AAAAHHHH, You guys know Tony Stewart don't like it fast !!! He loves to complain about things being to fast, shoot he's a bottom feeder himself. So why would he want a fast Dirt Track ?????? Who cares what the place looks like if the racing is boring. Bring the RACING back to the            BIG E !!!!!

Very sad evening at the big E. The decision to reconfigure the banking has really stolen the tracks unique personality. I really hope that I am proven wrong, but as of tonight, I think the days of " on the wall" racing at Eldora are over. Speed is not the issue, as proven in qualifying, the issue is that by removing the "cup" from the upper banking the racing lines are changed. In the past, occasionally on a very dry slick night with no cushion, you would have this same type of racing lines. With the new banking configuration, cushion or not, it will be very difficult to carry a lot of momentum around the top like we are so used to seeing. Although Eldora is my home track, I have traveled alot and watched alot of sprint car racing. I can honestly say that when you get Haud, Steve, Sammy, Joey or any others, running nose to tail while inches off the wall at crazy speeds-- there is no more exciting, edge of your seat racing on the planet.I am praying we have not seen the last of it. We may now have just another 1/2 mile track. If it stays like it is now, I hope Tony changes the name of the track. It's not Eldora anymore.

I agree cutting the banking is about the dumbest idea they could have ever done. Hey Stewart at least your consistent first your cars on the WoO tour suck and now your track sucks, I hope Earl takes you in a back alley and whips the crap out of you!! All Eldora is now is just a faster Fremont and trust me that's not a compliment for the "track that action forgot" is a slow follow the leader on the bottom with little banking and now Eldora is just a faster follow the leader on the bottom with little banking.

So why is it that after 50+ years, Tony Stewart has decided to strip Eldora Speedway of its identity. These are truely sad times for long time and new fans of Eldora.

Well the opinions are out and it appears that the first night at Eldora this year was not a success. But let's do like Duane said and give them some time. If Tony really cares about the fans he'll get it figured out.

NOW if you want to see some great racing at a recently reconfigured track, head over to Haubstadt next Sat. I even had my doubts when I first heard of them replacing the dirt and taking some of the banking out but they did it right and it made the racing there even better. Hopefully it can top Paducah and Bull's Gap.

Did any of the people on here doing all the bitching understand the fact that the Eldora crew barely had ANY time to work the track? It has been freezing, raining, and snowing non-stop here in Ohio. We had a few good days about 3 weeks ago. As I type this I have 1" of snow on my front lawn on April freakin' 14th. I know the good folks who run Eldora Speedway - and I am quite confident that they have already addressed this problem behind closed doors and they will take action to correct it. The two Larry's are very passionate about racing and about the reputation of the Big E...as is Tony. Write this one off and give them some time to get it worked out. As of right now the weather is still a big factor in the track prep department. I'm as sorry as anyone that the heats, c, b, & dash weren't better, but the A-main was pretty exciting the last 10 laps or so - and there was people passing...for the win no less. How often do you usually see that? So stop whining and trust the fact that these guys know what they are doing and I'm sure we can expect an improvement down the road. They are committed to what they do. Not to worry.

We all understand! Just wanting that Tony understands that racing at Eldora will never be the same without the top, middle or bottom!!!!

Attention Swamp! We are not bitching just the facts as they occurred this weekend! They packed the crap out of it with the sheeps foot , but it would not have changed the banking they took out of it! In fact I had a fan that said if it it stayed the same he would never come back

Yes it made for safe racing, but Eldora it's always been depending on the weather and this weather should have been a little bit rougher and I am glad Tony did what he did to make it safer, but the bottom line is that he took out of the high bank!!I!!!! (It is always been known for) and unless he changes it it will never be the same to drivers or fans. When there is dust in hot laps well what can I say to the new surface ( not much)!

Well the best thing I can say whoever starts out front at Eldora will be the winner like most tracks that have no banks and that's when you will see who starts first will win ( that's what makes small or large tracks with banks different then others). At least Jac had a bonsai move from the 2nd row to make it exciting until his tire sealed over.

Let's hope Tony is as good as Earl and was as concerned as Earl was! I did not hear the grader on the track last night right after the races as I have in the past with Earl, but I will have to say the weather might have had a big reason.

Just wanting to state that (Eldora) the way it is now takes the driver out of it!!!!!!! And is opposite of what the rules that are being inforced with the WoO trying to bring the drivers more into it by changing the harder sidewalls! I AM CONFUSED THIS IS ALL STUPID! Just cange the Top wing 4x4 and ge will see who the real drivers are no matter how much bank you give us!

but the A-main was pretty exciting the last 10 laps or so

So the fans should be happy that there were 10 good laps out say around 90??? I had enough last year of watching the grader on the track at midnight, how many chances do they need?? If I remember correctly the people complaining are the people who are paying hard earned money to get in and spending hard earned money on gas to get there. I haven't seen a post yet by someone that complained and got in free. I am glad I wasn't able to make it, if it was as bad as TommyBahama said it was and I do respect his view, I probably wouldn't have went back this year either.

And Cwoo35, Fremont is dry and slick, but I can't remember a race in the last few years that was huggy pole, almost always people passing on top.

HEY JC! Get a glue! We want the the fans to see more then 10 laps as you posted and I am sure they saw the whole night as a great race if they have never been to one at Eldora its the best just not the best as the past! It's just a change of hands and I am sure everything will workout and if they come back it will even be better as Eldora is improving throughout the year and years to come with the best ever driver in the Nextel Series Cup (TONY STEWART) !

I have never been to Eldora yet and I am sorry to hear they have changed the track for the worse. I know we have some tracks here that have been changed and some people aren't happy about it either. On the other hand one of the best tracks in California is the Tulare Thunderbowl. It is a great track with 3 grooves, lots of passing, and the drivers can run all the way to the top. The Outlaws were here in Februrary and it was great racing and I know that the racers love racing here. I think Tulare along with Paducah and Bulls Gap have had the best racing soo far and I am really looking forward to seeing the Outlaws again on October 13th. I hope the racing at Eldora improves along with the weather because the GSC also had a rainout here at Watsonville tonight.

Looking forward to the new Golden State King of the
West series schedule!

...is anyone else impressed with the number of keyboard jockeys (some that were NOT even at the race) that own dirt tracks and are "experts" on what to do with three feet of new dirt/clay on a windy, 40 degree night???...awesome !...I thought only guys like Tony Stewart owned racetracks...I'll be damn, everybody has one !...

...maybe Tony and the two Larrys should visit YOUR track and see how the EXPERTS do it !...

Maxi, I got some GLUE around here somewhere. And since I wasn't there and don't own my own track I guess I can't say anything. But that is fine, when my $30 goes elsewhere and when 10 others ask if they should go, it starts to add up. And if you think people enjoy seeing guys huggy pole at Eldora you better get a CLUE. Just remember, not every fan is a "real" or die hard race fan as a few of you. People only will put up with so much. So call me a keyboard jockey or whatever you want, but when my money and other people's money starts going to the movie theater, the baseball games and the concerts instead of the Big E, there is only one place to look.

So they ran the bottom. I thought Lasoski was running every car out there. How often did the heats snooker some of the big names in the past. Heats are still the same for the most part & will be weather they run the bottom, middle or top. with some exceptions like Saldana, Haud & some others I've seen get some breaks & pass 2 rows from the flagstand to turn 2. I know I'd rather have 3 or 4 cars racing around each other NOT KNOWING who is going to take the checkered flag until it was over. Better than someone running away with it & lapping up to 4th or 5th any day in my book.

Thank God for Haud,

I think he passed the most cars on the night (around 7) not including the "new Eldora clinic" he did in lap traffic. Rumor has it they have already talked about this happening and one option is they can re-align the laser to cut the bottom out and push the dirt up the hill. Also heard they still have dirt to put on.(please put it all on the top!) It was a highly boring night. I'll be back for the next WoO show and really really hope it's fixed. If it isn't. I'll be at the Royal for party only. Don't think I'll go in, just listen from outside.

...like I said it was not ideal conditions...hard to say what the track will be like when it has been given proper care and had a few races run on it...

...I do know that more then one driver said that it is very hard to enter the corner on the top now due to the configuration...One driver said that he thought it was just a matter of current setups needing to be adjusted to the new track...by the end of the night the usual suspects were finding their way to the top (Haud, Saldana, Dollansky, Chaney)...

...when they come back in June, that will give a better idea of what the Royal will be like...I just think it's a joke to crucify Eldora and its staff based on the ONE and ONLY night of racing they've had on a new surface...stay tuned...

...BRR...like the guy/gal said, you can always sell your tickets and go to a movie or baseball game instead of the Kings Royal...whatever !...
