Kudos to Sammy! He was the story of the week and drove the nuts off that car. Good show Sam, you gave us our moneys worth. Much respect.

The tires are not to blame, they were the same tire everyone else had to run. Everyone knows I am a big Sammy fan, but lets face it Sam either cut the tire, used it up sliding Schatz back and forth or missed the set up/tire choice. Shit happens folks and thats racing. Sammy luck has been pretty bad throughout the years at Knoxville and I'm sure this will top it as nobody could have caught him before the 6 to go caution came out for the only other tire issue of Brian Brown. Iam glad someone "new" won the Nationals, and real happy for Tim, even if I wished Sammy would of won. There were a couple of great runs, Shane was 3rd, Dollansky 4th and Paulie and Stevie all had great runs and how about Heskin, wow, wished I could have been there, damn....Get'em next year Sam!

This would be applicable if the Goodyear's have shown they could be without failures.
We've seen it all year, we've seen it this week -- the tires are junk. McMahon blew one three laps into his heat race. It's not guys skimping on compounds. It's tires just flat-out failing.
I'm not a Sammy fan, but I feel for him. Sammy didn't use that tire up any more than those who were running with him. He just didn't have Lady Luck on his side.

Cubicdollar has it right. This is an "Andretti Curse" deal. Sammy is one of the greatest, but he probably has all of the Knoxville Nationals victories he will have. At least he has one.

Loved that post! After reading the board, someone new to the sport woud actually believe blown rear tire(s) is a new issue in sprint car racing.
