So he didn't go to the Nationals lots of excellent racers pass on Knoxville for their own reasons. As far as I am concerned he is "Super Billy". Wishing Phillip Mock a successful Osky and Knoxville.

I am as always, like Dad

Billy Balog wins his third IRA win of the year. Starting eighth Balog methodically worked his 17B to the front. Following a lap 19 spin involving the 3 car and front running Scott Biertzer, Balog was on cruise control and went on to win. Scotty Neitzel was second in the Rick Lemanski prepared 2W. Tommy Sexton Jr. was third in the Fore-Play Racing 83D. Fourth was the 11 of early race leader Donny Goeden rounding out the top five was Mike Reinke in the 02.

Biertzer worked all night for an excellent run in the A-main. Biertzer made life saving moves after suffering a stuck throttle in hot laps. One can only wonder how the would have played out if Biertzer and Scott Young had not gotten together.

Super Billy might be a stretch. But the kid does a good job. I think it would of played out better in traffic. Hopefully it becomes a race to the finish. Best race of the night the 2W and 80K in the heat race!!!

Heck Scotty ran great won his heat and second in the main. It's not a win but he did pick up one point on Balog and who knows what that will mean at seasons end. Passing points and the heat win did that for Neitzel. Billy is 66 points ahead of Scotty thats not a ton. Remember years ago Frankie Kerr and Kevin Huntley tied for the Bert Emick led All Stars. I don't think Super Billy is a stretch, mild mannered, like Clark Kent strap him in the 17B and he turns into Super Billy. The area needs some jazzin' up and I pick Mr. Balog for those reasons. Think of some of the characters that ran the IRA and how an announcer, Jack Biddison or Mike Babicz, or a media guy, can turn a regular guy into a hero, Johnny Reimer, the Caledonia Clipper, Whitey Harris, the Purse Snatcher, Gentleman Dick Colburn, Jim King of the Cushion Moulis, Al Ride the Rail Winker, we had the ultimate Bad Guy Carmen Manzardo now BK Brian Kristan. We lost Joe Roe, Kim Mock and Donny Goeden,on a full time basis. oops forgot Gib the School Teacher Wiser and Rick Sleepy Lemanski. A nick name or a title is something that has worked in creating rivalries and pretty much gets the crowd, hopefully, into the show a little more. I'm using Super Billy because it fits and it was an easy one to give him. If anyone has a nick name for their favourite let me know, as long as it's rated G, I'll start to use it first it must pass the High Groove test. E-mail me and lets see what comes up if you want to keep it between us until we talk about, I welcome the input.

I remain as always and still

I would think a driver with the 'SUPER" attached to his name would leave "the porch" to see just how super he is.

The drivers don't come up with these names. Announcers and media people make that stuff up to get the fans worked up. Obviously judging by your post they have accomplished their goal. Smile

Ofcourse!

Every track has their "super" something. Stormin' Norman. Clutz Putz, etc..

Most of the time they have a hard time living up to their "name" and especially when it follows them to another track.

Billy goes pretty darn good where ever he goes. This is not a track name. Mr. Balog travels and is successful at it. Top three with the All Stars at Belleville, this year three wins at three different tracks. My point being at this point Balog is the best the area has right now. I want people to know just how good this young man is. We have plenty of other talent it was this name came up and I think it fits. How about Dynamite Donny Goeden or Magical Mike Reinke it's called entertainment. I remember a nick name Rick called Scotty at the old, duck your head, shop. I'll keep it to myself until I see him.

As always I remain

That's one of the reasons I'm glad that I'm down in the infield taking photos and wearing ear plugs. If 24 Sprints coming down for the green flag don't get the fans pumped up nothing will. wink
