You know Latsh, I think you are right. In all the years of following this message board, I don't every remember a Central Pa fan( Posse to most of you folks) every saying one bad thing about the rest of the country's tracks or drivers. It's usually something negative about the Outlaws after a race at Williams Grove, or defending their home turf, with the rest of the country bashing the crap out of the Posse fans for having passion about their tracks and/or drivers( yes, I know some have been adopted, but the car owner is from Pa). In my opinion, after going to the Sprint Car races for over 30 years, most Posse fans are pretty decent and knowledgable people.

How quickly we forget when its convienent. Look no further than the multitudes of threads that sprung up when Tyler Walker announced he was going to be racing out in PA, there were MANY posts flaming the west coast racing scene. Everything from how he finally was going to racing against "real" competition to "he won't win shit out here in Posse country". Stereotypes don't spring up out of nowhere they form based on repeated acts. Another thing, to say that all over people cheer when the outlaws crash and throw beer cans at them as they sit in a wadded up race car is absolute bullshit! Throughout all my travels I have never witnessed that type of ignorant bullshit but it does and will continue to happen in Posse country. It sucks for the many quality fans there but again its their fans acting like jackasses so maybe if the good fans are so concerned by those antics they should start telling those losers to shut the hell up!
Cheers!

The majority of the people that were described as cheering for crashes, throwing cans, etc. come out only for the WoO shows. The atmosphere at a weekly show is completly different. There are bad fans everywhere, that's a fact. There's definitly more at the Posse-WoO shows which are the only shows a lot of people on a National level care about.

In regards to Walker, most of the Central PA fans were extremely pleased to have another great, exciting driver coming to town. In fact, there's a thread on the Grove message board right now to the likes of how much Walker meant to the Keen team.

Find me a comment where someone from PA said he would finally be racing against "real competition"? The website has a search function. I do remember Tyler saying he was excited for the opportunity to run against "more" and "better" competition in PA and their could have been smart ass responses to that, but those were his words, not the fans of PA. He's back in CA now, go bitch at him for it.

Ummm, I wasn't talking about JUST sprint car racing. Ya see, I'm one of those fools that has witnessed a lot more racing then just Sprint Car racing. Doesn't matter if it's ALMS, SCCA, NASCAR, GRAND-AM, INDYCAR, F1, CART, or any other sanction I've been lucky enough to see, nobody wants the favorite to win and they cheer when they don't have the opportunity too anymore. It's not anonymosity towards the drivers and if you think it's just towards the Outlaws you've obviously never witnessed a race at Lincoln when Rahmer has gone out.

There's also a thread on that board complimenting Kyle Larson as the next big thing, which he is certainly on his way to being. He's not from PA, just the fans that are complimenting him....

Not that I want to argue with you as I consider you one of the more credible members here but quickly I was able to find several posts bashing the California scene by a supposed posse fan: Tarah Way (spelling?) wrote in regards to Tyler racing in PA: " The level of competition is a measurably higher in Central Pennsylvania then "the land of fruits and nuts". Not bashing, just stating fact. There are between nine and twelve other former WoO winners racing at Williams Grove on any given night. A little tougher then just trying to outrun the Kaeding family." ------ if that's not bashing what is? ------------------
Cheers!

i agree...... we are all fans of sprint car racing and "our" driver favorites but the facts bear out that 95% of the time the outlaws have their way with the locals all over the country and canada except when they come to central pa they always face a challenge with teams / drivers that are essentially equal to the outlaws in driver talent and capable equipment....... i respect any driver that straps himself in one of these cars whether he wins or runs last..... they all deserve our respect

Several were raising the RF off the ground coming down the backstretch.

Ah, the memories... RF off the ground down the backstretch - under the bridge - that was my initiation to Sprint Cars on a sunny Spring day ...1983.....was there a bunch from 83-86 but then ...well, you know - 'life got in the way'...only been there a few times in 20+ years...sure miss the place....and I'm only 200 miles away

I've been to many tracks ....I'm sure Knoxville would be great.... but the Grove is the Grove...a great place...great atmosphere

Thanks for letting me reminisce!
