You say almost everyone in the IRA can't stand Winters? Probably cause he whoops their ass and takes their money alot of the times he pulls in to one of their events. And as far as the uttechs go.. well they dont go very fast thats for damn sure.

cws9 to bad drivers like Scott Winters are 10 times the driver Dover is.
|
Well Lasoski fan........I guess we will find out this weekend in Little Rock when they go head to head. Oh wait.....I see Winters isn't entered. Nevermind. I'm sure he is a good driver but this race is an example of what I was proposing. It would give BGTS some midwest exposure on a National stage and Sammy would have a teamate in the pits.

cws9 excellent points from a marketing plan yet to be developed, I would think that dover is better and more marketable than winters, I am just amazed the BGTS can spend as much money as they do, are there really that many rednecks that buy their stands instead of shooting out the window

Here's a different way to look at it. If BG is already sponsoring Dollansky who will travel the country with the WoO and Swindell who will travel and do the "hit and miss" type of schedule (including several stops at Knoxville for weekly action I assume) then I think BG needs to look outside the midwest. I think most everybody, or at least Big Game's target customer around the upper midwest already knows who Big Game is, what they are about and the dedication they have given to sprint car racing. Face it, they've done a good job of it over the past 6-8 years. From a business standpoint and trying to advertise more and breakout of the midwest, I think it would be a novel idea if they put their money behind a driver from out east in Pennsylvania. There is a lot of hunting out east and I'm sure Big Game would love to increase their market share out east. There are Cabela's and Bass Pro Shops out east that carry a large volume of Big Game products so sprint car fans who hunt have options to go purchase a Big Game treestand.
Maybe they want to stay local though which is fine. And my vote would be for Scott Winters as well. Butterfield and Windom are not far apart, Scott is a hell of a fast racer and he could certainly use some financial backing to increase his racing schedule and upgrade some equipment.
I do also wonder how long they can go on like this. I have no idea about thier financial situations, but supporting two full time teams and possibly a third is an undertaking. I hope it works out for them. I'd hate to see three years down the road from now and have NO Big Game cars racing because the dollar stream dried up.

How about Davey Heskin! He finished 10th at Deer Creek last year and 12th this year, 8th at the nationals. He is a serious contender wherever races. He's from MN and already runs a similar schedule to what they are planning.

It's pretty safe to say that Dover has a much bigger budget than Winters.
If $$ didn't play such a big role in sprint car racing you would obviously see Winters there along with more teams from all over the country. The_Lasoski_fan, along with myself, were basing the two drivers on there skill level and ability to drive a car.. not how much money their family puts into their cars and ability to travel.
The reasons for a 3rd BGTS team are far more than having a teammate for Sammy in the pits. You really think Sammy needs someone else to get info from? He has, and will continue, to do what he thinks and based on his career stats... I think his mindset has done pretty well for him over the years.

lake-carl, I resent your remark.
As a born, reared Arkie redneck I am proud that we can "shoot em" without any tree stand.
We just stick a Yankee out there and wait for them to attract the wild animals!

I just wish Big Game would buy Huset's before the Rubin's run it in the ground any more.

Nothing at all against the guys already mentioned, but having an opportunity to see Dusty run regularly at Knoxville, I could get on board with this.

I am with you all the way. Heskin is the epitome of small time racer getting big time results against big time competition! Although he is from St. Michael, Minnesota, I would be surprised if Big Game put him in the car, I'm afraid they will go with someone more established. (I hope I'm wrong though!) Tatnell, Winters, or Zomer would all be good for the team.
Just for arguments sake, what about Wayne Johnson? I think that would be pretty awesome too!!!
