less than 1% of the fan base represented I wouldn't put any stock into it

Yep.  WOO puts on a good show at every event I have been to.  Only thing that has ever made the show bad--rain--not in their control.  I was on Jason Sides side (say that 3 times real fast) a couple of years ago--simply because I thought it was a bad PR move for the WRG--not because they actually, contractually screwed Jason.  MOST of the incidents that people cry foul can usually be proven to be legit with a little look into the rule book.  Not saying they are perfect--neither is the NCAA, the NFL, the NBA, Congress or Nascar.

(congress for sure)

Totally agree allardfan. The message boards started out as good for the sport, but over the years have turned ugly with all the name calling and bickering. Many of the haters do not attend races and are "computer" tough guys. The Outlaws still sell out most places and continue to put on great shows all over the country. believe it or not most fans don't know what Hoseheads is.

This, and the message you responded too.  Average 20-30 races a year, but always try to catch the WoO when they're in town at double the cost, small price to pay for the show.  The negative people on here are either simple minded, don't like the commercialization of the sport (which if you have a brain, you realize is necessary to finance it), are past fans caught up on the 70s/80s/90s and are stuck in the past, or are such homers for their own region they blindly bad mouth the talent with the WoO.  They are still the premier spfit car group, they certainly aren't the 13 best individual drivers in the world, but then again, they never were.

There would have been a much larger outcry on this board if the Forsberg incident would have occured in Posse territory.

Why don't you ask Andy Forsberg about his $5K bonus. He might have a little hatred for WRG. I think you might get a few less than favorable responses from the people that run the Dirt Modified Tour of WRG after 2011 Syracuse show. The mofified winner was found to have an oversize fuelcell in tech after the race. So they only paid half the winners purse to Stewie Freisen. Were did the other half of the winners purse go (25K) ? So, in retrospect to WRG as the police would say after a mugging nothing to see here lets move along.

They ended up putting the remaining $25k into the mod tour point fund. The top 15 guys got an extra $1600 or so.

It's not the WoO ... it's this message board specifically.  95% of the guys that post regularly on this board have zero understanding of racing and the sport.  They just like the hear themselves speak.  Check your source of the information, not the WoO.

so ask foresberg what he thinks of the WOO-zers and the wrg?

been going dirt track racing a long time, the WOO-zers are fading away imo and it's time

for the young guns to take over.  and, i disagree that the WOO is steve and sammy, maybe the old days, not now...

Ascot was the greatest of all time..

West Capital wasn't half bad either..

Life is good...

It's not WoO that is hated,it's the WRG organisation & the people running it. They continually screw their OWN racers over, week in,week out. Why hell,go to a WoO event & just hang around the contracted drivers haulers & listen in on the conversations. There is barely a contracted driver who is even one bit happy with they way they are being treated. But like it has been the last few years, they only care about THEIR OWN pockets!!

Agreed! It's to the point where they're almost irrelevant, other than Schatz who is the best sprint car racer on the planet, like him or not(most people don't). The top regions of 410 racing all over the country have many drivers who are as good as if not better than most of the drivers on WOO tour, main difference is the funding. It shows with how much they are getting beat all around the country these days. They don't graduate anybody into the big leagues of nascar or Indy. They get no TV time. It's become a retirement home for aging sprint car racers. Any young drivers looking to further their career on a grand scale would be crazy to even consider the WOO. I don't think it's hatred. I mean a WOO show is still a good show just a bit overrated. If you live in an area like PA, OH, CA, Knoxville; you can see a just as good if not better show every week for half the ticket price of a WOO show. IMO the sky would not fall if the WOO ceased to exist. The teams would just race elsewhere and chase the money like the original outlaws used to do.

From what I gather it seems most drivers would love to be on the WoO tour, its like you say lack of funding. TV makes a big difference, over here in NZ we have a program called the Dirt which airs action from the countries premier track Western Springs and it is a great promotional tool.  In australia last year people were calling for the end of the World Series Sprintcars, but the TV show that highlighted each round made it look like the Greaatest form of racing on the planet.  It would be great if the WoO could do a similar sort of thing, not just show the racing but show the personalities and rivalries etc.  When you fans get a chance youtube Enzed World Series Sprintcars 12/13 all 14 or 15 rounds have the 51 minute TV shows on youtube, good way to while away a rainy day Smile

ON a side note, why do people dislike Shatz?  When he was interviewed on the Dirt here in NZ he seems like a really humble and down to earth guy who just happens to be really driven to succeed.  I imagine people just dont like him because he is the best, Same as the King when he always won

I certainly wouldn't go so far as calling it hatred but, I find the announcer to be annoying at best... Smile

I think lots of people love to watch them race, but are critical of certain business practices. As for Schatz, I have nothing at all against him but would like to see someone else win at Knoxville Nats. Some people make up all kinds of personal baloney. I don't care if they're good interviews, friendly in the pits or any of that. Just want to watch them race, & Schatz is obviously terrific.

Thats not what i'm trying to point out. The winning car at Syracuse in 2011 was found to have an oversize fuelcell. Don't you think that the next car to go through tech, and passes should have been given the victory, and the $50K winners purse. I am quite positive that quite a few of the cars that finished in back of Stewie would have liked to be bumped up a spot in the payoff line, and not getting an extra $1600 spiff in their point fund payout. BTW I seem to remember reading on a few local NY state message boards that there was some bitching about were their point fund checks were.

After what Schatz did at the nationals all I have for that guy is respect. That was not some hobby stock race somewhere...that was THE a-main at the Knoxville Nationals!

Haha, your post implied they kept the money for themselves, and now that's not what you were trying to point out.

People dislike Schatz for the same reason they used to boo Kinser, Sammy, etc... They don't like people who win all the time.

If the internet existed in the 80s, Steve and Karl Kinser would have been criticized daily for "cheating" or whatever else the haters could come up with. Just the nature of the game.

WOO had good TV coverage a few years back with quite a few events broadcasted live but it got less and less and now I don't know if they have any live or tape delayed coverage. I guess they couldn't find the sponship to cover the costs. You see the top late model sanctions on TV from time to time.

Not sure really about all the Schatz hate. Of course a lot of people root against the guy that wins a lot, just human nature, but it seems to be more than that. Some people say he's not fan friendly or personable, but I agree with you. He seems like a humble down to earth guy and a clean racer.

I forgot about NWFAN ... make that 96% that know nothing and just like to hear themselves talk ... instead of 95%.

i do agree with your percentage theory ......96% of the fans that i heard dissing sides were in the majority.  that would include me.

the four percent leaves many with the crying towel, after all the sobbing....and insist it was just racing.  there is justifiable racing and there is unsportsmanship like racing, i will take the latter all day long!

The WoO Sprint coverage is no longer because they failed to pay last years bill.

So that puts you in the 100% catagory then, you were dissing Sides & your crying & sobbing over an incident that happened a WEEK ago. It's funny how both the drivers & crews have let it go,& actually they both joke about it now. Yet your still here holding on & sobbing away over what happened, get over it cry baby. Careful,if the tears flow too much your gonna short circuit your keyboard out! LMFAO
