Are you saying Craig did not want to be running with the outlaws? Are you interested in buying a bridge ?

Just taking what he told me at face value and not reading between the lines.

Not too hard for me to believe as someone close to Sammy's age and equally gray and tied to the recliner. The tour is brutal at any age but especially for folks old enough to qualify for an AARP card. You have to be that age to understand, it really does take a lot more effort to do the things we did as younger men.
They lost two motors and it sounds like they need to do some work on their transporter. Steve is on his farewell tour, Sammy has followed the whole tour and run a regional schedule over the years. It's really no surprise, I'm guessing if they'd have had a better spot in the points they might have stuck with it. No sense burning up diesel, motors and tires criss crossing the country at this point.

I think Sammy retired from the Tree Stand team. I think he wil be back next season with his own car, a Parker motor and run the tracks he likes. Time will tell...

Hey as much as we would like it to, Nothing lasts forever. Whether you loved him or loved to hate him he got all of our attention as one of the very best ever to crawl into a Sprint Car. I for one am glad I was there to see it and not have to hear about it from someone else.

I think Sammy's done for good. It's hard work, he's almost 59 and Kevin has a lot going on that he wants to support. He also can no longer finish up front unless he starts up front and he knows it. Sammy's been my favorite driver since he started coming to Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt on Sunday nights in the mid '70's before the Outlaws ever existed. You could see this coming for awhile and since Sammy is a winner he wasn't going to just stick around being a field-filler. I was hoping he would finish out the season to see him run again at Terre Haute and Eldora one more time but I guess not. Running a partial schedule next year might have been a possibility but that is not a recipe for success as Steve will find out. The two best sprint car drivers of my era have aged along with me and Father Time always wins in the end. Good job, Sammy, and may God bless you and your family.

Good interview today with Sammy on wingednation.com that is worth your time. He's made his decision but it's tearing him up a bit, I think.
