I enjoy watching the Nationwide series way more than NASCAR if Im going to watch pavement stockcar racing. I think the racing is way better and more exciting.

Last years brickyard race was worse than Bristol. The night race in the summer still has alot of seats filled up.

The biggest problem with Nascar is the lack of drivers who make people want to buy a ticket. In the 90s, you had Earnhardt who was obviously your top draw, but you had legit 8 to 10 other guys who sold a ton of merchandise and had really big fanbases.

Now you have 2 or 3 who have that and there are drivers that are there who make people turn the channel (Johnson, both Busch's) when they win.

The Danicamania crap doesn't really bother me that much. Been watching everyone drool over Dale Jr. for the last 10 years and he sucks too. The other stuff is right on the head though. New cars have killed it. Then, DW just makes me want to puke. I feel like I am listening to a hillbilly from 1925 talk about racing. Some of the crap I don't even understand. Why is everyone referred to as a "cat". And WTF is a gaggle?

The two things carrying NASCAR presently would be Junior and Danicky. I think they have something going with the various networks to always find a way to "plug" those two...even when they are not doing well.

I believe their TV contracts come up for renewal next year and it will be intersting to see what happens. My "viewing" of their races mostly takes place during the last 20 laps. I never sit and watch a complete race. Waatch Rosie devour a buffet line is far more exciting!

The best invention in the world for Nascar racing is DVR. Hit record, go do something else for about 3 hours. Fast forward through the race until you see smoke. (not Tony Stewart--actual smoke) See what happened, then fast forward until you see smoke. See what happened. Repeat.

Then, fast forward until there are 30 laps to go. Grab a beer. Presto. You just watched all of the excitement of an entire Nascar race in 20 minutes.

(I must admit though, I have been watching the Nationwide races a little more just to see what the kid is going to do.)

I really don't think what NASCAR has or hasn't done is driving attendance. More than anything, its been a fad to many & is just on the way down. The hardcore supporters are still going more than likely despite the economy, its the casual fan that is no longer attending. At Texas Motor Speedway, they had 200K+ folks the first few years the track was open. Then they got a second race date and the urgency to make that one yearly date was no longer there. Now they've removed seats and dropped the ticket prices in recent years and the crowds still haven't returned. Bristol, among others, just over built to meet the "fad demand" & now that most have "been there, done that" they're not coming back. Sure is more comfortable & easier to get in and out of a track when there are less people there actually.

Not the economy, but the greed of the track owner and NASCAR. Compare ticket prices of 10 years ago and today. Far exceeds inflation. Track owners and NASCAR have severely injured the golden goose.

I kinda thought the Campingworld trucks are more exciting to watch, besides not taking all day to try knock the doors and fenders off them.. Im sorry I like racing "racing, not wrecking, but asphalt stock car racing has gotten sooo boring until they start to crash sh&t up.. lord im sorry I said that, but im just being honest..

Yeah, I'd much rather enjoy watching Matt Kenseth win the title running away while winning only one race all season. (2003) Jimmie has been dominate all season long and only gets better during the chase. The chase has proved to be very exciting over the years. You must be a fairboard member

I'm a Cub fan too and it's hard to watch someone run away with the championship like we do every year. Maybe if they reset the points in baseball at the end of August for us? No, wouldn't matter. We can't win in Sept. either!
