I have lost respect for Tony over this. He should have kept his mouth shut and left this alone.
Richard Petty made his mark in NASCAR. When Danicky has 200 wins then she can bad mount Richard. Until then she should be quiet too!
You may not agree with what Richard said (I happen to agree with him) but he has a right to speak his mind.
We have become to PC in every aspect of life! Very sad.

You guys take this stuff to seriously. It is part of the SHOW BIZ part of all sports. You guys say Richard has the right to say things, well so does Tony. Danica is real popular with the fans. This seems to bother some male folks for some reason. Danica has probably drawn alot of new fans to NASCAR many of whom are womwn. Just relax, I am sure Tony and Richard will get a laugh out of it together.

I have sort of been a Tony fan because of what he gives back to his roots but, I think he is being a real jerk in this case. This is just me but I have always felt that older people and especially ones who have lived a good life and accomplished much deserve respect. I have come across some who have said things in their older years that I completely disagree with but let it pass out of respect for them. Putting a 72 year old man against someone in their prime, male or female dosen't prove anything. Richard has a right to his opinion which is shared by many that a man with her record would not get top notch equipment to run. With that said I also don't fault Danica for taking advantage of fools who spend their money on her most would ride it as far as they can. She will be set for life because of them and you can't blame her for that.

Richard probably wishes he was 72 again. He'll be 77 in July! BUT I for one bet he can STILL do it!

This is what we have come to...Petty vs. Patrick. I think the "cabin fever" has got to most of you. Tell me please what driver in NASCAR is going to go up to Patrick and get in her face about an on track thing that happens...Logano going to throw a water bottle at her. I don`t think so. Danic Patrick race car driver... I don`t think so,very nice looking young women...yes. Maybe she should just keep taking pictures of her self in the mirror.

Bottom line, no matter how correct Petty is on the subject....he should not have said it in public. My guess is that Brian France gave Mr Petty a call and asked him to say something stupid in Canada to take the heat away from his own stupid statements and decisions.
I hope that the challenge race happens....it would be great publicity and income for Smoke (and unfortunately, NASCAR). I don't give a rat's patoot who wins and I believe a 10 lap race between two cars answers nothing....but it would be a great chance for Smoke to sell some sponsorship and get more exposure to those he already has.

wow way too many taking this nascar to serious, nascar has been mostly about big money for many years. Danica is one of the top 10 earning auto race car drivers in the world. Stewart / Haas racing has made millions more than they have spent for Danicas racing, no matter how much she crashes, they currently make more off her than most other race teams do from their drivers. Petty racing has not had any good headlines for some time, I bet since old richards statements their t-shirt sales have increased tremendously.

I bet there would be some outrage here against Petty if he had said that the only way Dave Blaney would ever win a NAPCAR race is if nobody showed up......

Honestly, I don't think most people have a problem with her personality as much as they dislike the hype about her. Let's face it, she has driven some of the best equipment in the sport and what does she have to show for it. She has not accomplished much at all in comparison to other drivers that have been in the sport as long as she has. Richard as right, what gets her attention is the fact that she is a woman and I don't think there is anything wrong with that. However, I think we are also doing a disservice to the fans saying its ok for her to finish 2-3 laps down every race because she is a girl. That should not be the case because she is a "racecar driver" and should be treated like everyother driver out there with the same results expected.

For me it's because she is waisting a top notch car/engine program/team. That's all. I totally support her (racing)(driving) a start and park program. Totally. If she would go race sprint cars on off nights with Tony I would totally change me tune. That would be awesome!

King Richard should not have started it, especially when his son raced NASCAR for many years and did absolutely nothing. I am by no means a Tony Stewart fan, but I have no problem with him offering this challenge. If Richard Petty would have kept his trap shut, like he should have, then Tony would have never brought this up.

NO different than Kyle Petty, and many other drivers for that matter, doing the same thing for many years. This is why King Richard should have never said anything in the 1st place.

Although Kyle Petty didn't exactly set world on fire Danica does have to win half a dozen or so to catch him. Richard probably shouldn't have told the truth when asked the question but isn't Tony pretty much saying Danica would win if all the other drivers are 76 years old as much of an insult.

Now what if this happens & the old guy ends up like Ernhardt or Bonnett, hows people going to feel about that ??
Some have it & some don't, then some get caught cheating & still win Championships, go figure.
Don't all the 1's that finish 11th on back go down for Ice Cream after the race since they did a good job.
