Searching for this car is a bit like looking for bigfoot. Sightings, close calls and information going back to it's creation being a bit foggy by just about all accounts.

If you hear the rest of the story from me, it's either because I've acquired ownership or it's been destroyed or someone else has gotten it.

I want to know the end of the story too.

13--1974

24--1977

75--1980's

Talked to Benny Taylor, he didn't know if the 13 and the 76 car were the same or not. Benny had a bad accident in June '75 and was out for 6mo.s

Talked to Harold Leep, he said the 76 car was a different car.

I am still a little cloudy on the '77 version as that car looks different to me.

Talked to Bob Walker, his memory said it might be Jelly Wilhelm who built the car(1976 version)

Talked to Wilhelm, He said he didn't build them either.

Cleveland or Parsons?

Benny Taylor- Pat Suchy 13:  Warren "Jelly" Wilhelm built the car. Wrecked in '73 and the season was finished out in a CAE sprinter(Stan Schoenberg's) that was stretched to fit the class. !974- T-top added by  Parsons after a rework by Walker.  Championship run to OkC title and the Army paint job was at the end of that year. Remember the 1975 championship run with Holman at OkC in another teams car? The 13 RENUMBERED 24 finished the deal in the last several races of 1975. More later.

This shot is not in 1977, but rather in late '75 after Holman got his points title. Leep is seen here possibly at a Fair date or a Winternationals in late '75. Around this time he was talking to Suchy About 1976.

Ladies and Gentleman the verdict is in on who built the original 76 car. Parsons. This car was started in the winter of '74-'75 and it was a little late to get to the track so the rebuilt 13 (Jelly) took to the dirt first. Dale Parsons drove the 76 car first(don't know the number) and blew the clutch early due to a linkage problem. The car was then brought out with Benny just one time because he had a season ending wreck which knocked him unconscious for a good while.

While Benny recovered, the Jelly car went to Holman to help him with his deal and the Parsons went to George Armstrong for a rebuild. Suchy then sent the car to Walker for a front torsion conversion. When the points season was over it was still being finished. When the 1976 season came the car was rechristened the Bi-Centennial Special with Harold Leep aboard. It was a workhorse as it won OkC titles two years in a row as well as the '76 NCRA title. It was then sold to Rudy Roberts.
