my and my fathers vote. (again - if we had one)
This is prob one of the worst losses this sport has seen in a long, long time. He had so many years left of thrilling race fans with his daring moves - and most could agree several various championships as well.
very very sad.
How much would could a wouldchuck chuck if a
wouldchuck could chuck would

newsflash - I MADE A MISTAKE!! In my earlier post, I said being 50 o over for induction is a requirement. Well, that's not exactly true. The mention of item IIIc in the rules is appreciated. Although, the list of current inductees is composed of folks over 50 yrs old and item IIIb addresses the age issue, i am going to include item c verbatum. From the way I read it, Jesse would not be eligible for the class of 2011 because his passing was less than 6 mos before the submission of recommendations to the hall by the September 1st deadline.
Here goes: IIIc - In case of the death of an active individual under age 50, or an individual who has been retired for less than five (5) full years, a candidate who is oherwise ineligible shall be eligible in the next regular election held at least six (6) months after the date of death or after the end of the five (5) year period, whichever occurs first.
I copied this off the www.sprintcarhof.com website.
The recommendations recieved before the cutoff are mailed to the 72 member Induction Committee for their consideration and they ar the only ones eligible to vote. I hope this helps.

Perhaps a bit of clarification of the rules is in order by the executive director and/or comittee? The final ballots are to be mailed no later than the last day of November and returned within 15 days - both of which would be slightly more than 6 months from now. The rules say "the next regular election held at least 6 months after the date of death" .... the actual vote/election is 6 months later but the nomination cutoff is not. So which is the deciding factor - nomination date or vote date? The way the rules read verbatim, the actual election would happen outside the 6 month period.

According to the nomination procedure (in a nutshell), for consideration in the next ballot a one page only nomination biography - along with a cover memo denoting the submitter's relationship to Jesse and the date of submission needs to be sent to Tom Schmeh by September 1st. I'm not familiar with Jesse's complete list of accomplishments ... but anyone who is can submit a nomination. Schmeh will then distribute the most thorough biography to the Induction Committee.
The full procedure is available through the link provided above in the post by pic1940.

In my opinion Jesse should be inducted to help heal the loss by his wife and family and the racing community. An exception sould be made at this time , by the comittee. Jesse truly deserves this recognition, Jesse raced for the love of the sport and not for the money. He proved that by racing in his home state as much as possible. I am also from Mo.

There is no doubt that he should get in at some point. There are a lot of deserving candidates, and he is certainly one of them.

I hope like hell this gets done....hopefully on the next ballot but if a technicality stops it this time then for sure the next year.
I will make the 7 hour drive with no hesitation to go scream and holler at the induction ceremony.
Sprint Bandit point leader and second in ASCS national by only 3 points from a guy who typically starts off slow in the points...
Oval nationals, Ultimate Challenge, Ron Shuman Classic X2, Twin features in PA, last race at Manzy...etc etc etc.Wins on both coasts and north and south. Wins in winged 410's, winged 360's, non wing 410's and non wing 360's in 2009 alone. Over 130 career wins by age 26, show maker at the Knoxville nats and the chili bowl. I think Dean Mills said "If winning all the non wing crown jewels don't get you in I don't know what does."
About a year ago Flatout Magazine had to refuse to run Hockett photos for a month because they got so damn many great ones they felt like they were over-saturating.
The dude wanted nothing more than to win non wing at knoxville...unfortunately Mother Nature threw a wrench in that plan twice. I would imagine a non wing pic and plaque in the HOF would make up for him not gettin to back one in on the track next door.
Damn right TBird....Any Car, Any Track, Any Night!!!!!! (And more than likely gonna park in victory lane)
Like one of my buddies said the night Jesse passed on... "He may not have been the greatest I ever saw, but he was damn sure gonna be!"
The Rocket in the HOF should be an absolute gimmee!!!!
RIP Jesse. Wish I knew how many races you and Daniel have won in the last 2 weeks!
Loose is when you hit the wall with the rear of the
car, tight is when you hit the wall with the front of
the car. Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall and
torque is how far you move the wall.

very nicely put Darnall....don't forget the Austrailian victories, King of the 360's....there's only 2 tracks Jesse didn't win at, that we all know he wanted to more than anything....Eldora and Knoxville. Eldora, he came pretty damn close a few times and without winning was still the one EVERYONE was watching. Knoxville (winged), well never had much luck other than that 1 year (2004 I believe?) when he made the Saturday night A-main. And as far as wingless at Knoxville....i think the majority of people would put their bottom dollar on Hockett to take the checkers.
