My daughter found out today they have to pay $115 for my 6 month old grand daughter to be able to sit on her Mom's lap. That's 3 days at child prices and full price on Saturday. I'm sorry but that is a crock of Sh!t..... Greed has no conscious.

Please stay home. Don't need to be paying for hearing aids when the kid gets to be 4 or 5. Prob not a place to take a 6 month old. Most responsible parents would get a sitter. Call Knoxville Chamber if Commerece they know alot if very very nice responsible people in Knoxville that could babysit. Not sure why people want something for nothing. Oh wait Obama been around too long. And I sure the hell aint gonna like a screaming 6 month old sitting next to me. If you feel your child needs to go then pay the price. I guess since I have glaucoma and can't see the back stretch very good and only see 1/2 the track I should by God get in for 1/2 price. I'm gonna talk to those greedy sons of guns. I know Knoxville Nationsls are the greatest best there is but dang they are greedy and the price they want for pay per view and then Osky doesn't offer it. Dang they are all so greedy. LOL LOL wouldn't miss it for the world. Pay the price or shut up

Jeesh! Im never having children. How long before you can take your kids to the races? Pretty sure i went since I was 5 months old went my parents took me. You probably have to pay for a ticket because of the few previously mentioned that do take up multiple seats with bags/strollers/etc. I get it that everyone charges but if you were relatively intelligent I think you could pack a bag and keep the kid occupied between you and your wife no problem.

Yup, I'd love to sit behind you and smell baby crap. Don't tell me a 9 mo old is potty trained. Or mom standing up, to go change the diaper in the middle of a race so the rest of us do not have to smell it.
But hey, it's your choice. Buy a ticket or stay home. Make a choice and stop whining about it.

Says right on their website that small soft sided coolers are allowed as long as you're not bringing in alcohol (which discourages no one unfortunately for those of us who don't drink and are annoyed by idiot drunks).
Never heard of a place charging for someone younger than 2 as long as they sit on an adult's lap.

Take it from a person who is nearly deaf from race car noise, a baby ears shouldn't be at Knoxville Raceway where so much of the noice is held in by the giant grandstands.... Very dangerous at that age... Wish I would have be smarter....

Bringing an infant child to a loud, dusty and crowded event like the Nationals is utterly stupid. IMO not the place I'd bring a baby, but what the flock do I know, I ain't got none. Babies belong in a quiet, calm, clean place where they can sleep, eat, and shit.

Sounds to me like a lot of people who live in glass houses are throwing stones at ya PB... but you posted it here... so I'm sure knew what you were in for! It's thankfully a free country and your daughter can do whatever she wants. I'm probably not going to take my son/daughter until they're 5 or 6, but that's just me. My mom & dad took me when I was probably around that age (less than a year, although I don't believe to the Nationals) ... and without ear protection too I'm almost certain! The cars were a lot louder back then too it seems, so I'm probably screwed when I'm 50! At least it seems that most parents these days make their kids wear ear protection when they're really little. It does seem pretty steep to pay that much for a baby that won't even remember it... agreed there... but again - it's a free country!

Wow, I thought the mention of Sammy Swindell brought out the ugly side of people on this forum. I guess the mention of bringing a 9 month old does the same thing.
Lay off people, if she wants to bring here 9 month old to the Nationals then more power to her. And hell yeah $115 is steep! I'm sure she is aware of all things involved with dirt track racing. They make noise cancelling headsets, and a blanket takes care of the dust. Simple as that. Go parent your own kids, oh wait... you don't have any and that's why you don't want any at YOUR race track, or do yours not talk to you because you're such an asshole? Come on guys. You've all eached a new low in my book. Especially you, Desflur..."most responsible parents" You're rude.
Last year, my wife and I brought our 9 month old son to the Nationals and never got charged a dime extra. Each night when it got to be a little later, my wife took him back to the RV and he went to sleep. It was a very special moment for me as a father as it reminded me of when my own carried me back to the car after the races when I was young. I would only hope that every parent gets to experience that.
I would like to repeat that I didn't pay an extra dime to bring my 9 month old last year.

I would almost consider it lack of parenting to take a 6 month old to the Nationals. I have seen this many times and I am sure if the little one could speak, it would be screaming to get out of there. I sit on the back stretch and saw on lady escorted out by security because it was so hot and humid and unfit for the baby to be there.

Right from Knoxville's website.
Coolers: Coolers are available for
purchase through merchandise stands.
Additionally, fans are permitted to bring
in small, soft-sided coolers. Alcohol is
available for purchase at concessions
stands, but may not be carried in or
out of the gates.
