I like dropping the "challenge" part of this event and making it a good paying "to win" show but I don't see anything to get overly excited about. Tickets are now $30 and only one driver can take home the big check. What is really going to be different? How will this be better and more exciting than it has been? More beads maybe?

Michael.

Tickets are $25 if you buy in advance, $30 day of the show.

By making this event a 410 event again adds excitement.  Top notch 410 drivers from all over the country will add to this event again.  The Front Row Challenge is a thing of the past...the past few years it was tried but not even close to accompolishing.  I applaud TMAC Promotions for taking a chance and making it a 410 event again.  I think the stands will be packed again, as will the infield.  It may not reach the party status that it did a few years ago but kudos for attempting something different.

I live near by but if I'm already in around to see other sprint cars 30 miles away. I'll be there if it's the Front Row Challenge the Back Row Challenge, the lap the whole field challenge...

What happens if you hold a race Tuesday, non sanctioned, with $10k to win? Do enough drivers and fans show up? Get both winged and non wing fans there by throwing in winged 305's.

Based upon this years schedule the National USAC guys had a pretty light schedule in early August.

Either way, it'll be a good day b/c I'll get to see some sprint car racing.

Terry, get some Nascar guys to come race in the 305's!

What about getting the WAR non-wing series to sanction a race on Tuesday? It would be a stretch for a mid-week show but simply going with the notion that it has to be "USAC or nothing" doesn't seem to be the right approach. Even if USAC does the sanction it is a stretch to fill the field. No fancy five bar cars, run what you brung. Maybe a bonus for different engine sizes or a bonus from starting from the rear. Run winged 360's with the WAR guys and get a sponsor to put up a big bonus if a driver can with both races in the same night. I am not a promoter and I know all these ideas take money but if anybody is "connected" in the industry it definitely the current promotional team. Just tossing out ideas......

So are the Outlaws gonna allow their "members" to race? Competing series, within a certain amount of miles and hours.... Seems like a race they'd frown on to me. With it being Nationals week, even without those 10-15 cars I imagine a great turnout.

Exactly what I was wondering. No WoO races that day, they should just let 'em run....

So it's not really a front row challenge next year.  I'm fine with that.  It's nearly impossible for that to happen today anyway and quite frankly the race was losing it's luster.  The bigger guaranteed payday should draw more good cars again.  Going back to 410s is the right move too.  Thumbs up to TMac and Laurie.

Agreed. Everyone knew "back row challenge" was a sucker bet. I skipped it last year but I might go again this time

Good move on this. We were gonna not come out until Tueday this year but have changed our plans and are coming on Sunday again. Enough with beads already, run an efficient show and let the partiers party after the race fans have left.

I bet they have no issue with driving to Iowa for a one day show @ Iowa Speedway in June....(that pays LESS than the Ulitimate Challenge did).

The National Amsoil Sprint Car series does not race at Iowa Speedway.  And, the majority of the drivers weren't at Belleville.  Why don't you give it up?

My wife told me if I went to one more Sprint Car race
she would leave me.................I'm sure gonna miss
that ol' gal.

I meant USAC as a sanctioning body (they may have the hardest job of any sanctioning body when it comes to scheduling)....it's the off-season, don't get too worked up about it.

I personally could care less if the Ultimate Challenge returns (ever since the tragedy with Keith Hutton on the frontstretch, I just can't make myself go to a non-wing show anymore at Osky, that is an image that will forever be etched in my mind), but if it does, I'm sure it will be well attended (or attended enough to turn a profit for Terry and Lori).

As far as the FRC Challenge goes, I hope it continues to be a race for many years to come (being $20,000 to win is actually a positive for the 410 Nationals as well IMO as it gives travelers from the coasts another chance to make some $$$).

Ya know, if that's the case, I really shouldn't be able to attend any sprint car races anywhere. I saw the deaths of Kevin Gobrecht at I-80, Steve King at Knoxville, Jim Matthews at Sioux Empire Fairgrounds (Sioux Falls) and Gary Bott at Huset's and, yes, those images are etched in my mind, as well. Personally, I love watching the USAC Sprints as those are drivers' cars but hate seeing them flip.

I've been in attendance when other drivers have perished as well, but most were in a corner and away from the spectators.   Keith was directly in front of me, it's an image that if you were there you'd know what I'm talking about.

I know Keith's death was incredibly graphic for those who saw it and I'm glad I was not there that night. But, I was standing in turn one for the Gobrecht crash and saw it fairly close up.  Also saw the helmet as it was returned to the pits so I know exactly what happened in that crash.

This post proves that ANYONE can find something negative in any situation. The King's Royal pays $50,000 to win and second gets $12,500 and it drops quickly. This is to entice drives to come race. I believe that it will. As a fan that is what you need to get excited for. If that does not excite you then why are you a fan of sprint car racing?

I agree wholeheartedly. I am curious as to why some promoter in Iowa or surronding states doesn't schedule a USAC sprint race in the week before or after the Nationals, to attract USAC to once again take part in The Ultimate Challenge. I feel the loss of this race caused much of the decline in attendance last year.

The week Before you have 2 problems

1. Belleville Midget Nationals- in Belleville, KS is USAC sactioned now with Silver Crown
2. 360 nationals take cars and fans away from the area,

USAC tried this a few years ago Eagle :Friday, Grain Valley :Saturday, US 36: Sunday

I was at US 36 and I thought the Fan count was bad they moved the date to May the following year to try to get more cars to travel since it would be earlier in the year.

BTW Belleville was unsanctioned that year and they got like 13 cars

Calm down! If this is how you react to somebody's comment on a sprint car message board, I can't imagine how you treat somebody who actually DID something to you....

revjimk, read this idiot's last several posts on this board then report back, please. If you still have the same thought, let me know.

Ford, I can't imagine what someone did to you to make you the way you are on this board. If you really are the same way in life, you have serious issues to deal with and are in dire need of professional help. By the way, listing the deaths I've seen is in no way treating them as badges of honor. Only a dick like you would turn it into that. Get yourself the help that you badly need.

What would be cool on Tuesday would USAC be a Silver Crown race, a USAC 40 lap sprint feature, USAC 30 lap midget feature, a ton of heats. Open to all non-wing cars.
