marks may not be the best fit, but he'll run the balls off the car and has a PA tie.  What about Aaron Reutzel?

Shaffer is badass, best available for that ride by far but can anyone confirm that he would be interested in being out on the road full time?

Probably a rental on that 2nd car for the nationals

Jackson is a hard headed individual . Logan doesn't have to get into that mess.

It's going to be real tough for Stewart to find another WoO ride since he has been pretty much let go from his last 2 rides and that there is not a lot of or if any open seats waiting to be filled. I bet it didn't help his situation in the CJB ride when he messed up the restart last Friday and threw away that win, plus what happened on his qualifying nite heat race during the Nationals.  Plus there is not as many car owners out there any more that want to spend money running up and down the road with no money to be made.

Interesting comment from Stewart about the cars being tighter than he was used too. You would think they would set up the car the way the driver wants it and not force him to adapt to the car.

How about this whole team just forming into 1 team......Tod Quiring...CJB....Kerry Madsen....Barry Jackson.....

Ever think they will take the 5 and the 2 and form 1 team and go outlaw tour with Kerry?

Bingo. Every Good crew chief sets a car up to suit his or her driver. Bad crew chiefs set the car up how they think it needs to be set up and hopefully the driver can make it work.

Now, that is not me saying that a "Bad" crew chief is not a smart crew chief, everyone who is labeled as a crew chief is a smart person when it comes to working with the racecars, and they know what needs to be done, the key is doing the right things to fit your driver and not simply your ideas and ego. When I was racing 305 cars, I would do things to my racecar almost weekly that I would not even think of doing today for the driver I am helping. I like a tight racecar, he does not like a tight racecar. That is the nature of the beast and as a mechanic, who has worked with a few different drivers, I have taught myself that I need to sometimes let go of my ideas on what needs to be done to focus on what I can do to make my driver comfortable. It is not an easy thing to do, but that is what separates good from great. Not trying to sound like I'm pumping my chest, because I am far from a top caliber crew chief and I will admit to that, but even I know that setting my drivers car up like I would have liked to drive it, would only make him and myself look like fools.

*Edit* I should have said, "Good" crew chiefs and "Great" crew chiefs. "Bad" was probably the wrong choice of wording, but I will leave it as it still explains my meaning.

Just a few observations.....the CJB team was sort of out on an island by themselves this year (not that there was anything wrong with trying to get an edge). They are the only Woo team to build their own in house chassis (although no one should question Barry's mechanical ability or knowlege as the former owner of JEI chassis).....but they also went with a new engine builder, Gray Motorsports(of NHRA Pro Stock fame) out of NC after years of running Kistler built engines. Maybe these decisions helped factor into their sub par performance this season. Barry will now over see Kerry Madsen for the next few weeks in Central Pa. But far as I know, the #2 teams runs a Maxim chassis and their engines are Brian Morrison built (former Charlie Garrett employee) out of Pa....It will be very interesting to see what shakes out for both of these teams in 2020.

Interesting indeed as well. Just as an outsider it does seem like the route they are going is merging both teams into 1. At least at first glance right now and making fun monday morning quarterback conversation. The other interesting thing about these 2 teams will be the sponsorship. I know Tod Quiring Sold Maintstream Holdings earlier this year but I am not sure how that will effect both teams as I am not sure how much of a say he has on the sponsorship & team side. I don't know if he is still with the company and if so in what capacity and how much say he has when it comes to the race teams. I hope both continue in some capacity.

Oddly enough I remember towards the end of the 2013 season, Shane Stewart was probably one of the hottest "free agents" in the sport. The 2 rides that everyone had said he had an offer from was the Larson Marks car (which he took) and the #2 car for Tod Quiring (Lasoski ended up getting the ride). Wonder if both teams stay together if drivers end up just flip flopping seats.

I could be wriong, but I thought Todd sold Big Game Treestands and Go Muddy to a company out of Texas but still owns Killer Instinct Crossbows and they remain based in Minnesota. I am not a hunter so I could be off base on this information.
