150 a night for race fuel is a lot. But what were you spending before? 100? If race fuel is 8.25 a gallon, what was it before? 5? 6? If so, that is at most a 3.25 dollar difference. 35 gallons a night? roughly an extra 115 bucks. That is high. But my point is it is ridiculous to say I am not going to race my 30,000 dollar investment more than three nights a month because the extra 115 bucks a night is kicking my ass.
I agree it would be great to have an extra 600 bucks a month but even before that it would be great to have an extra 30,000 for a complete race car and engine. If I ever get enough cash to go racing myself, I promise I won't be on here whining about the cost of fuel. That's all I am saying. Find something else to talk about like why cant the mods just be used to pack the track or why cant they bolt starters on a sprint car?
Lets not forget the three gallons of gas used each night to keep the generator going on the 40ft air conditioned enclosed trailer. Talk about getting carried away with over head.

Thats why we use a nice Dove Tail Car Hauler with a Box and Tire Rack on front, but yes we do have a Generator to run the Air Compresser and lights, would be nice to have a enclosed trailer so you can keep your car inside and also have a place to seek shelter from the weather, i have heard that Mark is trying to get some new tires for the big water truck and was gonna use it to pack the track, so we will see what happens there.

Is this because the car count sucks or because you can't stand sprint cars?
|
Both. I am not an every week brilladega attendee but the times i did attend like you mentioned car counts were terrible.
I will admit i am not a sprint fan i feel like out of the tracks i have seen them at in the oklahoma area the only place they put on a good show was at the fairgrounds. IMO sprint cars need flat tracks to make racing interesting. Again this is MY opinion i know we all feel different i am not knocking brill and will continue to support the track. My only hope is that he realizes that the races getting over at 1-2am is not acceptable and when you post a starting time adhere to it.

very well thought out and spoken opinion sir.
might I offer an invite to check out the ASCS shows at Creek County? - the two we had to end the season last year were outstanding.
We fixed the track back from the hatchet job the guy before had done to it......it's every bit as racy, if not even more, than it used to be.
And do remember a full ASCS Sooner Region slate and OCRS slate - as well as an extremely welcome Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour return to the Sooner State - some shows at Lawton and Salina. Can't wait for my first trip to Salina - and Lawton always has great ASCS shows........
and the burritos.......hhhhmmmm.......if you come bring some zantac lol. otherwise the ride home can be quite uncomfortable lol.
last thought - if you are in the area in a few weeks - the ASCS2 mini sprints make their only visit to I-44 Speedway in Oklahoma City this season for the Ryan Craighead Memorial. This has annually been a barnburner - one of the most overlooked shows in an area that has suffered through rough times as race fans. if we have weather like this - it should be a great weekend to be a race fan

I went to Creek last year for the all open wheel show ,sorry not impressed, the sprints could not run side by side in turn one and rarely saw them side by side in three.

I agree. Creek is just too small for winged sprint cars. I will go to the shows this year because it will be cool to see the National Tour guys there poppin wheel stands, but I will leave saying "man, it just wasn't as good as it coulda been on a bigger track." I am an advocate for the big half miles. Thats why I will be at Devil's Bowl both nights this week, spending my money in Mequite, not OKC. But thats a different topic....

So I guess by these standards - how is the Chili Bowl not too small for full size midgets.....
good sprint car racing is good sprint car racing. I wasn't aware that we were really in such a glorious position to be so picky. Of course I would take Knoxville over Creek County.....but we don't have knoxville and we never will. I care a hell of a lot more about it having more than one groove than I do about the size.
