I'm 53 years old and I'm firmly aware of that Sammy's fist year with the WoO, was the first year of the WoO.....But what about the fact that at that same age, Larson has won in every type of car he's sat in, with the exception of Cup, which he won Rookie of the Year at 22 years old?

And at that time there were no open wheel racers given much of a chance. They are today. Name a driver from the mid 70s til mid 90s that were given much a chance. I guess Gordon in 92.

sammy may be a "blind old man" but he was riggt about one thing. Larson sure does tear up a lot of equipment. All those who say he may be better or whatever. Prime vs. prime I don't think there is any question as to who was better. Sammy was definitely smarter and more innovative and didnt tear up equipment. It's easy to drive the wheels off when you're not the one paying for the wheels. Bottom line, the answer to what people argued about after the chili bowl is that Larson is famous and has a bit of an ego now. Everyone told him how good he was and I bought into it as well. But. I, along with a lot of other people, were wrong. The kid isn't that good. I'd take sammy, kinser, Dave Blaney, Doug Wolfgang, brad Doty, any day. Any race.

Well, while he might not have exactly set the world on fire yet, who knows what Kenny Irwin would have accomplished had he not been killed.

Well, now we all know for certain that your out of your damn mind. The reason people dislike Sammy with an unmatched passion is because of 1) his ego 2) he's an asshole 3) his total lack of respect for fellow racers and his willingness to destroy THEIR equipment

Yep he is a pretty saintly fellow that poor old misunderstood Slammy.

Cheers!
