1st paragraph, last sentence: So far this year, Sides is not racing with the Outlaws.

I've been to Vegas the PAS and tulare and sides has raced with the outlaws in all three shows.
We need more sprint car racing at our home track.

First, I don't think Jason is running for or with the WoO. He is running in their shows because they are the best paying available (and nearly the only races right now). My understanding is that he is not contracted with them this year, and so does not get tow money. Not sure what else he doesn't get.

Second, I believe Jason's points money was withheld as punishment last year. So long as a driver has paid the membership fee (and any driver who runs a WoO race must), that driver is eligible to collect whatever point money he accumulates. Could be wrong, but I think the WoO pays down to 20th in points. Do you really think Sammy Swindell did not collect point money last year? He was NOT under contract with the WoO.

Third, I have a problem with the WoO restricting a driver from racing when there is no scheduled WoO show, the show has been rained out or other wise cancelled. I'm fine with restrictions of a couple of days and some number of miles of a scheduled show.

Congratulations! An on-topic, intelligent factual post. I think I want to meet you!

Sides has raced all the Woo shows this year so and most likely continue because he know where the big purses are over 360 or all stars LOL

That was my point. I was noting an interesting statement in paragraph #1

That's what it looks like from here; and right now isn't that where the money is?

Sammy is second in points and sides is third . So what money do they forfeit if they have not signed ? Tow money . And do they get all of there point money ?.

No contract = no tow money, no pit passes, no point money. In fact, I don't know why they ever list anyone because in order to receive point money you must be a "Platinum Member" and participate in 100% of the races... So, why list anybody besides Platinum Members or announce them as point holders?

Of course, ANY of the rules are subject to outlaw interpretation (i.e. picking and choosing) or answering a call for example...

I think everyone is missing one important point. You can give your money to whomever you want if you earned it. I for one, did not give a donation. But, I would rather give it to him if I thought he deserved it than some of the people I see taking my tax dollars to get groceries, cigarettes and liquor!! I don't have a choice in that matter. Those who donated can do what they want. They earned it, and they can do with it as they please. If they feel Sides was shafted, then they can help him if they wish.

I could not agree with you more Egras. I would have sent him some money to help out if I had any to send. Fact of the matter is that he is by far one of the most underfunded outlaw teams running. That of course is not to say that he is poor, nor is it to say that he asked, begged, or even borrowed from anyone that I know of or know personally. I do not have a window into his program, now do I want one. But I know this, he is not running for Stewart or Kahne and he does not seem to be backed by millions of dollars, and he is trying to do something that allot of us can only wish that we could do and he is doing so on a fairly small budget. That is enough for me. I have been to races where he has pulled in and then had to try and drum up help in the area. I have been to shows where he was a one man band. I give him all of the credit in the world for trying. So ok, he gets a little help from his fans. And he is trying to run where he can actually make a little money on a good night. There are very few programs out there any longer that pay well enough that one can scratch out a living at it. These are very good reasons why contracts should not be limiting where a racer races provided the other show is not in conflict with one that the sanctioning body is promoting.

I plan to buy one of his shirts on the upcoming PA swing...that doesn't mean it will not be throw down across the bleachers if he drives our locals like Sammy did.

its always a good idea to have an extra shirt just in case the one you are wearing starts to soil itself throughout the evening...

The thing is, as long as the Outlaws drivers as a group continue to sign the exclusivity contract, WRG will continue to keep to tell them when to jump and how high to jump. That has always been my big objection with the teary eyed whining for why Sides signed the contract, breached it, then wants to complain that the Outlaws "screwed" him.

The exclusivity aspect of the Outlaws has been in place forever. No one forced any teams or drivers to sign the cotract. The whole signing the contract, breaching it, complaining, then going right back to such an "unfair" organization just seems completely phony and hypocritical.

Not commenting on the Jason Sides situation specifically.

Just a question for all those who would like to see the demise of the WoO organization and all the drivers run their own "true outlaw" schedules...

How many $10k to win races would be left for them to "make a living" on a "true outlaw" schedule if not for the WoOraces?

or rephrase the question - how many tracks could justify scheduling $10k to win races if there were racers available with no sanction fee attached?

Ok here goes, Those of you that want to sit behind your keyboards and give your opinions, and down a man that wants to make a living, grow some nads and post under your real name. I know for a fact that Jason Sides has NOT asked for anyone to make donations to him. This was brought on by, not one, but many many fans that wanted to support a person that they believed in and wanted to help out Sides and Sides Motorsports. If Im correct, the person that started the auctions and support site came from down under in Aussie land. For the person that says Sides don't need money to race that he has money. Let me enlighten you, Jason is a hard worker, he does more with less than any other team running and he does NOT have lots of money. Some ask why he went back to WOO/WRG. Well he DID NOT go back to them! He was approached with a 2012 contract and refused to sign it. He gets NO tow money, He gets NO pit passes. When he shows up at the track to race, he's not there for WOO, he's not there to help WOO with a car count, he's there to work, he's there to race, he's there for a pay check at the end of the night. Most of these tracks hire WOO/WRG to show up, these tracks pay a sanction fee and these tracks need paying fans to come and watch the races. Jason has many many fans across the country and I can gaurentee you some show up and pay thier way in to see Sides run. So I doubt that the tracks are upset that Jason and Sides Motorsports rig are sitting at the gates waiting to get in so he can race with some of the best. You ask why would he race with WOO after being screwed. This is a simple one to answer, you see it's not about racing a Woo event, it's about racing with Steve Kinser, Joey Saldana, Donny Schatz, Craig Dollansky, and others. Sides has run with this group for 8 years, every race. He knows he can run side by side, he knows this group of guys and how they run, he knows what moves they may make or not make, he knows the safety of thier equipment. He knows whos gonna do a slide job and whos gonna cut down, because he's run 100% of the races for eight solid years with them. Now before you start to get your panties in a wad or up your crack, Im not bashing any other series or drivers, just trying to explain a situation here. Jason has a family to support, a wife, a kid, a home mortgage, utilities, and food to put on the table. His job is racing. Some of us could only wish to do what we love for a paycheck. Without telling things that should wait for court, people don't know the whole story, Jason is doing what he feels is the right thing, rather Jason wins or looses, he stood up and did what he feels is right. I and many many others support him and will support him no matter which way the court rules. But before you judge the man that is making a living for his family, sit back wait, find out all the facts and truth before passing judgement. Oh, the weather in March in California is so much nicer than March weather in Pa. Let's think about this one too, $10,000 to win or $3500 to win! Just one more thing, my name is Pam,you can contact me @ [email protected], Thanks!

That was very well put Pam7s. You have pretty much nailed exactly what I was thinking, just with much more passion. Smile And to Singlefile. Actually, until you have tried to do what Jason does, or you are put in the same position, it is really hard to understand. Now I have not been in that position either, but I also will not disregard Jason's word over that of corporate America. What if he did make an effort to get the OK and he was ignored? Then what? It is ok for a corporation to pick and choose who gets favors and who doesn't? That is not a world that I would like to live in. Maybe before you start bashing someone all of us ought to wait and see what happens in court. And as far as running with WOO, unfortunately if you want to make the most money available for the job that you do they still hold all of the cards.

BRR

Definitely follow the logic...but wonder how it works without any guarantee all the product (i.e. star names) will be there.
