Darrah's a nice kid with talent, but that was no racing deal. Darrah flat out screwed up. You can brake to avoid a slide job. There is no braking or steering anyone can do at full speed at the end of a straightaway at Knoxville when you're all the way up against the wall and a car beneath you drives straight up the track into your line and puts their right rear into your front left.

Even Johnny Gibson announcing the race watching the replay called out Darrah for making an overly aggressive move.

I was about to write the same thing, Johnny even calling him out on it over the P.A.

I went to his pit after the wreck, and Josh and his crew were really ticked and they too were saying Cody was to blame. I asked Josh what happened and his tongue in cheek reply was "I guess I got in the way." Josh also went down to the scales after the race and made sure Cody knew what he thought. I know Cody couldn't care less that a local was yelling at him, but I'm glad Higday did that so Cody knew what he had done.

I'd like to think he has some brain to respect Knoxville regulars since the 360 engine he owns is from a local Knoxville boy and not a posse engine.

Didn't Cody get a quick time during a prelim night at a Nationals a couple of years ago? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe he was driving a red and black #88. Anyway, I think in his heat race he destroyed it and was done for the Nationals.

Cody had quick time two weeks in a row two years ago and was taken out by a local in the heat race for the nationals. I truly doubt he actually set out to make the man flip!

Everyone is so quick to judge anymore. I'm sure Cody wrecked Higday. Whether it was on purpose or not, nobody really knows but Cody. But this argument that he is a terrible driver and should be fired from this ride is ridiculous. Give the kid some time. He sat out all year last year because of a devastating injury and is seeing all of these tracks for the first time. He clearly doesn't have to prove anything to anyone on here. He's impressed Kasey/Willy enough for them to have faith in him and put him in their car. I mean it's only June and they've hardly had any racing in because of the rain. Everyone keep screaming and yelling but he'll get it going.

Don't know if anyone has every actually spoken to Cody, but he's a real nice kid. I talked to him for a little while after the National Open last year and he was more than willing to take pictures with a friend of mine and we talked for a while about his leg and the tough year he had. He definitely didn't have any kind of ego on him that night.

I agree, Cody is a nice kid, and should be allowed to show what he can do. I also don't believe for a minute he meant to wreck Higday.

Who built/owns the engine? When does Cody have time to even run a 360???

When he promotes Ollies Bargain Bin Outlet race at Williams Grove each year.

Every driver out there has made a boneheaded at least once in their career. I seriously doubt that he would take anyone out with consequences he could face himself by making contact at the speeds they run. Besides those who judge on her are the 1's that sit in the stands & arm chair race.

They don't even have a clue!!!

Looks to me like the track crew should of knocked a lil bit of the berm off at intermission.

Cars with a full fuel load at the begining of the feature are very vulnerable to tripping up on the right front as what all 5 cars that flipped did. Great to see a cushion at any racetrack now a days, but the consequences of running against it can be a nightmare!!!!

Better luck next time. Sammy sure didn't need it.

Cody runs the ollies race for the Kasey Foundation and I believe all the kkr teams run some 360 at the end of the year

I was suspect of him two years go when KKR got him. If I was him Next time I got a big check I'd pay Higday's owner what the cost was to fix what he caused, watch the video three or four times and you will agree.A nice kid from a real racing family, maybe Daddy should get # 89 out of that hauler and washed off just in case it might be needed sooner than later. KKR will have to order him a size or two larger helmet if he ever wins on the road, just remember he is very young and races with Americas best Veterans, still no excuse for this incident.

Oh, I won't give away the information of the two previous owners of it. Ask the team for that, I just delivered it when bought.

What did Brad Sweet do to be so deserving of the 49 ride? Might as well call them all out.

Probably by winning a number of USAC events for Kasey but more notably not tearing up a bunch of equipment like the guy he replaced did. Being a former winged racer helps too. Let's not forget that Brad won an Ohio Speedweek show and the STN's last year.

I walked turns 1 & 2 as I was leaving, and the ridge at edge of the cushion in turn 1 was pretty nasty! It was at least 6-8 inches tall in the worst spots. If your car was set up to be a little tight, and like you said, full fuel load - I can see where it wouldn't be difficult to trip over that and get into the fence.

In hindsight, they maybe should've taken the red Case pulling the rotating fingers tool (technical, I know!) to churn up the ridge and re-pack. The track was so soft with all the rain they got though, they maybe thought it would make it worse or just come back after a few laps were run.

He maybe be nice to talk to but sure didn't look too nice on the track on saturday!! Then again i remember his boss doing the very same thing to some poor local when he was in the midwest showing of his skills and money. Just maybe Darrah's on to the big time, either way everyone was all right luckily.

I just watched the video of the A-main on knoxvilleraceway.com and it was hard to see but did look like Darrah came right up into Higday. Scary scary flip!! Darrah just doesnt seem like ge drives smart. Always causing some sort of problem. I just fail to see what the big deal is about him other than he is pissing people off and tears up ALOT of equipment! Im telling you a lesser backed financial car owner wouldve "punted" Darrah out of the drivers seat a long time ago.

Im not saying Darrah is a bad kid...he's probably one of the nicest kids you could ever meet(never met him so I cant say) but if you cant drive and drive smart and not tear equipment up every night, you arent going to keep a job. The kid needs to learn to settle down. I just dont think he is ready for what it takes to be a World of Outlaw driver. I have been watching the WoO since the late 80's and one thing is for sure...even if you dont have the best car on a given night, you drive a smart race and stay out of trouble and dont drive over your head and be consistant, you can have a long career running with the best. I sure dont see that quite yet in Darrah. All Im saying is he needs some more season up in Pennsylvania before he gets a chance at the WoO.

Not sure what the deal is. Darrah was Posse, best in the world, running 8th in points with the Outlaws, but doesn't really care because he's Posse and doesn't really run hard until he's at the mecca (Grove not Knocksville). End of story.

Wow you didn't read well I said Wolfgang tore up a lot of stuff his first few years.

I don't know where he will end up and I did not say he would be a Wolfie I just said at a young age them both tore up a lot of stuff.

I did not defend the wreck with Josh that was all Cody

Slide jobs do not happen going down the front straight

What did that wreck have to do with a side job?

Was not a personal attack on you vanh, but Im just saying Darrah would be a nobody in normal equipment at this point. Wolfgang may of torn up alot of equipment early in his carreer but he turned out shortly after to become one of the baddest ass racers to ever drive a sprint car in this country He had skill and determination and worked his way up. He didnt start his carreer in a Weikert equipped ride. Darrah has a car that has the best of everything and in this instance although both where going forward he had to take a local out instead of racing them. And my point was about the slide job yeah theres a reason slide jobs dont happen on front stretches of badfast half miles they end up like it did for Higday hard into the fence and many end over ends. In case your wondering what im referring to in the stands the front stretch looks like a long straight line but on the track at speed if you notice out of 4 they aim at the flagstand and sweep into turn 1, Some night when your walking into the pits look at the racing groove down the front stretch. Many of my friends that race have mentioned at speed it being like a big circle. I have in fact experianced this in a tire test in two different 410s at speed and it does seem like your turning more than your going straight. Darrah was next to Higday tried stuffing him twice and finally got it done middle of the front stretch. From my vantage point and many others his right rear made contact with Higdays left front? Obviously he came up a bit short on the pass.
