switching crew chief works in nascar sometimes. I don`t know if that would work here. But tony may need to do something pdq to keep sponsors happy!

crew chiefs dont drive cars nor do they crash cars, regardless, a good chief will pick up on the drivers taste and try adapt to his style , In this instance I believe the trouble is on the one with the wheel ,not the wrench, just getting a car ballpark close should provide respectable finishes, not tore up equipment, everything is easy from the view of a chair, its too bad for Kraig, the pressure is on, and he's under a bunch of watchfull eyes, Paul had his chances and didnt deliver, again ,too bad, Agreed ,and JMO, I would like to see TK wheel the #20, just once ! remember ,Its a tuff game, keeping a seat?

It's pretty clear to me that there's something behind the scenes going on with this program. The Dude didn't forget how to drive, nor did Paulie or Kraig.
What's going on? We might never know. There are a few things that can really trash a drivers current value. A poor motor builder can be sending out brand new motors that don't run well, crew members could be sabatoging the situation for numerous reasons, or the car might be an experimental piece for a motor or chassis builder and the driver is the guinea pig.
Sometimes an owner pledges loyalty to a part or product and it's not to a driver's liking or even a good fit to the program, but contracts have been signed and money or free parts have changed hands.
Stewart may not even give a rip about this program doing well. With chevy on board and BassPro, this thing could be a cash cow for him whether it runs up front or last in the "B".
Even if you got a guy that was a big gasser and didn't worry too much about set-ups, I don't know if that car's going to get near the front.

As of right now it looks like alot of people are noticing the car and talking about it. Sponsors pay for that. Even if a driver and car are not at the front it seems cameras point that way. Blaney could lead a race all damn day and get 3 seconds on air, while Gordon or Jr cruise in 39th. Point, Kraig could cruise in last and cameras still point to him for whatever reason.

How can having to replace cars after every race be a cash cow for anyone? I am not putting the blame on Kraig or Jimmy but something hasn't been working for the last couple of years.

TK did drive one of the 20s, on loan, at Knoxville and junked it in the B. Of course, he blamed it on someone else. He's lucky he didn't kill himself! Roll cage all bent up and the car in pieces. I bet Tony liked that.
TK is a better than average driver. He's a top dog at any race. If it were me, I'd surely make some changes. Change the crew chief first and see what happens. Then try Brooke Tatnell.
I don't believe for a minute Tony doesn't care where the 20 runs, BS!

Put Jason Johnson in that car, and get a new face in there. He may junk everyone elses car, but he's gonna get to the front while doing it!

So, let me get this straight. Thus far we have the following opinions:
A: Smoke doesn't care where the car finishes or how many get destroyed because it's free parts.
B: Smoke doesn't care where the car finishes or how many get destroyed because it gives the sponsors publicity.
C: It's the fault of the last 3 drivers, despite comparing current finishes on the whole to what the results were before and after sitting in this particular seat.
D: Maybe it's the crew chief/motor builder/parts.
Well, after listening to the motor in the 20 at Eagle the last year that Danny was in it, and see the finishes/results since then, I'd quickly eliminate C. And when you consider these drivers' records overall, it only adds credence to my theory.
I have a REALLY hard time believing A & B also. How can you make money like that?? Someone will have to 'splain that to me.
I am lucky enough to work at one of the best tracks
anywhere.

Even Schatz seems to have lost a couple of tenths simply by putting TSR on the side of the trailer... Smoke himself seems to be the common denominator...lol? Lord, I apologize...
Swapping Warner and Carr would probably be beneficial, especially since Schatz seemed to manage alright without Warner the beginning of last year. I highly doubt Warner would go for it however being paid a percentage? It would probably be a easier sell having him call the shots on BOTH cars?
They don't even know how to spell sprint car

I have seen him at the track he is always stressing out about the racecar if they put him in charge of both teams he will have a heart attack and be dead before he is 40!!

Isn't Carr the General Manager of TSR? If so, I don't think he is going anywhere, lol. I know that they have the best of the best when it comes to equipment, so that is definitely not it, but whatever the issues, it is not doing any good for anyone right now. I like Paulie Mac, but he really wasn't the calibur of Danny, and he claimed there was alot of R&D going on. Kraig has not raced sprints full-time for a couple of years, so that "may" be the reason for the slow start.
I might be in the minority here, but I really don't think Carr is the reason. He is one of the most respected crew chiefs in the business and has been for a long time. People claim drivers don't forget how to drive, well crew chiefs don't forget what they have learned either. If I had a World of Outlaws sprint car team, Jimmy Carr would be on the short list of crew chiefs I would want running my team.
Let's just let this play out and see if Kraig can get it turned around, or if Tony grows angry and puts someone else in the car. It is Tony's decision anyway, not any of us on the message boards, lol!

Drivers don't forget how to drive and crew chiefs don't forget what they have learned but don't they have to keep looking for new ways to make the cars/motors go faster? Isn't that the crew chief's job?

You have got to be kidding! Whether you like TK or not (apparently you dont) doesnt matter the facts speak volumes about his ability. In case you were not on planet earth in 2006 I will refresh your memory...TK was the 2nd ranked driver in all of sprint car racing. I suppose to pinheads like you that is just "better than average". Oh and by the way that deal in Knoxville was not TK's fault video proves it but go ahead and live in make believe land. TK doesnt need Tony Stewart, he has a quality ride that allows him to race anywhere and everywhere. Not that Tony and Tim are not pals, they are. TK is a true outlaw and he proves it everytime he hits the track.
Cheers!

all i know is that since paul mcmahan has left TSR and went to an under budgeted team and he looks pretty good. He has taken Ferkels equipment (a one car team out of rick's one car garage)and ran probably better w/ the outlaws this year then he did last year under the so called crew chief jimmy carr. Jimmy knows how to run a team really well but i don't think hes the guy to make the car perform!
do it in the dirt

Having TK and Tyler Walker racing with the local talent in Nor Cal is a blessing out here. The last thing I want to see is any of them piloting that #20. You wont find better racing anywhere then what was displayed in Tulare last week! Chico is going to be off-the-hook this weekend!!
