From our Facebook page....

Based on recently published comments that were degrading to certain drivers with a long and rich tradition of supporting Jacksonville Speedway, we just informed the leadership of the All Star Circuit of Champions that they will no longer be co-sanctioning our May 15th Sprints Gone Wild event at Jacksonville Speedway

This should not affect the quality of the show in any significant respect as we will still be paying $5,000 to win and will still have both the National Sprint League and MOWA sanction along with the participation of some additional big name drivers we hope to announce shortly. Among those who have confirmed their plans to attend that are not aligned with either sanction is Danny Smith, who was the subject of the comments in question.

If you have already purchased a ticket to this event and this change affects your desire to attend, we will gladly refund your ticket purchase if you contact Ken Dobson at 217-371-3653.

I thought last year the Wilmot/Husets back to back nights was just poorly planned out. 7 and a half hours between shows that are back to back nights seems a little crazy. I thought for sure it was just coincidence. But I see they scheduled the exact same thing again this year. That right there just shows me how poorly this series thinks of its OWN drivers. Should probably get that straightened out before you go bashing other series'. I wish the renegade guys could go to shows and just steal money, but that would be supporting the series. I for one will not be going to Wilmot this year to support the ASCOC after reading these statements. I will go camping, or fishing instead. I ALWAYS support open wheel racing as much as I can, but this is just ridiculous.

Ok Maddog--where you at?  I saw you giving Webb the 3rd degree at Wilmot last summer.

Did he tell you that you were too old to be at the races?

Hey Sarge, what are you sayin?  LOLOL    Age never came up in our conversation.    He just tried to convince me that having 'just a small handfull of cars' was all he could expect because the tow was 20 hours, and then went on to say the added money that is brought in helps the purse.  He talks fast and I think he is full of shit.

Typical AARN one sided columns/interviews. I gave up on that one sided rag many years ago....

Maybe Lenny Sammons and his National Enquire of racing should sharpen his pencil and interview the drivers and tracks to get their view as to why they left and formed/joined Renegade.

No offense, but it is comments Webb made in AARN that they have run unedited that are going to turn most people against him.  They typically will interview anyone who is willing to talk to them in these situations including the recent urc spat that had comments from Bob Miller which blew up in his face as well while making Curt Michapel sound rational and professional. (eve though Sammons has promoted races with Miller in the past).

I don't know what your axe is to grind with that paper, but I am sure that they will talk to Renegade powers that be when the schedule comes out.  And while their columnists ca n be opinionated at times, that is what editorial columns are for.

His ELEVATED STATUS has been coming down a floor or 2 for a few years & the Brake aint gonna hold much longer !!!

Now are the tracks that uphold him that only has 1 race a year still gonna stand in his corner.

Sad Sad day if mud throwing is what it is getting to. It helps nobody and hurts everyone that has anything to do with the whole situation. Thinking I will see more Late Model shows and the Outlaws and say piss on the rest!

I just hope this is not a set up deal to take a serious shot at the All Stars. How credible is this Quote?

If its in Lenny Sammons column in the Area Auto Racing News (to be fair I haven't read the column yet) then Webb said it and its a direct quote.

Check out the response from Fremont Speedway over at pitgate.com.

"We are considering all options at this time. I am very disappointed in the words that I read those teams have built alot of the All Stars history over the past decade. Both the All Stars and the Renegades have done things that the sport or themselves should not be very proud of. Fremont will continue to focus on our weekly racers and the FAST Series as that is the most important things to us."

And, Mr. Webb has now decided to put out a statement regarding the AARN story that quoted him.  I've read this statement a dozen times and all he gives is lame excuses trying to "justify" his dumbass comments.  Hey Webb...a comment not directed at any specific driver or team (registered with the Renegades) means it can also be interpreted as being directed at any of the drivers....you are a moron.

AARN Clarification:

I would like to address a few points from an article published by Lenny Sammons in the Area Auto Racing News on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 that I feel are inaccurate and misrepresent this great racing organization.

In Lenny’s weekly “Focus On Speed” article, what was supposed to be an announcement of our 2015 schedule of events, ended up a bit off point and I would like to clarify two quotes that didn't convey the message accurately.

I would first like to address the quote – “You cannot sell a series with B and C-level talent”. In conversation, I meant to convey that I don’t believe a series should be luring additional drivers and teams that do not have the experience, resources and equipment to race at unfamiliar facilities. To clarify, the “B and C-level” comment was not directed at any specific driver or team.

I would also like to address an inaccurate and misquoted comment about drivers Tim, Shaffer, Chad Kemenah, Danny Smith and Greg Wilson.

These talented drivers have all had tremendous racing careers and have found much success throughout the years. Much of that success has been in All Star competition, hence why we receive so many comments and questions regarding these drivers and their future plans. It is true that the goals of a driver change throughout their career and they tend to race on a schedule that is more convenient based on circumstance, family and personal reasons, rather than commit to a grueling 45-50 race All Star Tour.

The drivers listed above have a combined 10 All Star Championships and have provided countless exciting events throughout their careers. We continue to welcome them at All Star events and know that the fans as well as this organization have great admiration for them.

We are excited about the 2015 All Star season and the great relationship our organization has with tracks, fans and race teams.

Best Regards,

Guy R. Webb – President

Lenny Sammons' family has run AARN for over 50 years. Sammons himself has written a column for 40 of those years. A guy  doesn't survive that many decades in the business by making **** up.

Pretty shitty job at damage control. That's OK, after this I don't think it will be long at all before we won't be hearing much of anything out of Guy Webb because his goose is cooked. Its a damn shame he had to take a once great series down with him

If this ship does sink I know one thing, if Flat Out or Sprintcar and Midget, either one, gets a lengthy interview with Webb, that my friends would be one "final" and wild, balls to the walls interview.  Webb would stick his foot in his mouth over and over.  On the positive side, I have seen 2 or 3 All Star shows here in the upper midwest where they don't often get to and all of them were great shows as most sprint car shows are, and for that I thank him.
