Trey's name was "Ash tray" Trey Jorski. My uncle's name was "Jawa powered" Howard Butler. The on ice deal was pretty cool to a 10 year old.
Trey was/is one person that was fast in whatever he raced. It was incredible how fast he could adapt to any type of racing and almost be instantly be fast. Motocross, Speedway bikes, Road racing, etc...

MacArthur Park was my first racetrack. Like Stewart said, my dad, Carroll Wade and uncle Greg Wade raced there in the early 80's with the likes of Darryl Cleveland, Dean Franklin, Joe Spain, Pete Frazier, Ed Wilson and so on and so on. I great little racetrack (you can still see the outline of the track on Google Earth, in the southeast corner of the property with the go-cart track).
You can see a couple of pictures of it in the link. The pics posted under GradyWade are mine.

Faxon did open it's gates again there for a few years, and close them for good around 2004 i believe. I may be mistaken but I believe it was Jim Woods who promoted for the few years they opened it up after 1996. I had some good times at that place. I grew up being there on Friday night and Dutton's on Saturday nights. Once I began racing, I raced between Faxon and Dutton's on those nights also. Now both are closed, to bad they were great little tracks with some good people racing on them both.
On the gas and haulin a$$!!!

This looks like SFS when they had a Supercross there in the late '80's.

Wow that supercross pic is sweet I remember goin to watch that when I was younger , my dad owned Kawasaki superbikes at the time, he had the green factory riders picked up in a limo Jeff ward , Jeff metasavich , and I can't remember the other one . The speedway took over a major transformation when that deal came to town brought in big bucks too .

Yes Kris someone else did pick Faxon up and give it a run one more time... don't remember the name of the guy. I posted earlier and didn't see it but before Faxon Lupi ran the mini-sprints at Kephart's motocross track out by KSWO TV station on the east side of town.

Big Jay, I saw your first post - I wonder where it went?
I got a few videos from July 1995 from Faxon that I am trying to upload to YouTube, but my home internet connection is pretty flaky (wireless ISP Wichita Online). I'll post a link in this thread when I get them uploaded.
I think that is Larry Wilson in the 46 car winning in the video that Brian26 posted.

Umm well yeah...it was user error and instead of having it twice I deleted the first one after reposting this. Yes that is Larry Wilson, I was able to hear some sound. I think I have an old video or two of Matt Smith running at Faxon, I will have to find them.

Video from July 3rd, 1995 at Faxon Speedway. My brother Kevin Frost
starts on the pole (blue car #F3) and finishes second. This was the
Sportsman Turf Tire class. Kevin was running a Honda CBR 600 engine by
this time.

Video from July 3rd, 1995 at Faxon Speedway. I started way
back (while #F4) and finally finished fourth in this B feature (after lollygagging
around the back for a while) to qualify for the Main feature race. This
was the 750 Outlaw class. I was running a 1986/87 Suzuki GSXR 750
engine.
This is just like being there - sitting through yellow flags delays and such because I did not edit this video much.

Last video from July 3rd, 1995. This must have been a special event night for July 4th since more cars than normal are there for all classes.
Video of the 750 Sprint Turf Tire class at Faxon Speedway July 3rd, 1995. I am driving the white #F4. It's a different chassis than the outlaw car. I do ok in the heat race but not that
great in the feature race.

Last time I went out there, wanna say 4 or 5 years ago, I think it was Woods that was running it (dont hold me to that), but admission was only like 4 bucks and it just seemed like more of a family type a deal. Only a handfull of cars in each class, and I think me and my dad may have been the only folks in the stands that wasn't related to a driver. Definantly didn't have the feel of the old Faxon Speedway. Hated to see it go, had more good times there than I can remember and met a bunch of great people there. I remember watching the heats, then going up to the top of the hill and watching the drags until the features came out. Same goes for Dutton's Speedway (ft cobb) which retired from racing as of the end of last year. Guess times have changed around here....
Anyone remember the big show Faxon had way back when, if I remember right some guy from outta state came in and promoted it. You couldn't fit another car in the pits or another fan in the stands. A big lighting storm broke out around midnight, ended up finishing up around 3 or 4 am. Damn good racing though, some names I remember being there: Daryn Pittman, Leon Bacon (who I believe swept the weekend), Pete Frazier, and I think Darren Stewart.
