I would love to see someone seriously tech also.I dont know what Mid America does to tech engines but that will kill the whole deal if you dont tech us.We went out of our way this season to make our engine and car legal and I am tired people accusing us of cheating.BRING ON THE TECH at Lee County!!PLEASE!!!!!!!!!

Donnie Steward #16Hd

Alright! I'm all for that. I would even pay a small entry fee to help establish a head and intake gasket fund!! lol

For $1500 to win they should pull the top 3 heads and injection, and even use that little inspection hole that is supose to be on the pan.

Any series that doesn't follow their own written rules won't be around long. People figure out that they can get away with things that they shouldn't and the class will suffer until all the guys that are legal quit. Proper tech is the only way to ensure your class will continue. I refuse to crew any car that I know is illegal. My reputation is more important to me than any driver getting another win.

I never thought Donnie was cheating he just don't seem to be that way. Is there anyone cheating at 34? I don't think so, I just think some people have put WAY to much money into a class that is not meant to be this way. If you wanna run a 305 on a 360 wallet why not build a 360? Rules are out there for a reason. Things need to be checked. I see this class getting way out of hand if something is not done about it soon. Whatever happend to checking the driveline, and numrous other things we were told were gonna be checked at a meeting way back last Nov.? Just my 2 pennies! I'll step off the soap box now and save it for the Nov. meeting this year.

Hope to see alot of 305's at Lee County!

I'm curious at to what your rules are for the track?

I own a 305 Sprint car in Ohio, and we are allowed to run Iron or Aluminum heads. We just have to have an 11:1 compression ratio. No titanium in engine on the car. Largest injection allowed is 2 3/16". Only steel wheels are allowed also. No wing sliders in cockpit.

Jesse,

It dont matter what class you have there is ALWAYS going to be someone spending alot of money. The current rules package also promotes spending alot of money. If you remember at the meeting last year I was one of the big supporters of a spec tire rule but most shot it down. That resulted in people (including us)bolting on super soft tires quite often and probably loosing out on some bonus point money at the end of the season. All of the 305 organizations and tracks need to get together and have the same rules.I also think they need a sprint car tech person that knows what they are looking for and enforcing the rules.

By the way the reason we didnt build a 360 is because my car owner and I liked the idea of racing 2 miles from our houses every Sat night and then going home to be with our families. We are most likely doing something different this coming season.

Donnie

This is a great little class of racing. And I would love to see it grow. I think it could be a great feeder class for the 360 class some day. Some will want to move up and some will be perfectly happy staying with the 305's. And that's fine. I am a supporter of sprint car racing in almost any form. Lets face it if you don't get some sprint car experience at a great facility like 34, Lee county, or Bloomfield in a 305 and just try to jump straight in to the Sprint Invaders, WOW, or Knoxville it could be months before you get to race in your first feature. Laps and confidence in yourself, your car and your team are hard to come by when you are racing as a beginner in a well established field of cars. But I would agree that no matter how well intentioned the 305 rules have been enforced at alot of these events. That some work needs to be done to level out the competition and the funds that have been spent. I have personally considered building a 305 car for 34 with no certain driver in mind to compete on the Saturdays that I'm not busy with the GRIT motorsports #3. But at this point I could build a middle of the road 360 for the same money. Just my 2 cents. Either way I will see you at the races!

ROLLER CAMS:

I didn't realize that this was going to be such a huge issue over 7-12 HP.  Can't believe that the fact of weather you can run a roller cam or not gets more attention than the fact that the show pay $1,500 TO WIN and pretty darn good the rest of the way back!  This sport, and those involved, never cease to amaze me.

Roller Cams will NOT be allowed at the September 20th Show in Donnellson.

Hope to see you all there.

That's too bad, you racers just ran off some cars that would help boost car count.  I understand the big picture that rules are rules but like Terry mentioned from another thread that I posted, your only talking 10 horsepower guys!!!!  Are we that afraid of competition??  It seems that the weight break was more than fair enough for a flat tappett vs. roller.

From talking to a few people around that area it seems that most people doing the bitching only race once or twice a year.  Is it true that these Burlington cars don't leave the porch to race?  Why all the bitching from a particular group of racers that don't even race?  Help me out here, I like to hear both sides of the story.

Wesmar,

How does the weight rule even affect anything??I have a 2007 rolling chassis bought from Terry Mccarl that we took all ti off of it and a new non ti rearend. So the car has kevlar light weight lines etc on it and it rolls across the scales on a Sat night always above 1600lbs.Tell me how you can get a steel headed 305 car down to 1475 with driver??

And no we arent afraid of competition!!It just needs to be an equal playing field. We race every Saturday night.Granted it usually is at 34 Raceway but its 2 miles from alot of our houses.Come on over to 34 some time we'd love to race against ya.We welcome all new competition.

If you are going to Knoxville come on over and introduce yourself because we'll be there too.We will have a Mid America legal car there so we might not have the most Hp but we'll be there.

See Ya,

Donnie (16Hd)

IT will be a great show. I doubt anyone in the crowd would know the difference. There are internet hero's and then there are RACERS. LCS $1500.00 to win show this Sat, has to be one of the highest paying shows in this area for 305's, yet everyone seems to want to sit at home and complain about rules. I agree it should be a equal playing field, but if you dont wanna race, then start typing away, it pays less, but you might feel better.

true $1500 to win is good money.... and the pay back is good... the whole thing started with not standing your ground on a rule.... the 305 deal is in a hard spot and if nobody gets control there just wont be any 305 around....because when the cost of the cars go up then as drivers we want more money... and in the end its the fans who pay for it in the end... no body wants to spend good money to wach a bad show.....

Several local guys posting on this race. You all have legitimate points and a right to your opinion. I don't have a car or an opinion on this debate, just a question. Can any of you give us your guess on the car count for the Lee County race? 20,30, 40? Hope you have a great turnout and a safe race.
