Prayers for Jason and family!  One of the worst wrecks I've seen.

A family relative posted on Facebook about 20 minutes ago that he passed away.  Sadly it appears legitimate.  RIP #41.  What a horrible blow for his wife as she was Kevin Gobrecht’s girlfriend when he passed away in late 90’s.  She met Jason shortly after that per her open red interview just this week.

Do you have a link to that? Nothing on Twitter so I'm holding out hope.

Nevermind, he's passed. RIP.

Yeah after I posted that it hit twitter. What an awful thing to happen. Great driver, sounds like he was an even better man.

RIP from central Pennsylvania.

Jason Johnson was a great addition to the local tracks the year he spent driving the Kline No. 22 in Pennsylvania.

Absolutely awful. Thoughts are with Bobbi and the rest of the family. A good person like that shouldn’t have to go through this twice.

We as fans know that heavy weight we carry in our stomach when we first witness or hear about those kind of wrecks. Just hoping and wishing for the sake of the family that we don’t have another ”one of those mornings”. Yet, I’m guessing I’m not the only one staring at my coffee because even just a couple tears makes it too bitter this morning.

I agree completely, and it makes me sick too.   There are a good number of tracks that have safety issues like this.  In many cases it's spectator fencing that isn't safe.    In other cases it's an issue that affects the drivers, like this one.   I remember the accident in 1989 that killed Ron Hughes Jr. out at Devils Bowl.   This was another case of a cage impact on top of a concrete wall.   I've always thought that a fence on top of the concrete might have saved his life.

Absolutely heart broken right now. Jason was a bad ass. Great driver and a great human being. RIP#41. I hope this incident makes the WoO start taking a serious look at the safety of the facilities they race.

I knew that Jason Johnson's wife, Bobbi,  was a central Pennsylvania girl, but I didn't realize until this morning that she was also Kevin Gobrecht's fiancee when he was killed at Greenwood, Nebraska, in September 1999. That is just awful. The couple had planned to marry in November of that year.

Here is an article that references Jason Johnson's wife, Bobbi, being Kevin Gobrecht's fiancee at the time of his death. The linked article is a sad one that talks about Gobrecht's fiancee at the track on the night was killed.

Just now heard the news. Such a terribly sad deal. I never met the man but he seemed to always be one of the happy ones. Continued prayers for the family.

No problem. The article is pretty poignant is light of what happened Saturday night. Like I wrote earlier, I am from PA and did not even realize that about Johnson's wife.
