I remembered a few others...1991 Nazareth National for Indy cars then Flemington on the way home.
1985(?) Daytona for the Firecracker 400 then Volusia for late models

in 2009 I was working for a USAC sprint team and we raced a day race at the Red Hill Raceway in Sumner Illinois and the trecked over to the Haubstadt track to run at night.
What made it so difficult was that the Red Hill race was a winged race and the Haubstadt was a non wing race. We even changed an axle at Haubstadt before we ran and 4 tires. Think we ran 6th wing and 5th non wing.
That was a lot of fun

I believe in the "World According to Kevin Eckert" you must catch at least one "A" main for it to count.
Back in 1988 (I believe) the WoO were at Fairgrounds Speedway in OKC on a Saturday afternoon. That night the NCRA outlaw sprints were at Tulsa Speedway and once the WoO show was complete at OKC around 5:00 pm then a lot of drivers and tons of fans loaded up and headed up the Turner Turnpike o Tulsa Speedway. There was people passing each other left and right (literally) and drafting was the norm. Got there around 7:30 pm start time and they held up the races until about 8:00 pm or 8:30 pm. The pits were full and the stands were packed. Should have seen all the Tulsa fans (who had no idea what was going on) getting out of their seats and looking behind the stands at the row of rigs coming in.
I have caught several since but that was the highlight.

Scored the "same night" double on four occasions. I saw a complete show at the first track and caught the A-main at the second trackā¦
PENNSYLVANIA
5/1/1993: PORT ROYAL TO SELINSGROVE: Saw Keith Kauffman win the show at Port Royal then a quick drive up to Selinsgrove and caught Donnie Kreitz win the A-main there.
INDIANA
8/14/1999: 16th STREET TO PUTNAMVILLE: 16th Street Speedway where Jay Drake won a USAC regional midget feature then off to Lincoln Park Speedway in Putnamville to witness Brad Fox win a sprint car A-main there.
10/14/2000: GAS CITY TO TERRE HAUTE: The Gas City feature was won by Corey Smith then sped off to Terre Haute for the U.S. Dirt Nationals. Saw Kevin Thomas win the non-wing A there. Also saw Wayne Johnson win the ASCS 360 A and Brad Furr win the non-sanctioned winged 410 A. The Gas City show started late afternoon and ended at 7. Made it to Terre Haute by 9 to see all three sprint car A's. Four different sprint car A-mains in one "night" at two different tracks.
7/12/2003: PARAGON TO PUTNAMVILLE: Paragon finishes up early with Jon Sciscoe winning the 40 lap Johnson Memorial. Took the quick 30 minute drive up IN 67/US 231/US 40 to Putnamville and saw Derek Davidson win the sprint A-main there.
Accomplished the "same day/night" complete show double on many, many occasions with an afternoon show at the first track and a complete show in the evening at a second track: PIR to Manzy, Springfield to Granite City, Springfield to Farmington, Springfield to Spoon River, Springfield to Putnamville, Gateway to Godfrey, Indy Fairgrounds to Anderson, 16th Street to Terre Haute, Indy 500 to IRP, Indy 500 to Haubstadt, Indy 500 to Eldora, Du Quoin to Haubstadt, Du Quoin to Pevely, Gateway to Double X and the Port Royal Labor Day Classic to Selinsgrove.

It is kind of funny to hear the different definitions of a double. To me, a double is two complete shows. Catching the last race of the night really does not seem like completing a double.
I have had several traditional doubles but they all revolved around NASCAR/Indy races during the day and short track racing at night.
I always looked forward to the NSSN SuperFans award. I remember that they had some kind of rule for doubles and what consisted a double. However, I do not remember what it was. (Maybe all of the A-main events at the track??)
I remember when Henry Witt of Waco, Tx was chasing an IMCA modified championship. He convinced a couple of tracks to work with him on the schedule for the night. At the primary track, he would show up and run the heat races and the A-main. They would schedule the A-main to be the first A main of the night. He would then catch a small plane to go to another track where he had a seperate crew with a seperate car. He would then start scratch on the field in that car. They would always run the modifeds as the last race of the night. Because of this, IMCA changed the rules for number of races in the day that could be used for national points.
If you wanted to really strech the meaning of the double there was a group of fans that got one every Saturday night. It is possible, to sit at the top row at Cowtown Speedway and look over to the races at Kennedale Speedway Park. If you really know the cars, you can somewhat follow the races. I know that people would watch the races at Cowtown and at every downtime they would start watching the races at KSP.

Scoring the "double" is when you get in two races at two different tracks in one day, according to an editorial in sprint/midget magazine Flat Out by Bob Mays.
Apparently many people have done it, but I don't know how its possible unless one is an afternoon race (a rarity today) and the other a night race, but this article talked about races both at night. Seems impossible, but he listed several tracks (two tracks in close proximity) where its been done. I've never done it but there must be a few of you out there who have.
OR, are there still a lot of afternoon races these days?

Scored many doubles in my home state of Pennsylvania. An interesting one this year was Indy cars at Milwaukee to IRA sprints at Beaver Dam. Both new tracks in a new state for me. I was in Indiana for USAC midget week, Indiana has quickly become my second favorite state.

Did it many times during the 70's and early 80's when there were still a lot of day shows.

This one goes back further.Bud raced a full program at the Sedalia fairgrounds on Memorial Day and then we lit out for Riverside,Mo where the evening races were just beginning. They finished first and second, respectively. He was driving for Bob Burns and they always started 33 cars on that little 1/4 mile track for that one !
Of course that ride from Sedalia back to Kansas City was a little hairy but it was all fun.Them were the days !

Never did Sedalia and Riverside, but several times did a Sedalia Sunday afternoon and a Marshall, MO Sunday night. It was a lot less hectic traveling between the two, because they were only 30 miles apart. The longest one I ever did was a Knoxville Sunday afternoon (assuming it was a Nationals Saturday night rainout makeup race, but really don't remember) then making it to Marshall in time for the features Sunday night.

Best one I ever seen was Kevin Gobrecht, driving the Zemco #1, win at Lincoln Speedway and Port Royal Speedway on the same day THEN turn around and win at Williams Grove the very next day! 3 wins in two days! It was something special to see and one of the memories I will always remember about Kevin Gobrecht.

One more comment on those good old days "doubles".......I'm sure it's the same in other localities.....those were the days of 2 lane highways and we had not yet come to love the interstate limited access routes.
50 hiway between Knsas City and Sedalia was thrilling enough but anybody who ever traveled the old "Ho Chi Min Trail" between Knoxville and K.C.(especially at night in the fog) had more thrills than the racetrack !

I scored my first double earlier this summer. I made the trip from Watkins Glen (my first Nascar race) to Sportsman's Speedway in Knox, PA. For those unfamiliar with Sportsman's, it's about a 6-hour drive from the Glen down into Pennsylvania. I figured this had to be one of the most unique doubles ever done.

Indy to Kokomo
Indy to Indiana State Fairgrounds
Milwaukee Mile to Powercom (Might have been Dodge County?)
Laguna Seca to Watsonville/Ocean
Concord to the dirt track @ Lowes for the World Finals

The Port Royal to Selinsgrove and Susquehanna to Penn National doubles were easy to do a while back. I did many of those. The Syracuse to Oswego or Syracuse to Rolling Wheels doubles were very easy to do. Did one in 2012 as I sat with Kyle Larson's parents at Rockingham Speedway as Kyle clinched the K&N East championship, then on to The Dirt Track at Charlotte for night two of the World Finals. The most unique double, although I don't count it because we only saw the feature at the second track, was seeing the USAC Silver Crown and IRL races at Richmond International Speedway then on to Lincoln Speedway where due to weather issues we caught the sprint car feature. They were still selling admission tickets at 2:30 AM. Also did NASCAR Busch at Las Vegas then crossed the parking lot to watch WoO on the dirt track.

Not Sprint Cars, but each of these have included I-94 Speedway in Fergus Falls, MN. They run a Friday night show. Back in 2010 Viking Speedway in Alexandria, MN held their first night of a big Modified race on a Friday night. 45 minutes north I-94 held their regular show. After much of the show was done in Alexandria, some friends and I hightailed it to Fergus Falls to catch about the last 33% of their show.
A year later I attended a Friday night fair race in Ada, MN that started an hour earlier than normal. They normally run Thursdays. I watched the entire event, took my time getting home, and remembered Fergus Falls was running make-up features and would more than likely get done a little late. I decided to make the 1 1/2 hour trip between the two and managed to catch the last three races of the night. The last race of the night was a four cylinder feature. Amazingly, I watched one driver come from dead last to contend for the lead only to finish 3rd, but the interesting part was that I watched the same guy win the feature in Ada earlier in the night!
I race a Dirt Late Model on a regular basis, and since my home track dropped us (and is now closed) I don't race anywhere regularly. So a few weeks after the Ada-Fergus Falls double, I was deciding where to race that Friday night, as I watched storm clouds head in the Fergus Falls direction. An hour north of me is Grand Forks, ND and an hour southeast is Fergus Falls. Assuming Fergus would rain out I made the trip to Grand Forks. I put in my full night, loaded my car and watched the Sprint Car feature.
As I made my way to my trailer I found out that Fergus Falls had just started their night of racing after a rain delay. Thinking it could be a three-hour+ event, and inspired in part by the four cylinder driver a few weeks before, I hit the road for the two hour trip and got in touch with someone who was in Fergus Falls to keep me updated on the event. By the time I got halfway there, I found out that by the time I was 3/4 of the way there my feature would probably be on the track due to them speeding up the show, so I called it a night. Since then, I've kind of hoped the stars would align to give me another shot at it. LOL

I did a daily double "plus" one time. I originally went to Port Royal on a Saturday night. Lincoln was under a rain delay. As soon as the sprint feature was over at Port we went to Lincoln . I don't have a clue what time we got there but we only missed the first heat race. After that we went to a friends house in York and somehow eneded up painting her kitchen / dining room or dining room / living room . I don't remember which . Then Sunday morning we headed home near Port Royal. We got to the Thompsontown exit on 322 and passed some enduro cars headed to Williams Grove. We got off the exit and headed back the way we came to Willimas Grove, to see another 200 laps.
So I got to see three shows at 3 different tracks and painted a house , all in 24 hours!
I've done many ordinary daily doubles over the years. LOL

I can't remember all of them but here are a few:
August 1985: Saturday Springfield Mile USAC Silver Crown (afternoon) & Little Springfield USAC Midgets (Saturday Night).
August 1986: USAC Midgets Springfield Mile Sunday afternoon & Sunday Night Badger Midgets at Angell Park. (The night before Saturday at Belleville for Belleville Midget Nationals finale). (With race car)
August 1987: USAC Midgets Springfield Mile Sunday afternoon & Sunday Night Badger Midgets at Angell Park. (With race cars made feature both events)
August 1988: USAC Silver Crown Springfield Mile Saturday afternoon & Saturday Night Badger Midgets at Angell Park (used my friends airplane to do that one). Then drove after Sun Prairie back to Springfield to run the USAC Midgets at the Mile. (with race car, finished fourth at Springfield in Midget best effort of the weekend)
August 1992: Saturday afternoon Springfield Mile USAC Midgets & Grundy County Speedway UMARA Midgets(Saturday Night). (with dirt and pavement car)
August 2005: Saturday Springfield Mile USAC Silver Crown (afternoon) & Hut 100 at Terre Haute Saturday Night. Announced Hut 100.
August 2005: USAC Sprint Cars at Milwaukee Mile Saturday afternoon, then Saturday Night USAC Midgets at Angell Park Speedway. Announced both events.
Plus: Five times IRL Indy Car at Milwaukee Sunday afternoon then Sunday Night at Angell Park Speedway for Badger, so announcing so watching. Plus once Sunday afternoon ALMS Sports Cars (can we mention that on this board?) then Badger Midgets at Angell Park that night.
I'm forgetting some others! Not in Kevin Eckert's or a few others league but still some memorable times.
