1) Best advice is to get a reserved seat in the grandstand unless you want to complain on here after the race like others do about eating the dust in the corners. You can probably get acouple of seats upon arriving early on Friday. They are sold just inside the front gate at the back side of the press box.
2) Second prepare for hot weather. If you sit down lower in the grandstand its a bit cooler than up top under the roof. Make sure you have plenty of cold beverages. They do not let you bring beer in anymore and they look at most every cooler. If you have a cooler tall enough you can usuually get a bottom row in. Have some comfortable walking shoes if you are going to the infield pits. Its a bit of a hike around to the back stretch tunel.
3) Get a pit pass at least one of the days. There is a seperate gate up off of the fourth turn where you can get a pit pass at. Even if you have alredy purchased a general admisions ticket you can upgrade and pay the difference at that gate. Easy access to the infield by tunnel under the backstretch. I suggest watching hot laps along the fence in the infield to get a feel for the speed and watch qualifying from atop the infield concession stand or the front stretch wall to listen to the crowd when someone rips off a good one. I usually vacate the infield after qualifying to get top my seats in the grandstand for the heats.
4) I usually play golf on Saturday, but it sounds like a great time can be had in the field accross from the track by finding the Dingus bus, participating in Coach Bob's annual bean bag tourny and meeting the other Hoseheads from on this board.
This will be my 25th Kings Royal in a row. I can't wait!!
later,
