I wouldn't walk across the street to watch this crap for free! Another example of what is killing grass roots dirt track racing, too many options for the casual race fans to spend their entertainment dollar.

Sensitivity training for shooters will be held Sunday afternoon at 1PM.
NAPCAR fans deserve to pay $20 bucks to watch one half burned out star "Practice"
I sort of wonder if a Smoke Johnson might just show up at the Ultimate Challenge unannounced.
Now that would be a bargain
|
Actually that will be next Wed at the Hall of Fame around 11a.m.
I sorta think the same thing about Tony.. His team will be there..He might as well see if he can't have some fun with the people that help make him.... Hell I'll even buy him another case of beer if that will help get him here and I won't even tell ESPN about it...LOL!!
I'd sure as hell rather pay $20.00 to see him in a sprinter on dirt as I would a napcar on packed gravel.....Besides a fan want to see racing not somebody going out for a couple of laps then back to the pits for 25 or 30 mins them back out for a couple more... I really think charging for that is lame but your right about them getting away with it..... Do other joints charge like that for practive???.. I mean they have had other practices up there with lesser drivers that were totally closed to the public..Ya don't suppose they have to charge to defray the cost of getting them to the track.. I mean how may 7/8 are on the circuit and what are their chances with other bigger tracks already getting extra dates next year....

I'll save my $30 and spend it on some Beer and food at Nationals. Maybe just beer.
The FDA was investigating NASCAR and is suppose to be deciding soon if you need a prescription to watch it, as it is a very strong cure for insomnia!

While I agree that Knoxville doesn't get the attention it deserves, it doesn't do any good to come down on the local media and piss them off. Katich, you keep this attitude and all you're going to do is give them all the more reason to stay away. I give props to Iowa Speedway for working with the local media to get the attention they are receiving. Lord knows Knoxville's marketing people aren't working with them like they should be. But Iowa Speedway is new. In 5 years it won't see as much media coverage other than the bigger events. But if Iowa Speedway wants to charge people for watching cars test they have the right to. Goes to show you where the demand is for the general population when it comes to racing. But instead of criticizing the mainstream media in Iowa, perhaps you should have the attitude of begging them for coverage, thanking them for the little bit they do when they do it, and maybe they will listen if the music they here from Knoxville race fans is music they like.
I like KXNO for what it is. Sports talk. If it was a talk show about racing, they're ratings would suck. If you're a Hawkeye fan, John Miller is someone you admire for figuring out a way to make a living covering the Hawks. Sprint car racing has it's cult following and we all love it and are very passionate about it. But sprint car racing will never get it's due compared to football, baseball, Nascar, whatever. Just accept it and move on. Just because we like a certain flavor of kool-aid, doesn't mean it's what the majority of the rest of the world likes. And to convince the rest of the world isn't easy.

The longer they ignore the Nats, the more they look like idiots. Here in Okie land I finally got over the little coverage blues when it became apparent to me that good tickets to the Chili Bowl were hard to get. I no longer tell anyone before that race, I'm already afraid they'll outgrow the Expo center.

If they get somewhat of a decent turnout for this practice session,it would not surprise me if other tracks would schedule practice sessions for the paying public.

Who's Jeff Earnhardt? And $30 ? You gotta be kidding me! I could see maybe $5 so they could pay security and parking staff and such but at $30 they are out of their minds! Money sucking arseholes...

I agree with EAsports post---well said-------Katitch---you seem to have all the answers regardless of the topic-----maybe you should run Knoxville or handle the marketing huh-------then things will change right?? GOD otherwiswe known as John Katitch has spoken---Why do you always have to stir things up and then keep them going once you do

There will be a bunch of Po'd people there when they find out they've been ripped in the butt....Paying to watch a bunch of guys who are being paid to "practice" is a joke.. That joint is just looking for some cash flow cause they know that their next race, a stand alone Hooters show will be an even bigger joke than it was last year...LOL !!! When the bloom is off the rose we'll see how big they are, and at the rate they going it won't be much longer....
