So some of you guys are saying Daryn Pittman drives back to Owosso , OK every week to mow his yard and trim the bushes and sleep in his bed? He then drives back to PA every weekend just to race? This is why he is not posse? I don't even understand why you ppl argue about it cuz 75% of you make no sense. I don't care what his address is, he is posse. Has been for 2 years

I think DP was promised another checker flag when he wins his first handicapped Posse show wink

The victory was an outlaws first for Pittman car owner Michael Heffner. “I don’t give a darn if he’s (Pittman) from Mars, this win is for Pennsylvania and I’m proud of it,” Heffner said.

My thanks to your son for his service. For all the years I've endured this discussion, you just put a bow on it for me.

Anyone at the track know what happened to Esh? Did he actually hit the bridge?

Oklahoma.......Indiana......PA...... who really cares ......(all 3 states can claim him if they wish) just a genuine nice guy (like Dave Blaney) that won in a non big $$$ owned or sponsored car.

I know the driver is very deserving and probably the owner is too (don't know him at all .....but he can't be all bad fielding a sprint car for anyone to drive.)

Knoxville is done tonight ... hope the 2nd night gets in for the PA fans. I will checking from time to time on the 'net' to see what is happening at WG.

MOONER..appreciate your sons service to our country, but your statement isn't germane to this ongoing disagreement over something that to most people has a simple explanation.

It's not about what state or zip code you live in, but where you spend the majority of time racing. Following the location logic, half the drivers that race at Knoxville full time would not be considered Knoxville regulars and that's crazy. When Kevin Swindell announced that he was running at Knoxville full time is he not considered a regular because he lives in Tennessee??? Ridiculous argument.

Tim Shaffer is from Penna but is ALL STAR because that's the series he chooses to race with. Wouldn't be considered POSSE if he didn't run with the ALL STARS, most likely, because he would probably run primarily in western Pa at Lernerville and Mercer and in Ohio.

To be considered POSSE you have to race primarily in south central Pa..Williams Grove, Lincoln, Port Royal, and Selinsgrove. Lucas Wolfe and Cody Darrah are from Penna, but are not Posse because they are running full time with the WoO.

This argument will most likely continue on forever..I'm just glad and feel very fortunate that I get to see these guys (call them what you want) race every week for a $22 pit pass...and only a 5 minute drive from my house!!!!

it's so cute when a couple puppies decide they are gonna show their teeth over an argument clearly reserved for the true professionals of message board smack talking...keep up the good work Dirthawk...maybe next year you will make the JV debate team...

...congrats daryn PittmAn !!!...it doesn't get much bigger then winning an Outlaw race at the Grove...

A little birdie told me I have a spot locked on the Varsity team wink

Yeah, I'm argumentative but who isn't? I bring quotes from the drivers, teams, sanctioning bodies while other people bring opinions.

Hope the weather holds off for tonight, looking forward to seeing some racing.

That's it. Regardless of where the other drivers are from, the WoO markets itself and it's 12 or so traveling drivers as the best. If I were a racer/fan from OK, I'd be proud of what DP did last night. It wasn't even close at the end, he took the lead and the doubt away about a lap apart. I'm proud of the local team that gives him that opportunity and supports local racing every week here. The majority of the PA fans last night didn't do any chest pounding, it was very evident after the scales were cleared that this wasn't a "normal" Posse win strictly by the crowds subdued behavior. Certainly not a reaction like the one Hodnett got when he went from 9th to 1st in 10 laps (and was the highest running Posse car in the field in 9th place when the charge started) Nothing better than a Grove Outlaw show, besides Knoxville Nats I'm sure, you can bash the 5 or so people on here who are nuts about it, but don't knock the atmosphere or the fact that every heat race looks like the best A-Main some tracks ever get to see. I've said it before, I've yet to see someone come to PA, get on these boards, and report a bad experience.

Well said. The 6 Outlaw races at the Grove are my favorite races of the year outside of Knoxville for the atmosphere, tension and seeing the best of the best square off. As much as Cubes and his ilk give the Posse fans a bad name on the board, there wouldn't be an atmosphere like that without the Posse faithful. Nor would there be a guy from Oklahoma coming to PA to race weekly if there weren't great car owners from PA.

Agreed, I hope you weren't referring to me because I certaintly wasn't chest pounding. I'm simply trying to make a point that DP is a PA local. Everywhere you go, California, Ohio, Pennsylvania your going to find people who think their locals are the best in the world. With the recent 9 race winning streak over the actual best drivers in the world, there are more people like that in Posse country now. If any other local group did that, they would have fans on here and making ignorant comments. A couple people on message boards, including myself, don't make up the entire packed crowd that will watch a great race tonight.

Weather looks less threatening, hopefully a couple of All-Stars roll in with Mercer cancelling.

Curious as to how many feature wins those two have as members of the Posse. I already know how many they have as a WoO team. I'm still pulling for both of them to get their first and I'd love it to be tonight from the Grove!

I've been to Central PA to watch sprint car racing and agree it's an amazing place to live if you love 410 winged sprint cars (and I do), half mile tracks and racing on Sunday's too! Williams Grove is by far the most unique 1/2 mile track I've seen so far. Cubic aside, the local fans deserve to boast about the shellacking their teams consistently put on the top series at the Grove. It's one of the funnest places you'll ever watch the Outlaws take a beating at. Someday (when I've seen all the tracks on my list), I will return.

In my opinion the best sprint car drivers are from all over this country and yes some are even from PA. They can win races against the best winged and wingless and on all types of tracks. For my taste give me the constant excitement of a bullring like Tulare or Kokomo though, also give me a series that travels to these venues and challenges the local teams on their home turf. It doesn't get any better then that.

I can pull for any of your local teams including Tim Shaffer over any of the full time WoO teams .... nothing personal against those guys .... just it enhances sponsorship chances and local media coverage when a 'local' wins at any track against the WoO (doesn't happen many places other than PA I will give all you 'Posse' fans that one with no reservations.

In response to another thread going on here ... we aren't exactly short on Amish folks in east central and southern Iowa. Look at Johnson, Buchanan, Lucas, Davis and Iowa (yes there is a Iowa county in the state of Iowa) and probably 5 or 5 other counties in Iowa phone books and you'll find so many German (oops ..... phones ??? Amish??? I meant look a plat book...heh ....heh ...) surnames and HITCHING posts at local business for their 'horsepower.'

Nope, more people at the track. There are those occasional PA fans that bash on someone wearing a Schatz or Kinser shirt. That's not right. Daryn Pittman is a local in the same sense that Wolfe and Darrah are travelers. When Pittman wins, it's an argued PA victory. If either of those two won last night, it would have been an argued WoO victory. Until PA has a sanctioning body and they run a schedule (not saying that need that at all), the Posse is harder to define then the WoO.

Don't worry, I've made plenty of statements based on a mix of fact and emotion. Makes it fun, but the reason these weekends are so big is because the WoO brings some of the best into an already rich talent pool.

Boy I can relate to mixing facts and emotion .... I ragged on Ray Evernham late last winter and after I re-read what I wrote I went to Sacred Heart Church in Newton demanded the priest give me an exorcism.

If you see the woo on neutral turf u will appreciate them. Saw them vs the posse this spring in Florida and they handed the posse their ass for three straight days. That said... Fred probably would have won the last night if he could have caught a late caution. I am a life long posse fan and reside in pa but if u travel and watch them on neutral tuft u will have a new found respect for how good the outlaws really are. Just my two cents

did the WOO really grant Pittman permission to run here for 3 seasons without telling anyone in a press release?

You do realize that with the exception of Eldora, the outlaws havn't done much winning in the stronger parts of Ohio in a few years time, either. The reasons for Eldora are fairly obvious.

We got this guy that runs in a red #2 around here that had to sit out part of a season not long ago because he blew one motor. He's been able to defend a couple of our "bullrings" quite well over the last couple of years. You don't see any of us bragging or beating our chests.

We do have one allstar supporter that comes in here and makes an ass of himself but, I think it's fairly obvious that James is the kid on the short bus, wearing a crash helmet and slobbering on the window. He doesn't count.
