Wow, during my "lurking years" on here, I saw several posts by you dogging other members for complaining about the poor service of Dirtvision. Telling them to stop bitching about the service when it was free.

lol looks like we get what we paid for huh?lol

Internet broadcasting is still years away from being to the point that it is dependable.

I am sure it will get to that point someday, but it is not here today.

I doubt I said much about the poor service as that has been the normal.

The old days when the mike was simply shut off between races was frustrating, but free.

Progress is being made. but dependable? not quiet yet.

I would be real curious as to what the reason behind having a password such as this vZk5G>4./B8)q5

be required to simply listen to a program.

Live internet streaming of audio and video is VERY dependable when you put the proper infrastructure in place within the organization. The term "you get what you pay for" is a two way street, you can't expect a company that is $70,000,000 in debt with only $200,000 in their bank account to be able to deliver a broadcast that is any better than two Dixie Cups with a string...

There was NO problem with the DV broadcast. It was crystal clear and no buffering problems here. They must have a soundproof booth at Huset's because it was so quiet you couldn't hear the cars when they weren't talking. Duane's problem was with the Log In. I agree that their "need" for an 8 character password is ludicrous and I told them so in an email when they came out with that. However, once I got in with their random generated PW, I changed it to my own, albeit an 8 character one. I have had no problem logging in lately.

i'm thankful we don't have to wait a hour or more after a race for results to be posted somewhere. yes it is annoying when dirtvision goes silent on the last 3 laps but atleast we get to listen to some of it and it doesn't do it all the time.

No problems here!  Been working good all year with a 9 year old computer.  I thought I heard Johnny say Schatz and Meyers bang wheels at the flagstand going into turn 1 on the last lap then they made contact in turn 3/4.

Hi Duane!

I understand your frustration with having to log in with a username to access the streaming broadcast online. There are a couple of things that could be causing your problem, the first that comes to mind is you may need to clear out your browser cache and cookies as some of the data there may be old or corrupted due to a number of reasons, this applies to any browser on any computer.

The reason why web sites need you to log in with a username and password is so that only valid, ie... real live people, NOT kids, adults or hackers with malicious programs or intents, are utilizing/interfering with the data stream. Without a login, certain people would find/write programs that would and could continuously, hundreds of times a second, attempt to access that streaming broadcast and keep valid race fans from accessing or getting any of streaming program. It is called a Denial of Service attack, some people think it is funny to do those types of attacks on web sites, chats and streaming broadcasts for whatever nefarious reasons. Given the past history of online antics amongst the racing community, the behavior of a few dictates inconvenience for the rest of us, and is in no way limited to the racing community.

I hope this helps you understand one reason why they need to have a login/password protocol for accessing the DirtVision broadcasts. This is standard operating procedure just about everywhere online now days due to what has happened in the past. If somebody abuses a right or privilege, all the rest of us have to pay for it one way or another.

I can understand this, I have registered for Dirtvission so many times it is pathetic.

IF someone wants to hurt or hack, I suppose a public access computer is always an option for them however.

I receive MANY emails from DIRT each week, all duplicates of each other, and spread out over several hours per mailing.

I know and like all of the DIRT people that I have met, but I have yet to meet that little nerd that designs their web based stream.

I have NO problems anymore listening to the Katich program, only ones where registration is required.

I am a dealer for Budget trucks also, on one day a couple weeks ago, I was forced to put in user name and 8 digit upper/lowercase/plus number and charater password, 21 times in less than an hour.

I guess maybe I am a grumpy old man now, but damn, I don't want to spend half of my remaining years putting in passwords lol lol lol

Dirtvision used to be very Mac unfriendly but over the last 18 months I don't think Ive lost a connection. No complaints here.

Haven't had any problems on DIRTVision using audio. The video stuff used to be difficult with the buffering and all. Sound is clear and good all night. Had both the All Stars and WoO shows on last evening and no problems.

Donny and Jason are creating an interesting little rivalry, don't you think?

Congrats to Craig. He only knows one way to get things done and I, for one, appreciate his style.

The WoO races have been outstanding the last couple of weeks, haven't they?
