Awe geeze! You're being a little tough on group #2. Next you're going to say they want all their music to come to them free online. Where will that lead? $1.50 beer would be Milwaukee's Best and that's just too nastly to even contemplate.

I'm in group 1. And get off my lawn!

wink

All valid points hardon

2 and 6.  I would gladly pay an additional $20 for my family to go to the races if that meant a better purse and safety improvements we can all see----but that is only my opinion.

4.  Was trying to point out no one wants a pay cut.  Why would tracks and promoters take pay cuts to pass on the savings as everyone seems to want when there's no way the average fan would ever do the same?

9.  That was my point.  Its a resounding theme that this era of sprint car racing is weak and watered down.  My point is if you got into sprint car racing back then, you should still be enjoying it because only the names have changed.

10.  There are some changes in sports that are ridiculous.  NFL's new sack rule for example.  However, when leagues across America make some of the other changes I see, they are trying to attract the new A.D.D. crowd someone else in this thread eluded to.  NHL looking for ways to increase scoring.  NFL looking for ways to protect the QB and let receivers run free.  A couple of examples.

Thanks for your clarification.

2 and 6.  As I've gotten older I've tried to be smarter with my money (at least I think I am lol).  Part of the problem is my wife does not believe in eating before we go to the races add to that the cost to drive and me or the wife having a beer or 2 and it's well over $100 to go to the races.  We always have a good time at the races but that's a lot of money.  However if the raise in admission goes to safety, I'm all for it.  Like I said before, I could care less about the purse, I want to see a good race, or lots of big names.  Likewise that's my opinion too, doesn't mean either of us are wrong.  However it is a business, I completely understand the need for increased admission, I do NOT complain about it, as long as I can afford it or it's something I'm willing to pay I'll be there otherwise I'll just stay home.

4.  This is the one where I was most confused.  How you worded it in this post makes sense and I completely agree with you.  It is a business and the promotors aren't going to do this for free.  It's like a conversation I had with the salesman I bought my truck from, he's a family friend and numerous people in my family have bought many vehicles from him.  I was telling him about my experience buying a car elsewhere and how I left pissed off and I thought the things this guy did, everyone did.  He then said "No no no, most people won't do what we do but we're looking to build our business and we want you to tell all your friends to buy from us and buy your future vehicles from us."  I told him how I certainly don't want him getting screwed in the deal either and I hope he makes good money on me because next time I need a vehicle I want him to be there.  Same thing with the race track, I hope the promotors make money, then there will continue to be races and there should be constant improvements to the tracks.

10.  This is kind of off topic from the original post but I'll bring it up anyway.  Lord knows there are safety issues out there and I'm glad there hasn't been a knee-jerk reaction to make changes just because "something needs to change".  That's how you get these stupid rules in all sports.  Since you bring up the sack rule, last year Aaron Rodgers gets hurt.  The best player in the NFL is out for the season (I'm a Vikings fan so that pains me to say that lol), something needs to change right?  Now we end up with this ridiculous sack rule that almost makes it impossible for defenders to play.  Again I'm all for safety but this is plain stupid, coincidently I do find it kind of funny that the rule was put into place because of Rodgers and it has hurt the Packers more than anyone else so far.  Another one is the stupid inside line you can't cross at Daytona or Talladega.  Dale Earnheardt died partially because of another car hitting the lower side of the track where the banking changes, something has to change right?  Now you have this stupid rule that has added another safety concern.

Agree, agree, and agree.

Your two points about the NFL and crossing the line at restrictor plate races are two VERY GOOD examples.  Knee-jerk reactions that cause more problems than they fix
