so then people would have to play musical chairs between shows.
and if you have to show two tickets...what if you only had tickets for the first show? are you going to make someone buy a ticket to the second show just to get in?
easier to just clear the stands between shows like they always do. besides there is usually some time between shows that run on the same day.
|
You run the shows simultaneously. You run hot laps 1 and then hot laps 2, qualifying 1 and qualyfing 2....etc.., No seat hopping need. If they want in they buy another ticket or get a refund. Most pople have multi day tickets anyways. People over think this stuff.

Well this isn't a USAC show so you don't have to worry about that incompetence. These people know what they are doing. One thing I will say from personal experience is that it will suck if you are in a tent this week. Probably be better to sleep in the car which I have also done.

I am not there but based on radar predictions and past years bet it is going to be a very late night with a very fast track

So, what will be the plan for Nationals if Weds gets called for weather? Will it move to Thursday and Thursday to Friday and Friday to Saturday Afternoon? Just wondering, but hoping for the best.
|
Sitting up in MInnesota happy that I didn't order all four nights of the PPV because I would have missed any daytime racing. Our office blocks all outside websites except for business related and a few news and weather sites we are allowed to browse during lunch and breaks.
What's the latest down there? I popped into the radar a few times today and there was a big blob of rain parked over Iowa every time I checked it.

you are the one that said sit in the weds seats for the weds show and thurs seats for the turs show. so if people have different seats for different days then there would be seat hopping. also some people might only want to go to first show and not the secon so why have them have to show two sets of tickets like you originally said.
the best solution is to do what they always do and clear the stands after the first show of a double show. no over thinking there.

Only been to the Nationals once, and it rained Wednesday night so everything got pushed back and the Friday show was Saturday afternoon. Worst experience of my life at a racetrack (still better than most days). It was so hot it was almost unbearable to sit in the stands. Anything they can do to avoid that scenario would be ideal.
|
I must of been at the same race too, sprint cars in a midwest summer, not a good thing for anyone
Hope for those attending, they figure out something better than running during the day, plus its a bitch for the crews

This is part of what makes the Nationals the Nationals. One of my favorite t-shirts was, Knoxville Nationals: Another year of mud, sweat, and beers. They know what they're doing. They'll get the shows in, even if it means running in wee hours of the morning. I've entered the stands at midnight, watched push trucks iron the track til 2:00 am, sit in the sale barn parking lot, where Hy Vee now sits, til after midnight and then heading to the track, been to morning shows, afternoon shows, and Sunday afternoon and night shows. It just adds to the mystique, atmosphere, drama, tension, and future stories of the best week of the year.

I never said that. You read it wrong. I said let the track designate which seat you sit in. Either the Wednesday or Thursday so there would be no seat swapping and there would be no duplication of seats, quite simple, I think.
Its a moot point cuz they want to do it the hard way. One day they will realize that technolgy has its advantages...or maybe they just want to string the whole thing out and sell more beer??
Most likely thats the case as they didn't call the race until 30 mins ago and the weather front was all the way back to Sioux Falls. I remember 97 when they sold beer till they pretty much ran out and then called the race, which was over the moment the downpour and the tornado went south of town, which was 3-4 hrs prior to the cancelation.

This is why I quit going to the nationals. They water the show down for 4 nights and have 100 cars. I went to the Worlds biggest dirt race the World 100 and they had 200 plus cars and condensed it into 2 nights. Fridays race is a total waste of money for fans, yes they have tried to make it worth the money but it still's not worth it.Now they have to squeeze everything into what they charged into 3 nights or days. Now if Thursdays show gets rain out and Fridays who is gonna go back next year?

Ummm, I imagine a lot of people will go back.
Apparently Knoxville is supposed to control the weather now. Got it.

yes i did read it wrong.
still not everyone might want to go to or have tickets for both shows.
so what if you wanted to go to the thurs show only and have purchased a thurs ticket and and show up thurs and they call for weds seating? now you don't have a ticket to get into the show unless you buy another ticket for weds.
what if you bought a weds ticket and didn't plan to go thurs and the weds make up was ran thurs and the track called for thurs seating? so no you still have to buy a ticket you didn't want to just to get in.
what if it is a fri show that rains and they run them both sat? people might have come just for the sat show and you are going to make them buy a fri ticket?
why do you want to force people to buy a ticket for something they didn't want in the first place?
best thing to do is the way they do it. no confusion. time between shows for people to go do something so they don't have to sit for maybe 6 hrs in the stands. people can go eat or take a nap if they want. track crew can redo the track.
also there is no such thing as running out of beer. they just call for more. and if people sit there all night drinking and paying race track prices for beer with no races when they can stamp out of the track and come back in then they deserve it.
to indy and beyond!!

No ,, not saying Knoxville can control but they can have a back up plan with fridays show being a waste. Packing 4 nights of racing into a 2 or 3 day makes more sense. Would you go back and blow away that kinda money?

Per Johnny Gibson, if tonight is rained out, 2 complete shows tomorrow. Starting at 6pm, then clearing the grandstand and doing the next show.
|
What else could you do? Sounds like the best option.

I would say go back to the old plan. Refund Fridays race and carry on with the show.

Every Nationals ticket I've ever had has said 'No Refunds - All Shows will be run'. You're bitter about something... that's fine... get over it!
