I'm actually surprised Dietrich has struggled as much as he has. He almost won a race at Waynesfield last year and the Posse usually does very well at Sharon.

1600, I am in daily contact with a guy travelling with the team and they have had some bad luck this week. They also haven't drawn a qualifying number lower than their car cumber (48) which is a killer with as many cars as they have been getting. He compares the fields they have seen this week as almost as tough as a qualifying night at the Nationals which seems fairly accurate ass there are many Outlaw Winners running OH Speedweek. Here's hoping he gets a low pill tonite, qualifies well and runs up front at a track which produces some great racing these days, Fremont.....

Not trying to to start any contoversy or take sides (I'm a Posse fan but not a fanatic), still just curious why Ohio SW draws more cars? opinions?

At the Waynesfield SW race they qualified with the cars in their heat race. What am I missing....doesn't that format eliminate the potential of a bad (high number) pill draw?

Pehaps, this year at least, with Tony Stewart buying and running the All Stars teams felt confident that they wouldn't get screwed as in years past. It has been great .... several Australian drivers, two in from Texas, two from PA. Ohio SW has been one of the best in years so far.

larsonfan, funny you mentioned that race, the one comment i found when I went back through my text messages about that place was, 'we made a boo boo', lol. I know they've had a rock break something, been run over a couple of times and just had some bad racing luck as well but they have stuck it out all week long. Here's hoping things turn around for them tonite....

Yes , all All Star races are group qualifying. So the pill draw really doesn't affect too much.

UNFORTUNATELY THIS YEAR IT LOOKS LIKE WEATHER WILL BE THE MAIN TOPIC LOOKING AT LONG RANGE FORCAST MONDAY LOOKS LIKE THE BEST DAY OF THE WEEK,IF ANY OF THE FIRST THREE ARE CANCELLED THEY SHOULD USE MONDAY AS A RAINDATE. I KNOW ITS NOT SCHEDULED BUT WITH ALL THE FANS FOLLOWING THEY WILL HAVE TO PASS THE GROVE AND LINCOLN ON THE WAY TO GRANDVIEW.
I would hate to see it become a two race series like the late models did.

Disagree....if you're stuck in the 4th or 5th flight, qualifying times are usually much worse than the first three flights. So, if you don't finish in the top 2 in your heat and get in the dash, but finish 3rd or 4th and qualify for the A, you're starting near the back of the field for the feature. Significantly reduces your chances of getting the win or a good finish.

Good question.... wonder why that is?
seriously, not trying to start anything

Partly because of the number of car owners that have stopped fielding teams over the past couple of years and overall lack of $$$. Also, I believe (correct me if I'm wrong) that Ohio only has 305's to compete for 410 ownership, but Pa has 305 and 358/360. I'm thinking that if Pa didn't have 358/360, some of those teams would be fielding 410's. Example...Campbell #16 runs a very competetive 358 regularly...bringing out a 410 for some big shows with the Wildchild in the seat. It's quite possible they would field a 410 full time if not for the 358 class.

Ohio has the NRA that runs 360s. Ohio also have a contingent of NW cars that run Waynesfield weekly.

Totally agree. A good handling/driving car is all thats needed on small tracks/bullrings. If you want to be competetive on the "big" tracks you had better bring a big horse to ride.
PS: If Sheldon comes to PA he likely wont even make an A main. Hope the AllStars have provisionals. (Disclaimer: This is only to get under MSPN's skin) I hope they all tow in... the more the merrier.
