i thought i was at Huests again...it was the July 3rd nightmare all over except Tony wasnt there and it was easy to get out of the parking lot. Why dont they put the sprints out right away to pack it down instead of wasting 1 hr with the push trucks? it seemed like once they got the sprints out to pack it didnt take long at all. also 1 car out of 24 sees a red light?? at some point the officals have to call BullS**t and say get to the back. dont they have the raceciever and wouldnt the officials have said it was a red? just doesnt add up they must really want to make the points race real interesting.

well if they wanted to use those race engines then go out and help so they can be used instead of sitting around. if they would have been out there sooner the show would have started 2 to 3 hours sooner

last time i checked the fans in the stands are the customers of the WoO which every driver there that night was working for the WoO. why would those 28 drivers not want to make thier customers happy by getting out there to get the races start earlier and have the customers leave with a pleasent experience? if the fans stop coming i see 10-12 guys that were there that race for a living that could be in the unemployment line.

Ah, so, what you saying is that the fans are entitled to see everyone go out and possibly destroy everything they work for so these so-called fans can have their entertainment a couple hours earlier. These races are their jobs and do you do your job if everything is not safe? If you're working with a power tool, should that tool be kept in a safe working order for you? It's the same for the racers.

its packing the track not racing...they went out and packed the track and the track was still crap... if someone wrecks there car packing they probably shouldnt be racing.

As a fan in attendance on Friday night here's my take

1) - track prep crew (or lack thereof) was ill-prepared and it seems as though SLS promotions was ill-prepared as well (they've been promoting races long enough that they should be able to prep a track for all weather conditions and all surfaces)

2) the delay was nearly unbearable (nothing on the mic except an update once an hour or so, why not do some driver interviews or bring drivers up to the grandstand area to sign autographs for kids during the delay?) - instead, just crappy music or dead air and people getting antsy and irate in some cases

3) Car count - was 30 prior to the LONGGGGG delay, Lasoski and another car left before hotlaps, another wouldn't run and left prior to the heats

4) track conditions - appalling to say the least, the HOLE or MONSTER CUSHION (couldn't tell which for sure it was from where I was sitting) was there ALL NIGHT and SLS did nothing to try to make it better.  Davey Heskin hit it and rolled over, Schatz hit it and nearly crashed, Dobmeier hit it, Maeshen hit it and it appeared to break a shock or shock mounts as his right front bounced going down the staightaway from that point on and he dropped to run the bottom of the track (even though it was obviously faster to be up top)

5) Schatz - did he get a lucky break by the officials allowing him to restart at the front?  Yes, but if you surveyed the track, there were very few lights and the 4 wheeler on teh back stretch had a  "FLASHING" Red light on the back of it -- they moved it to turn #4 after that incident for the guy putting down the white line and had the tail end pointed toward the grandstand instead of the track

6) Dollansky's penalty -- his car was directly in front of me and they had 2 guys still working on the car when the horn sounded and after the first couple of cars were fired off (he deserved to be penalized), my guess is Dobmeier was fairly close to being penalized as the guy on the Right Rear stood up as the horn sounded to return to the pits.

7) the Open Red flag - no reason to have one IMO, the track is a 3/8, not a BIG 1/2 mile, sure they ran a lot of caution laps, but you had an opportunity to have the OPEN RED or a FUEL ONLY stop just 5-6 laps prior when Heskin got upside down -- that's just poor race control on the WoO part

8) the support class - I have no problem with the mini-sprints being the support class - sure beats having hobby stocks or another class with narrow tires that would have made track conditions worse

9) Push trucks - what was there, 5 or maybe 6?  Lack of pushtrucks is one of the reasons the show got started so late, 5 or 6 trucks is not ever going to run in a racetrack in short order.

10) The one positive is that the fairgrounds didn't sell or allow alcohol, it probably would have gotten "ugly" had some of those in the stands that were VERY vocal had some alcohol in them on top of being pi$$ed off about the late start.

As a matter of fact I've been involved in racing for 32 years. The track I use to be an official at use to make every class of cars go out to help run the track in. Yes that iincluded sprint cars, why?  So the fans wouldn't have to sit for any longer than needed. No business(and yes all promoters and professional race teams are businesses) wants upset customers. Sls had the opportunity to get the track prepared all day and didn't. They could have gotten the cars out earlier to pack it in and didn't. So maybe racing 2 hours earlier wouldn't have helped guys win, but considering it's a county fair with a lot of people who don't go to the races every week, it could have helped make more new fans to go out and support their local dirt track. But why are they going to waste time and money now if they think this is typical?

There is only one thing to do.  Vote with your money and don't go next year.  Look at the crowds at Knoxville and the Nascar races.  Lots of empty seats.  I think it's nice to have room to move around a bit and not be elbow to elbow watching a race.  You know it has to be hurting their pocketbook.   Everyone wants to see a WoO race since they only have a few races in area a year.   Just my thoughts on the subject.  Next ?

So this is what I heard on track Prep from a Fair member,The WoO Told the track workers to put X amount of water on the track at 1P.M. He forgot and Still put the same X amount of water on the track at 4P.M. thus needing the same amount of time to prepare the track,Not to put all the blame on this guy as most Outlaw Officials would have been there already and should have seen the track was not getting prepared Properly, This is why You should have had Jackson's guys or the the Dunkins Prepare the track cause they have both been Tip Top all year long. Not County Maintainer drivers who do this maybe 5 times a year.
