The sad thing about it is that when they took there shot with having and televising the races at Bristol was probably their best shot and obviously it didn't work out the way they wanted or they would still be having that race yearly. I did hear somewhere that 1 of the biggest demises of the Bristol race was the cleanup cost of the entire facility because of all the dust.
Oh well, we probably just need to be happy that the sprint car races don't have the circus crowd of a Nascar race or we'd be complaining about that. Those pavement car fans don't know what their missing.

And we would be yelling at them to sit down . Why do they stand up all the time when they pay for a SEAT.
We need more sprint car racing at our home track.

I was told, by a seasoned NASCAR fan, that it had something to do with a "rhoid" problem.

Speed channel is a great channel...on weekends from February to December. But man those other
shows are brutal. Who wants to watch re-runs of Xzibit acting like a tool while rigging up POS cars?
I would prefer FoxSports1 idea instead but I do love the 100 hours of live coverage during
speedweeks. Always nice to watch when its cold and miserable in Knoxville.

Dog F1 all you want because if you're a hater, you're in the minority, even if you combine all American motorsports audiences to compare. I will surely miss F1 on speed, I never miss a practice session, qualifying or a race...

I don't know alot about F1 but those cars sure do look mean, I bet it would be quite a ride to be in the seat of 1. I think the politics behind the scenes in F1 is beyond belief though.

No more politics there than in any other competitive sport that has the ability to make a profit ie NASCAR, NFL, NBA, MLB, NCAA... I could go on and on...

Shows how much I know about F1, I'm probably basing that off something I saw about it from the 70's.

I'm not banging on FI, but their politics are vastly differen't than any of those sports you've mention, and a hell of a lot more varied. Just take a quick look at the subjects in this forum.
Half the lies they tell about me aren't true.

We agree to disagree......I don't think that any sport can top the BCS when it comes to politics.

Seriously - F1 lost me when they went to paddle-shifting ... and telemetry ... and more engineers than crew members ... and then the drivers turned into "pilots" being directed how to 'finish' (or not) according to their team's "Mission Control's agenda" ... but to each his own... the technology is somewhat interesting (because I like technology - just not on racecars) but their "racing" isn't -- at all... IMHO.

Although it is quite expensive, I would encourage any race to attend a Formula 1 event. Due to my wife's job I have lived in Hockenheim for the past 14 months and was able to walk to the race in July. I have been to Cup races, Indy car races and the last 17 Knoxville Nationals and countless other sprint car races. The start of a F1 race is something to behold. I am going to miss British Sky's Formula 1 Channel when we move back next July. They obviously favor Button and Hamilton but the call a spade a spade.

I would rather have Larry Mac and Kenny Wallace ,as to have know it all "brother Mikey Waltrip" and his stupid pie hole spewing all that woulda coulda shoulda crap in a never ending opinion of everything. Is there ever anything that this lame brain can't comment about, sick of him and his brother and the NBA reject too,I don't care how many cars they own, sponsor or yap about they those three are the pure pits. bring back Thursday night thunder and more sprint car races it doesn't have to be the Outlaws either, how about three weeks at Attica, two weeks at Skagit, and five Sunday nights at Husets,it would kick some butt and a couple Saturdays at Lincoln or Grandview, now talk about grassroots racing, that would sell the heck out of those shows.Yes, nothing against the Despain hoo -rah show on Sundays but Husets would be awesome on National t.v.

I wonder how the telecast of the Chili Bowl on CBS went earlier this year? I know it was in the middle of a Saturday afternoon a few weeks after the race, but never the less was on a major network. I'm sure Lucas Oil put up the money for the broadcast. Even the tape delayed races that used to be on the Outdoor Channel were better than nothing. I wonder what is going to happen to any taped coverage of the Nationals and other races or live coverage of the World Fianls. Are we all just out of luck going forward once the change takes place?

I hate to say this as I absolutely LOVE Sprints and Open Wheel racing but you compare the technology in F-1 as being interesting and the racing is not. Kind of sounds like a follow the leader mentality of the Outlaws, doesn't it? Both types of racing has plenty of 'racing' for position with the middle to back markers, but as for lead changes, not so much. With that being said, racing cars are racing cars. More need to be put on the air, and that would satisfy most every type of fan. Sprints, Arca, F-1, Mods, kind of like the aforementioned TNN broadcasts. Hell, run reruns of old races instead of that Auction crap. Set the DVR and watch on an otherwise boring Saturday night....JMO

I'm really going to miss prime time shows that feature guessing how fast two cars can cover a quarter-mile drag strip ... not.

They're showing Midgets from Belle-Claire rite now 3pm Central.
|
That would be the On the Edge show.
They very rarely tell us what's actually going to be on the show, whether it's on my DirecTV on-screen guide, or on their website.
They're just as bad as NBC Sports Motorsports Hour. I guess were just supposed to DVR it every time it's on and sort through it later.

Housen...I like your idea but the all-mighty dollar plays into it.
Last I knew it cost "about" $45K to do a taping, editing, etc for a decent show to be shown "later" and I don't think the advertising buck$ are there for this to be done.
Shoot, if I had my way there would be a 24-hour sprint car channel with an occasional posting from some Posse member as to why Larson is Posse!
