10 years ago we would not be having this conversation.....

Exactly!!!   I'm curious and this is no way a knock on racin boys but what if any are the rights fees that they pay for streaming radio coverage.   I realize that it's negotiated with the ASCS but it would seem a $$ agreement with Terry could have been reached.  If TMAC was worried about gate revenue he may have missed the bigger picture on where money is going to be made in the near future.  Streaming radio is an effective ad selling tool.  Terry is a sharp guy he will realize next year

Their never has been a live broadcast so why the big fuss this year get over it people either go or shut up oh and by the way been to it 5 yrs in a row cant go this yr but im not bitching just have to wait to till next year and go

This was never and ASCS National race until this year, and as Scott mentioned, accept for the STN PPV event, all ASCS National Races for the last 5 seasons have been broadcoast over the RacinBoys website without issue from the promoters. Those of us not in position to go to the National races outside our region appreciate what RacinBoys has been able to provide over the internet. I understand it is definitely a luxury, and i certainly enjoy beinging able to listen to.

Wow.  Talk about how spoiled we've become when someone gets this mad about a promoter deciding to make people actually buy a ticket to his race so people can find out live what happens.  Next thing you know people will be mad because the Nationals aren't broadcast on live televsion for free.  Instead, you have to actually pay money to either buy a ticket or watch them on pay per view online!

I know this is hard to believe but I actually remember having to wait a week or two for National Speedsport to come in the mail to find out who won.  Even without audio there will likely be updates posted on the social media sites throughout the evening and a full writeup by Bill W posted tomorrow.  I don't see a problem with Osky not being broadcast.  wink

wow lots of thoughts on this, the internet broadcast I think make more fans,

I have known Terry for many years, sometimes I hate him, many times I root for him,

for many years Terry has not spoke well of the 360 class of cars saying they are spending similar money to the 410s they need to move up in class, I have made all of the FRC at osky except the last two, not sure yet if I will go the the ultimate challenge yet on tuesday the crowds at osky have seemed to lose a few people every year,

personally everytime I listen to a race on the net makes me wish even more that I was there

I hope Terry really thought this through. I was a fan of his up untill i herd he wasnt allowing the broadcast. I work 7 days a week so there is no way i could make it out there for the race so this is my only way to stay informed. Lost alot of respect for him tonight. But i guess the all mighty dollar speaks. I will def make sure not to buy any of your merch anymore. As for Racin Boys, yall do great work & i appreciate the hard work yall do. Keep it up!

well maybe RacinBoys should have or ASCS should have talked with Terry and worked it out just because they have a deal with ascs they still have to ok it with the promotor aka. terry sounds like they waited and never talked to terry since they wait till the day of the race tell everybody so i would say they didnt ok it in advance so racinboys screwed up get over it and with how the handeled it i would say they never will have a chance to broadcast it next year or any other year that ascs is involed

I don't think people should be so quick to lambast McCarl.  I certainly am not fan of his but I'm just thinking there is much more to this than what Mr. Traylor has put on here and so far the only comment has come from his side of the issue.  Now if anyone on this forum has FACTUAL info as to the actual reasons the broadcast will not take place this is your time to put forth.  Until then I think an intelligent conclusion shold await some rebuttal from those responsible for the Osky show.

FYI, What you are mentioning is not an apples to apples comparison. Anyone can still listen to the live radio broadcast of any night of the Nationals, on the Knoxville radio station for free, broadcast over the internet. Now, being able to see it costs the viewer $$$, except for the final night, which i can understand not being broadcast. But, i can still listen to the final night, thanks to KNIA KRLS radio.

Just an idea. Why not have a blackout rule similar to the NFL, no audio or video in a 100mi radius? This would allow the promoter to get rights fees without hurting the gate. People outside that area would have access to the event on PPV or free audio

Well I live 6 hours away from the track and cannot drive there and be back for work in the morning. So as I have in the past when T-Mac comes to Husets I will ignore his cry baby ass and cheer for real drivers. I have gone to the Front Row challange before and being crammed into the stands like sardeens is not my idea of fun. So I will watch reruns on tv and wait for Wed. night at Knoxville.

It's a fact not fiction. I was informed by ASCS on Thursday afternoon. I also spoke with Terry in turns three and four during hots that night. Let me be very clear, I DON'T have a problem with Terry. But I don't agree with his concerns about ticket sales at the Front Row Challenge. He has a built in fan base just down the road, he should do OK tonight. I believe we could have helped his ticket sales (if needed) next year with a good broadcast/race tonight.

Again, I have promoted a handful of ASCS National and regional races the last three years, I know the risk. I only wish I had 15,000+ big time sprint car fans 40 miles away...that should be a slam dunk.

It's all good,  we will be back on the air Aug 16-17 at Mid America Speedway and Salina High Banks

I have to say that not all of us can make it to the speedway, I'm from PA and have a family to worry about, yet i'm still waiting for the time when I can take my baby boy on a trip to Iowa.  I'm glad T'Mac made it easier on my wallet as will without a doubt delay my trip until opening night of the Nationals.

They could have put the 100 mile blackout and charged $25 each night for the fans in other states who want to watch it. A decent amout of money was lost in the decision.

I was told in late April that this is the last year Terry will be promoting at Oskaloosa. His contract will not be renewed. The Sprint Invaders (a regional 360 group) had an event scheduled at Osky on April 10th. That event rained out. They wanted to reschedule soon thereafter and were unable to because Terry vetoed it. It seems his current contract allowed him that right. I have no idea if any of this is true. The person who told me this information is a long time racer at Knoxville and has given me other early insider information and he's always been accurate.

I completely disagree with Terry that Internet broadcasts hurt the gate. There's nothing like being at a live race. Any fan that can attend, will. It's too bad that he's blacked out the event. Maybe this and other decisions will end these two annual events. Maybe some other promoter will step in. Maybe all this is BS and I've wasted your time reading this post. I apologize in advance it that's the case.

I'm ready for Wednesday night. The 360 Nationals were awesome racing.

According to RacinBoys, this is the first ASCS National race in over 5 years they will not be broadcasting live at. For someone who is not attending this race, i am disappointed in McCarl's decision, nor am not surprised by promoter greed.

Why else would you have a race if not to make money

How much did you risk to put this race on

Maybe 0

I'm not trying to be rude but I'm not sure how a person could blackout a Internet stream.  Has this race ever been broadcast in the past?

I would think RacinBoys contract is with the ASCS. Wonder if they dropped the ball here. You would think they would control all of these rights in their sanctioning contact.

Event promoter chooses not to allow RacinBoys Radio webcast of tonight’s ‘Front Row Challenge’

Posted on: August 5th, 2013 by rb_admin

(Oskaloosa, IA) — RacinBoys was informed over the weekend  tonight’s Lucas Oil ASCS Sprint Car Dirt Series sanctioned “Front Row Challenge” will not be webcast.   Promoter Terry McCarl decided not to allow the event to be heard due to fears it would affect ticket sales for the event.  This is the first time in the five seasons RacinBoys has not been allowed to broadcast live a Lucas Oil ASCS national event.

“We are greatly disappointed we are not allowed to broadcast the races from Oskaloosa,” said RacinBoys President Scott Traylor.  “We were looking forward to bringing live coverage from a new venue and a traditional event such as the Front Row Challenge.  RacinBoys prides itself by making sure our listeners are fully informed on everything that goes on with the Lucas Oil ASCS and will still be in Oskaloosa covering the race with video, interviews and updates.”

Next scheduled RacinBoys Radio webcast of the Lucas Oil ASCS national tour is Friday, August 16 at Mid-America Speedway in South Coffeyville, Oklahoma.

Quit complaining and put up some serious $$$$ to broadcast it. its mccarls event and a damn good one. Nothing's free these days. Put up 10,000 to the purse and then maybe u could broadcast it. It's a business deal u should understand that .

I love the Monday and Tuesday night races in Osky.  Since we moved away from Iowa, if I could swing it I would love to come up for the 360 nationals, stay for Terry's races and come back home.  The 410 nationals are great, but too dang expensive and crowded for us.  The last two years we were in Iowa we went to Terry's races.  He sells child admission for 1/2 price.  We bought 3 adult seats and one child admission.  That gave us 4 seats for 3 adults.  Perfect.  One year it got rained out.  I sent the tickets back to them and got a check in the mail pretty darn quick.  When we started going to Knoxville on a weekly basis ~10-12 years ago Terry was putting the car in places other guys were not.  I always show up in his pit on the Sothern swing in February with an Osky shirt on.
