Right now I think it will come down to Kyle Larson,Cale Conley,Cody Darrah, Mark Dobmeir. They all are awsome drivers and can drive all different tracks and cars and are fast. It just going to come down to who gets the best team and cars, crew to work with. As far as Lucas he is a very good driver and just hasnt had the sponsors to field a top team all season long. hes fast at the begining of the year with new cars and fresh motors but as his cars get older and motors get tired he drops off. If Lucas Wolfe got another big sponsor I know he would be one of the next big driver. I glad the Ricks Auto Body and Auto Care Centers have backed the team but I think he needs more money so he can keep him self in good stuff the whole season and show how good he really is. Plus another driver to keep your eyes on and is going to be great is Aaron Ott just give him a few more years.

Thanks for reminding me of the ASCS guys!
Brady Bacon... I can't help but think he'll be a good one for years to come.
That California kid... Kyle Larson. Good call. Pretty stout for his age.

I'd like to see young Wolfgang on the tour someday/year. In the immediate future/next year maybe Lucas Wolfe? I'd also like to see Daron Clayton get a WoO ride.

If the WoO could woo the exciting talent of Gardner, Windom, Cooooons Jr, etc to the winged side of the sport it could only help the future of their series - IMHO.

Gravel stepped up his game big time this year. It's like he flipped a switch compared to last year and I'll be keeping an eye on him for the next few years. It was good seeing him run some ASCS races as well. Larson is a very good shoe as well. He's proven he can be competitive in almost anything; midgets, winged and wingless sprints as we he put a good run at Perris last weekend. I'm not totally sold on Darrah just yet. I'm anxious to see how he does on the bullrings compared to the big tracks that Pa. is known for.
As for Sweet, while he's trying to get something going down south I like seeing him run the schedule he does. To me he's got the coolest gig in open wheel dirt racing. He gets to race a top quality midget, winged and wingless sprinter almost any where he chooses. Well maybe he gets to choose haha.

Id say they all will do great in their settings, going out on the road at a young age takes time to address to the new surroundings, the new tracks etc. It will show what support each has as the year progresses in team and family! I doubt either will be thrown to the wolves if he doesn't do well the first year

Daron Clayton can definetly compete....He was Knoxville Nationals ROY and then couldn't come up with a ride for this year. He has tons of talent both with the wing and without. He is of the Hewitt/Hockett mold. He needs a good ride from a decent owner.

I "ideally" would love to see the second generation of the "BIG 3", with Robby Wolfgang, Kevin Swindell, and Kraig Kinser all battling for WoO championships for years to come. The reason I say this is when Steve and Sammy actually do retire there would still be a link to the past, that would carry on the same traditions that we all have come to expect, because no three drivers have EVER had the effect on the Outlaws or their fans the way "The Wolf", "The King", and "Sammy" have had. And as much as I like todays Outlaw drivers, I just haven't seen one so far who's capable of carrying the torch the way the "BIG 3" have since the late '70's.

Wolfe has been out there for awhile... and it isn't happening. Getting better, improving... but calling him the next big deal seems like a stretch.
Sweet is Nascar-bound. Yes, he's been good whatever he's put behind the wheel of but he has his sights elsewhere. The $$$ makes me say... I would, too.
I like Sam Hafertepe... don't know. They've been knocking on the door awhile. Was really glad to see they had Guy wrenching for awhile... hopefully he still is. Sam needs to drive and have a good wrench. They'd be alright.
Darrah is the most no-brainer of the group IMHO. Not sure about his success outside of Central PA so far.. but he appears quite legit. It will be nice to see him out on the road next year.
If he had a full-time WoO ride... it would be hard to deny Tim Kaeding. He takes the "win it or wear it" attitude a lot for a points racer... but if you're not running for points and owner is cool with it... it works. He's looking for a ride so you be the judge there. We sure see him in a lot of victory lanes... he would be awfully hard to pass over if your seat was vacant. To me he is the most "ready to be in the top 5 in pts" guy of the list so far. Not a new guy... but hardly a guy with 10 full years of WoO pts racing.
|
I have been watching Sam Hafertepe for quite a few years. When he went to run WoO I didn't think he would make it, but he has improved tremendously. I think he definetly has the potential to improve even more and could be a front runner.

Let me clarify something...Sweet has a TOP NOTCH ride with KKR...Im not saying he doesnt. Id just like to see him run FULL TIME with the Outlaws because I think he'd kick some ass!!
|
Out of the drivers listed, I'd say Brad Sweet is definitely the next biggesat star on the outlaws series if he runs with them full time. The kid has alot of talent and has won alot races! Plus hes got top notch equipment.

JMO ... Brad Sweet is already starting to run truck races. He is not going to stick around in a sprint car and be the next star if he car race in napcar! it is so hard to keep good young sprint car drivers in sprint cars these days they all want to go to napcar or indy! But best of LUCK TO BRAD SWEET IN TRUCKS!
