That would be some sage advice for yourself.

My point was it has not run yet why put a downer on it before it even happens

What part of " I was just speaking historically" dont you understand? I've seen it in person 4 or 5 times and have watched it on TV every year for the last 15 years or so. Its a big fast mile with one grove. Always has been. gezzzzzzzzzzz

Good ole Hoseheads Forum.....where no one can can say anything without getting negativity thrown back at them! If Jeff has been to Syracuse several times and says he hasn't seen good racing, I believe him. He's been filming racing for many years and I think he knows what he's talking about.
I've been to SDW at Syracuse as well, and he's right. I LOVE the big and small-block modifieds - IMO, they are the best looking race cars out there - and a narrow, flat, pot-holed-filled mile track is not the place to showcase them from for TV.

Vanh, with all due respect, I offered no advise whats so ever. I stated my wish and gave an opinion based on years of observing the race. I will give some advise now however. When you read someones opinion on a message board and disagree with it, have a conversation pointing out how your observations/opinion differs.

CBS Sports Network to Air 2013 World of Outlaws and Super DIRT Week Action
Programming airs Sundays at 9:00 PM, ET beginning Sunday, Nov. 3
CONCORD, N.C. - Oct. 7, 2013 - CBS Sports Network will air six major events from the World of Outlaws and Super DIRT Week, as well as a special countdown show, beginning on Sunday, Nov. 3 and continuing each Sunday at 9:00 PM, ET through Dec. 22.
Coverage on CBS Sports Network kicks off with a one-hour special program entitled World of Outlaws WOW!, documenting the "Top 10 reasons why they call it 'The Greatest Show on Dirt!'" The show features wild flips, great championship battles and much more.
The first race premieres Sunday, Nov. 10, with a two-hour telecast from Williams Grove Speedway.
"This is big news for our sport. CBS Sports Network is available to a wide audience and will consistently deliver an enhanced, high-quality production," said World of Outlaws/DIRTcar CMO Ben Geisler. "It was important for us to get back to a consistent time slot, and we are excited to make that happen for our fans."
The coverage includes World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series events this fall from Williams Grove Speedway and Rolling Wheels Raceway Park, in addition to the crown jewel 42nd Annual NAPA Auto Parts Super DIRT Week at the New York State Fairgrounds, and the World of Outlaws World Finals from The Dirt Track at Charlotte featuring the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Cars, World of Outlaws Late Models and Super DIRTcar Series Big-Block Modifieds.
Nationally acclaimed drag racing announcer Dave Rieff will anchor the broadcasts, returning to his dirt track roots. Prior to a long career broadcasting NHRA events, Dave got his start at short tracks in Iowa, eventually becoming the lead announcer at Knoxville Raceway. The broadcast team will also include sprint car hall-of-famer Brad Doty providing analysis in the booth and Bobby Gerould interacting with drivers in the pits, with cameos from other experts along the way.
CBS Sports Network is available across the country through local cable, video and telco providers and via satellite on DirecTV Channel 221 and Dish Network Channel 158. For more information, including a full programming schedule and how to get CBS Sports Network, go to www.cbssportsnetwork.com .

Dont worry TDA. Typical hoseheads forum, whenever something potentially good happens to sprint car racing most people have complain or give their negative opinion on how something won't work. For as much as most people say they love sprint car racing all most people do is just whine and moan about how sprint car racing is probably not going to exist soon even though their is a ton of young talent, the outlaws have a title sponsor, the outlaw championship is a tight one, Williams Grove just had one of its biggest crowds ever, a legend just won the national open at the end of his career, more owners are getting involved, Kings Royal was packed, knoxville nationals packed, and we potentially have a network that could show us more races on tv than what Speed ever did.
Really a down year wouldn't you say.

I agree with Jeff that the Syracuse dirt mod race is a yawner. Seen a few and none were much to be excitied about. Dirt mods put on some great racing, just not on the mile at Syracuse.

I agree, it's POTENTIALLY good for dirt track racing.
However, if you aren't "choosey" about which races/facilities you broadcast from, you make it easy for everyone to write off your product.
You have to choose tracks/races that are consistently good and provide good/great racing. Choose tracks that provide EXCELLENT amenities for fans / good lighting for TV, etc..
Showing a race just to show one WILL NOT help get more races on TV, and will not increase the fanbase (especially if the race is a yawner).

Being a race fan, and seeing as though the options for open wheel racing are limited on TV, is it worth tuning into, or just sit back and watch the Wife's soap opera's? If it is worth watching, then people just need to shut the hell up, and be happy it is on TV.

I'm looking forward to the countdown show more than any of those races. Sounds like it could be a cool show, hopefully footage we've not seen before.
