I wonder how much the wrg paid Sammy to run the whole season. They needed a big name to replace Meyers. Who better then Kinsers 80's rival. The woo had a great product when they first started. Just like every cartoon or good movie, there were heros and villins. The hero won most of the epesodes, but he villin would get the upperhand now and then. Sammy is a goodguy now, but back in the 80's and early 90's he was a badguy.

He'll run with them as long as he's lead the points, then its sayonara. Sure hopes Jason Meyers changes his mind, finds some great sponsorship and brings the kids and wifie along in a nice motorhome. But, nice to have Sides back.
Lawlessness + liberalism = HELL - NYC, Detroit, Chicago,

Luna's Ford engine style that won 2 WoO titles and 3
Kings Royals before a weight rule against the best EVER
in their prime and now DOMINATES super dirt late model
racing is no longer allowed/wanted in a WoO sprint
car.... Was Luna a miracle worker?

it would be great if he stayed.

Great for him Yes!! Not so great for everyone else trying to keep up with him. Love watching all the Young Bucks chase the old man around the track.

This thread is chocked full of entertainment... Well, Sammy stopped running for points back in the late 90's. Multiple WoO championships have not advanced anyone's racing career, as I recall.
For some strange reason and in spite of the fact that he has had basically the same start-of-the-season schedule going back to the Rolfe #10, the "Sammy Is Running Fulltime WoO" rumors begin swirling because of his superior performance and the failed logic that "he will continue to run fulltime if he is leading the WoO points".
The WoO needs Sammy more than he will ever need them. His "need" begins and ends with the superior WoO purse.
Go Sammy!
Your friend,
G.B.

My guess is if he is leading or still in the close hunt to claim the title they will keep on following the tour but if he decides to do something else that is totally up to him and his car owner, welcome to America.
|
but doesn't he have to make a decision to run the whole series or not?
he can't join and then say "to heck with it" that would be stupid.
how long can you run without joining and still be able to get championship points?
to indy and beyond!!

Good post Glad-Brad.
Sammy IS about the only true Outlaw still running his own schedule. Sammy is not afraid to race anywhere or afraid of anybody. He goes where the big money races are and he is always, always a threat to win. Doesn't matter if you love him or hate him, he is one of the few drivers that still "draw" us to the races. Better appreciate and enjoy Sammy now because he is on the back side of his career and will probably retire within the next 10 years or so.
