At some point Tyler Walker needs to deal with his demons. So long as people keep giving him another chance it will be harder for him to change. Racing cars should be pretty far down on his list of important things to be doing. I hope that he gets his life straight, and maybe a few years of car owners telling him to get lost would help that situation. When it comes to someones life, racing pales in the grand scheme of things. Tyler Walker needs to be shut down. Until he has his legal issues wrapped up and his personal issues under control I hope that he does not end up in a car. I am not saying that he should never race again, I am saying that he has bigger fish to fry at the moment then to be worrying about his next ride.

there are car owners in the pits with the same addictions as Tyler that are suporting there racing addiction with there drug addiction

Here are the charges he faces that I found on StGeorgeUtah.com....Walker and McDonald face a series of class B and class C misdemeanors related to drug possession and alcohol. They also face two drug-related third felonies each. In addition to these charges, Walker also faces a class B misdemeanor for DUI, and a third degree felony for fleeing from police. The article states they had a court date but it was continued to March 11th but I have not been able to find how that court date went.

His March 11th date was just a Roll Call appearance date he will be back in court April 15th for his next appearance.

I am well aware of that, and I know some of them. I also felt the same way about them as well. Unfortunately mind altering substances and racing have gone hand in hand for a good long time, perhaps as far back as the beginning of the sport. That does not make it right. It also does nothing to help the fact that Tyler has a serious problem. One that may very well end up costing him his life.

I doubt that a rule like that applies anywhere today. Any comments??

Follow my scenario please.

Joe Smith, at the age of 15, breaks into a store and steals items over $500 (felony) in value. He is caught, found guilty and serves the penalty issued by the court.

Ten years later we find Joe is married, has a steady job and helps out a friend with his race car. Suddenly Joe finds out he is a better driver than pit man.

So, in your eyes, Joe should not be allowed to race because of his felony conviction?

I'm sure Joe is glad you were not his judge!

I feel they should at least make him wait until the legal issues are taken care of. In this case where

drugs have been the issue (have been for many years) He should be forced to prove each week that

he is clean before strapping in. How do his competitors feel racing against him at such high

speeds? This can be life and death.

At least a few people grasped the main point of my post; Whether or not his ability to travel will be restricted, remanded to custody, will end up serving time, etc. If what JoriHughes said is true, I guess we'll find out after April 15th. Btw, I was SURE when news broke about Romo's contract that it was an April Fool's joke. Yea, not so much. I genuinely feel bad for Dallas fans.

Our legal system goes on at a slow pace for ever and ever. OJ Simpson got off with every one including his layers knowing he was guilty. I have been involved in a law suit for over 20 years against some drug companies. Its a bunch of us against a few drug companies, they will fight it out with us till most of us are dead, then they will win. I hope Tyler Walker will be able to beat his demons. There are so many well known people out there addicted to drugs that you know nothing about. I read an autobiography of a well known singer. He was taking 20-30 dexedrine a day, then someone gave him a sample of cocaine. He snorted cocaine every 20-30 minuets a day and went a week with out sleep. He did this every week and spent up to $1,500 a DAY on cocaine. After 20 years of addiction he and his wife went to a house near the desert and they licked the need for cocaine. He went to his car in they drive way and got out a $10,000 bag and flushed it down toilet. And by the way, you guys that think smokeing weed is ok, you are part of the drug abuse problem.

OJ was guilty? I thought the glove didn't fit?...............................

Tyler's April 15th date is a Roll Call date also (they do these to make sure they are going to keep showing up for court) so we won't know anything after that one either. They will set his preliminary hearing date after the 15th so I'm guessing this will be dragging on through the summer before he is formally charged with anything. The media will start covering the case when the preliminary hearing starts.

At the age of 15 Joe Smith would have been charged as a juvenile and his crime would not be on his record 10 years later.

Okay...change it to 18...same otherwise. (p.s. not all states do that...depends upon the type of crime.)

It was OJ's glove...He was on medication that prevented swelling...His lawyers advised him to stop taking meds so his hands (and joints) would swell up giving the appearance that the glove didn't fit...The same people that think that OJ is innocent are the same people that think OweBama is a great leader...#moronathon

I just heard that this week's AARN claims that Tyler is racing in central PA again this year. I'm sure a lot of people will have varying opinions on this, and will make those opinions VERY well known, on this and other forums. I guess what surprised me was I had assumed that with his recent legal issues, travel may be an issue. Either way, here's to hoping that he gets straightened out and can put his troubles behind him.

It's not about his ability to travel, as it appears the court systems will allow them to drag the legal deal out for a very long time.

What I have a problem with is: 1) He has an addiction problem to narcotics. It's well documented and he apparently has an alcohol addiction too. How can ANY other competitor feel safe on the track with this jerk at 140 mph? As a car owner (who does not have an addiction problem [what goes on in PA?]) if this was happening at our race track, I would be protesting or withdrawing my team. 2)After his dispicable performance at Williams Grove last year, to the fans, the flagman(men), the promotors and other competitors, I find it hard to believe that WG would allow him to ever race there again. 3) I can not and will never understand a car owner putting this person in a race car!! I don't care if it was GOD himself waving cash in front of me - I would never consider putting this individual in a race car and opening up myself, my team, my family from any chance of liability because I put this known offender in "weapon".

Hopefully the race tracks involved will do some speedy talking to the people involved and get some kind of resolution worked out. Obviously, he should be standing on the trailer door peeing into a cup 1 minute before he gets in the car for hotlaps and they better have a 1 minute test to show its clear or not and have a professional doing the test!

So a guy who drinks 2 30 packs of beer a day, and not on race day should be able to drive a race car, but a guy who smokes pot every day and not on race day should not be in a race car. I do not see any difference in these two drugs other than one is legal and one isn't. I don't understand the logic here. The drunk will pass a piss test if he drank two days before, but I stoner won't. Just because the drug is still in his sytem days or weeks at a time does not mean he was High the day he took the test. I admit I have drank beer ( quit in 2006) and I smoke pot Still do to this day). I can tell you right now that Beer effects your system harder than any pot That I've ever smoked. I can smoke pot All day and wake up tomorrow with no effects from the drug, but if i drink 2 30 packs in a day and wake up the next morning I'm still drunk and hung over. How many drivers have raced hung over and still drunk from the night before? By this logic he shouldn't even be in the pits. What's funny is a lot of you crying for drug tests are probably drunks, and being hypercritic. A drug is a Drug and Alcohol is one of the worst. It's just looked at differently because it is legal.
