Amen!

Here's an interesting thought about a couple of the problems. Has anyone ever knocked on the doors of the campers that are running their a/c and tell them that is agaist the rules??? Or ask if they want to run their a/c they have to pay like they were staying the month??? The campers that are staying extra days has anyone ever tried to collect from them??? Just wondering..

I'm okay with getting rid of the children's ticket as long as they renumber the seats to accomodate the actual size of the average racefan's butt. There are many of us that pay for an extra child's ticket just to try to get a little more room.

I don't think they'll ever do it anyway, but my suggestion was to do away with them (they don't have children's Saturday night tickets anyway) and LOWER the ticket price for all (so it may be a wash if say they lowered tickets $5-7, but you have a group of 2 or more.

Current adult tickets = $40 each

Current child tickets = $20 each

2 adults + 1 child ticket for room = $100

Make all tickets adult tickets and lower price to $33-36 each - 3 tickets = $99-108

I am making the assumption that 1 of ever 3 tickets currently sold is a child ticket (which probably isn't the case, it's probably more along the lines of 1 for every 5 (which is my high end ticket price of $36).

Since I don't work in the ticket office, not a fairboard member, or an employee of the Raceway, I have no idea if my estimate of 1 in 5 tickets sold being a child ticket are even close to correct.

What I do know is that people continually complain that the tickets cost too much (or that the increase in price every 3-4 years (by $2 per NIGHT last time).

I'm merely offering an alternative. Those of us that attend that have children likely will break even, those that buy a child seat for the room will likely break even, those that don't buy children's tickets will see a DECREASE in ticket costs.

The ONLY people that would see a ticket increase would be those that purchase child tickets for ADULTS to use (which they shouldn't be doing anyway, but the few bad apples make the rules for the rest of us unfortunately).

Overall, it'd make it easier for the track (1 ticket price for each tier instead of 2 ticket prices for each tier), easier for those that overbuy (no need in going in to "change" a ticket from a child to an adult so you can sell it to a stranger), and easier for those that attend (don't have to worry about making sure that the kid in your group has the child ticket when going through the gate).

But, it's just a SUGGESTION.

I like your suggestion of renumbering the seats as well, but I don't think that will ever happen due to people that buy tickets year to year (if they currently buy all 32 seats in the row and you renumber them to only have 30 tickets, who do you "bump" to get them their other 2 tickets with their group??). From a customer service standpoint, it'd be a NIGHTMARE.

Luvit, You are right that has not been done in the past that I'm aware. That is the reason we are looking at getting someone to be there full time. Vande77 The idea of getting rid of childs tickets for all of the 410 Nationals has already been discussed. We would like to get rid of them and make 1 price. It is very hard to police who is under 14. We do plan on doing a better job this year. You would not beleive the amount of people who say they are 14 and have full grey beards!

This may have been said already and I missed it, but I'll say it again if so. We stayed their seasonally for many years. We barely go now, but when they keep increasing the people that are there week in and week out. I am afraid they will run off the people that keep supporting them every week. It's not like they have a lake or anything, 99% of the people are there for the races. I agree there needs to be an additional shower house put in or an upgrade on the current one.

We go camping in Southern Missouri now and pay less and have showers better than our house.

From what i am hearing here in the campground, there is going to be a few less people to fill the grandstands next year and that is not the goal here. It doesn't sound like the folks in the campground are going to welcome your full time guy with open arms. So everyone is going to be penalized another $100 so your full time guy can monitor the few that run their air all week and stay too much. The rules addressing both of those have been passed out several times.

I hope that is not the case. But in order to do the maintenance the board felt it was neccesary. I beleive the rules have been handed out a few times but if people don't follow them and there is no one around to enforce them they are not any good. I feel the improvements and improved maintenance will be worth it. The $100 is for improvements.

Yes I am on the board. Are you from Knoxville Woo14? We want to work on the roads, improve the electrical system (which are the two major costs.) Build a new after hours check-in area, hire someone to overlook the campground, etc. I'm glad people camp there as it is a great part of the racing community. I camp myself in other communities and I think season camping at the North campgrounds is a pretty good bargain for everything you get! Making things better there will only make camping better!

I am not from Knoxville...I am from sioux falls and drive 4 and half hours to camp there every weekend...wouldnt miss it for anything...just frustrating when you spend all that money getting there and staying there and have to dodge 14 potholes that are a foot deep each...and the security light by our camper has not worked once all year...told John about it second week there and reminded him and still nothing...

I don't camp at the North Campgrounds, so I will stay out of it, except to say that the price seems pretty fair. As for the track, I have two friends that buy two adult and one child ticket between them for the extra room. My suggestion on the child tickets, is to maybe due away with the age limit, and due like they do at amusement rides, have a height limit. Then you won't have to quess their age. I like the idea of making seats wider. I know it would be a pain, but it would only be a problem the first year. I see way too many 300+ lb. people in my row putting a big time squeeze on my butt room! I feel the spaces are too small now. I also have an expectation as to the room I am suppose to have, but almost never get. It's bad enough when it's 104 degrees without being stuck to the people next to you. Just food for thought as, there is always room for improvement. I believe that the racing at Knoxville is about as good as it gets. So I'll be there! Look for me, I'm the grey haired guy, stuck to the two supersized people sitting next to me!
