I'd rather see a beer in his hand than a joint anyday. My attitude is not about right and wrong, yet it's about the sport being clean enough to appeal to a broad mass of people. You can get by with a couple of beers.

It only stands to reason that if you drink too many, you won't have the good rides for long.

now thats ---- i'm not gonna be insulting. a bunch of loud mouth stupid drunks are more "clean" than the fellas over there smokin a fattie? you really don't get out much do you?

aside from the idiots who drink and then drive (we're covering about 30% of americans right there) - even if its one beer and then driving..............I think the majority of the rest have enough to common sense to know which is worse between alcohol and pot.

I'm 25 now.............between the time I was 14 and now I've seen alcohol destroy and alter peoples lives in messed up ways. In my town half the girls I knew got drunk and then got pregnant (it was accident - like they slipped ya know). 1 year later they're out partying while the kid is being raised by grandparents. Those drinking were the ones goin around raisin hell. .

A guy I went to school with just got on the local force and he told me he has way more against people that drink than people that toke. He said most cops are that way. He went on to say it is more profitable to arrest people for smokin grass than alcohol (unless they're driving). and that they are all but instructed (kinda like quotas) to look and arrest more for pot than alcohol.

TRUTH---The only thing wrong with grass that keeps it illegal is that no one can control it to a profitable extent. Not a lot of corporate and political lobbyists for pot..........but there is a ton for alcohol.

Alcohol - kills a lot of people. lots of money made in it.

Tobacco - kills a lot of people. lots of money made in it.

even legal medicenes sponsored by drug companies ruin peoples lives every day. lots and lots of money made in it.

MARIJUANA - rarely kills anyone. but due to a lack of control over it - lots of money made in it being illegal (arrests, bail bondsmen, cort costs, attorneys, license suspensions, etc., etc., etc.,)

the point by now should be received.

either way..dale jr doesnt hold a budweiser during his pre-race interviews..terry didnt drink it but for people watching a driver being interviewed holding an alcoholic beverage before "driving" in the biggest race of his life isnt right either

No way they would EVER drink before a race like this, smoking something is a whole other story...

Man I'm not talking about right or wrong anymore. Most people I know my age smoke this stuff and they're good friends of mine anyway. They just don't bring it around me.

I know booze has killed more people, and when you leave the law out of it, booze has destroyed a hell of a lot more.

MY POINT IS THIS--THIS IS WHAT I'VE BEEN TRYING TO SAY ALL ALONG-

I am convinced that 75% of the people watching do not feel comfortable around it. The competition for the entertainment dollar is tough and it makes those dollars whimsical. Speed costs money, they have it, thus until 75% of the fans are okay with it, lets leave it out of the spotlight.

I am a JAN OPPERMAN fan by the way, and would have been during the Weld and Pancho Carter days.

I have tried to sell this sport all my life to those around me and most of those people don't go around it. How do I sell this sport when this issue still stands a chance to undermine it's credibility?

I want to apologize to all of those I have offended, especially you OKCFan12, yet I'm not sure I should.

I just don't understand how people can get so easily offended. I am glad though, that some people are so ready to pick Tmac apart that they pay that close of attention. Have you visited pocketshots.com yet?

Savage, you know i am not a big fan of the 24 like you are, but I am on his side for this one. It is a sponsor and Terry has had to fight to get his sponsors. He didn't grow up with all the money in the world to start a race team. He had to make it happen for himself. He fought to become a Pro racer and not just a rich kid with money.

Now, I will go wash myself off.

I'd go on national TV before a race with a Tampon in my right hand, a Douche in my left hand, a Viagra in my mouth, Playgirl magazine over my shoulder and Maxi pads for ear muffs. Just as long as I was getting enough to be racing from coast to coast.

I don't even see what the big deal is, I've tried a six pack of Mikes and didn't even get a buzz.

Angell Park must get this guys' panties all bunched up as they offer as a Heat Race prize to the drivers (of age) a box of canned beer. Would like to think other tracks have a similiar contingency with local distributors. (Mike Hess won tonight by the way).

Alcohol abuse I see is busting out that 3rd maybe 4th Heat Race and then if them first couple had some long yellow or red flag delays on a hot and muggy day/night and that beer just sits on the Victory Lane floor out in the exposed elements.

I might at least ask for a fresher box of suds out of the reefer and get that right into the cooler for possible post Feature livations.

Blow Dog just sit down and shut up. As hard as it is to even get a sponsor in this sport of sprint car racing, It would take some trailer trashed hillbilly like yourself to say something this stupid. I tell you what, SINCE YOU ARE SOOOO OFFENDED,THEN STOP WATCHING!!

Stop your whining and crying and being Jealous of TMAC... There, You got the attention you were looking for by saying something so ignorant, You got a solutin to your problem and You would get a BOOT IN YOUR ASS if you ever said soemthing this stupid in person.. Count on It!

Easy now, we all love this sport and want it to do well. Different perspectives allow us to figure out where we stand as the present generation of fans. Years from now we'll all be doing those "in my day" speeches.

Canada has very stiff drunk driving penalties, they are seriously enforced and as a result a lot less carnage on the roads then our Southern neighbors. Get caught one time and you lose your license for one year, no ands, ifs or buts and refuse to blow and you get the same penalty. The second offense sees you in jail, AS IT SHOUD BE. The cab is your best friend when you go out in this country.

As for Terry, he is as marketable as any driver in sprint car racing today and don't think that wave didn't help with Mike's or future sponsors. I have often seen Jr. in Victory Lane with a BUD as I have Kurt Busch with a Miller Lite, that's what they get paid to do. Take It Easy.....

But did you see the pre, pre interview...the one where he was dressed like Al Pacino from Scarface with his nose in a bowl of blow?

"Say hello to my little friend!"

Holy Crap!

Too many birthdays kill more people than alcohol and weed combined where's the outrage??? Sprint car racing will never be "legitimized", or mainstream, as we are not nearly politically correct enough for middle income America, and the throngs of UC Berkeley educated, hairy legged, tree hugging rascals that contradict all things American.

Our Canadian neighbors have done such a fine job with socialized medicine, I say appoint PMSN our MP to enforce all things righteous and sprint car racing will be cured of all its ills.

That is, after all, what we need, another layer on the onion!

While you are right in stating that the DUI/DWI laws in Canada are very strict, you missed the biggest reason for "lot less carnage on the roads ".

As long as you are east of Vancouver, west of Saulte Ste. Marie or more than 100 miles from the U.S. border ANYWHERE in Canada, there aren't enough cars on the road to have a multi-vehicle accident!

I agree with the PRODUCT PLACEMENT......I am the farthest thing from a T-Mac the racer supporter...but i do admire T-mac the SPRINT CAR RACING promotor/marketer

A few years ago there was an un-official survey in a pit meeting at Knoxville about doing ""random"" drug tests on the drivers.....LESS THEN 5 racers said YES, TEST THEM ALL.....one of those drivers who said yes, TEST ME, TEST EVERYBODY was McCarl

I dont agree with him on the track, but he is arguably the BEST MARKETER in the world of sprint car racing today.....not to mention being a regular at Husets he spits out those sponser's name better then a lot of NASCAR guys
