No worries Doty, There are much more Brad fans than there are Sammy haters.. You are the only commentator in Sprint car racing that can tell the viewers pretty much exactly what is going on, on the track cause you've walked the walk. Many times I have heard you "politely" correct another commentators when they have not made the correct assessment. Keep fighting the good fight. And........Go Sammy

If the leader does NOT start out front, then that leader got one hell of a jump...just sayin'....

If the WOO officials enforce the rules like they should, then Sammy would have lined up beside Ed Lynch in the lower groove like they are supposed to do at the start of any race. Sammy wanted the outside groove so bad that he started the race at Lynch's tailtank in the outside line so he could root his way to the top with no regard to the outside starter. The flagman should have turned on the yellow lights and put Sammy down on the pole where he belonged in the first place. Then if he cant follow the rules on the next restart, send his ass to the pits. It's up to the officials to enforce the rules and not be intimidated by ANY driver. Maybe they will LEARN from Sammy's actions.

Curt, you've lifted before, haven't you? The slider came up a bit short, okay maybe even a lot short, but one can still get on the brakes go under and right on by or return the favor the next corner, right? Hope things are going well, you still putting out fires for the KCFD? Take It Easy....

How can someone go to races for 30 years and not know how the yellow flag is handled? I think thats the one thing in sprint car racing that hasnt changed. If you come to a stop on the track, wheather your the cause of it or not, unless its a saftey issue, you tag the rear. Yep no matter who you are...

Im a Sammy fan. The Paul deal was Sammys fault. The Darrah was a racing deal imo. And that is just that my opinion. Lots of folks on here hate Sammy as you can tell by all the posts that started over this. SK has done this a few times as well...anyone remember the Gold Cup a few years ago when SK took out Barnes? Im sure it is on you tube. What about this last weekend all star race...Sebetto takes out the blue 9 car. Nothin said about it. I dont know if I had a point I was trying to make there...just sayin. All you haters gotta ask yourself something tho...when Sammy does retire...who ya gonna hate on then? Cause ya know that you will have to hate on someone.

... spin it boys, your video analyse showing the moment of inertia added right rear shock compression that interacted the throttle linkage angle... OH, BULL SNOT!!! Both incidents broken down in to three simple, southern words. They got "Swindelled"® Classic encore performance.

Sammy got his spot back because he DID NOT come to a stop as a result of either incident. As far as the restarts are concerned, the cars line up side by side, but the leader chooses where to get on the throttle--he can go any time once he passes the cone between 3&4. Unlike the initial starts, the front row does not need to stay side-by-side until reaching the line in turn 4. Once the leader goes, the rest of the field is free to fire.

They line up side by side but the 2nd place guy cannot go until after the leader goes and he has an area on the track in which he can choose to go. They are very lenient on the leader getting a big jump. I agree that the double file restarts screw the guys that get stuck in the non-prefferd lanes. At WG a few eeks ago, it was the opposite. The track was single lane around the bottom so the guys re-starting on the outside were screwed. Personally I'd rather see them restart single file and the drivers have to work to pass the guy in front of them.

Thanks again for your comments Brad, not everyone who writes on this forum is a half blind drunk or out of it using Kleenex or hiding behind a keyboard,I for one have spent as much time crewing on many a race car, some were some were just poor guys, filling fields but needing help,I have thousands of hours in the shop, over, under and around the racecars and pits and have sweated and busted my ass as much as anybody. So I feel I'm just not a ticket buyer or tv viewer with no inkling about any of these situations, its time to do,as many feel its time, lets move on,it will occur again,no matter who it is,its racing, things happen the best guys and the poorest luck guys.Eye witness to history, remember it takes them all to make a field so I respect each and everyone of them, even Sammy Swindell.

Explain to me how Swindell essentially admitted he took out Darrah in the interview, yet its somehow justified. Swindell himself didn't say he drifted up or tried to correct or anything of the like, yet some of you (of course MSPN never sees anything as it is) say it was a pure "racing incident".

Beyond this, someone being a good driver doesn't make them a good commentator or good at analyzing anything by default. There is no shortage of former NFL, NBA, MLB players who have been terrible announcers. And, again, some people like to just kiss ass so they'll coddle Brad no matter how off base he was. You know you're heading down the wrong line of thinking when MSPN agrees with you. It's a good rule of thumb to follow.

Thanks Johnny. I didnt know the restarts worked like that. If thats the case then Cody should have had his nose against Ed's rear bumper and then Sammy would have had to blatantly drive through him like he did Paul. So it looks like it could be Cody's fault for givin Sammy 3 feet of clearance. And believe it or not folks I am not a Sammy hater. I realize that when Sammy and Steve are gone there will be a void that no one will ever fill. You would think that in 35 years you would have a driver or 2 come along as good as either one of these guys but it hasn,t happened. They are still puttin it to the younger guys at near 60 yrs. old. We need to enjoy them while we can. I will say in my 50 years of going to the races there was one driver that i saw that was WITHOUT A DOUBT as good as either one of these guys and his name was HAROLD LEEP. He manhandled a car like nobody i've ever seen, period.

OK , got a story for ya. August 1998, Cottage Grove Speedway

Sammy was leading the A main on the last lap. Steve was in second place and threw a bad slider on Sammy coming out of turn two. They made contact and both slowed to gather themselves. In the meantime, Donny Schatz was in third and shot by both of them to get his very first WoO win. Of course Sammy was pissed, rightfully so! He then proceded to use Steve`s tailtank as a battering ram the entire cooldown lap and thru the track exit to the pits. Except he never went into the pits. He takes a hard left back onto the track and continues around to the flagstand where Donny is getting out and the fans are cheering for him. Sammy then does a 360 around Donny and jumps out and immediatly gets in an Outlaw officials face for about 3 or 4 minutes. They finally get him calmed enough to get him off the track. Now the reason I`m telling this story is just to show even when everyone knows Sammy was wronged, he has to go and screw it up and still make an ass out of himself! After the pits opened up everyone headed for Sammy and Steve`s trailers as they were parked side by side. Sammy never came out and the Shirt shop (in the trailer then) never opened. Steve on the otherhand, had his customary smoke in the trailer and proceded to come out and start signing stuff as if nothing happened. Funny how getting screwed over works against you when you can`t keep your emotions in check!

Or, maybe this is an illustration of how many dumb people go to the races (any Swindell fans). Nothing more. Just like people who cheer when drivers wreck, dumb people, Swindell fans and them alike.
