They will race side x side. Knoxville, for the nationals and I'm sure a few more throughout the season. It will be interesting to see what woo does when HL teams come thru the gates.
|
That is true assuming everyone enters Knoxville. I know Knoxville is a big deal but one never knows until it happens. Maybe some teams will be tired or needing shop time badly.

They are going to do the same thing they did when Allstar teams came thur the gates. I don't see what all the commotion is about. It is last year's HL + the Allstars. Has anyone given any thought to the possibility that some of the tracks dropped could not or would not pay the increased purse HL will pay. The Alllstar purse wasn't much better than a weekly show at Knoxville and many of the Ohio & Pa. tracks, that needed to change.

True. But, this upcoming year HL is taking teams that were a stable part of woo traveling circus. I for one say wait and see.
Brent Marks is the big name coming out of central pa. He made a lot of dollars running the schedule that he did. Many of these teams going with HL including Marks will expenses that are going to double. WoO pays double the tow money that HL is offering.

Sweet and Gravel - Equal each other out.
Abreu and Macedo - Equal each other out.
Marks is better that Schuchart
Schatz and Eliason - Equal each other out. I am talking about how they ran the last few years. For Schatz to be better he needs someone that Rico has.
Scelzi and Bayston - Equal each other out.
Peck and Haud - Equal each other out.
Allen is better than Gass.
Day is better than Rose
Thorson and Balog - Equal each other out.
Windom is better than Crawley.
Looks to me they are pretty even at the top. With the HL having more drivers and a deeper quality field.
|
I don't think Marks is better than Schuchart at all. I think that they are equivalent with possibly a slight advantage to Schuchart.
Schatz and Eliason are not equivalent at all. I like Eliason, but there is no way he's as good as Schatz.
Scelzi is better than Bayston. Scelzi and the 18 car are top 5, maybe even top 3.
Day is way better than Rose. Rose was a good driver in his day, but now he's doing it for fun. Corey Day is one of the best I've seen in a long time and will be a top 5 car.
Windom is definitely better than Crawley and also better than Allen and Rose. Put him in a top car with a good chief and he'll win some races.
The big wild card is Sunshine. He'll be top 3 wherever he goes.
Of course this is all my opinion.

Sure, why not? Maybe the top 5 in each series skip the Knoxville Nationals and take the time to rest up for the rest of the season. It could happen. It won't, but it could, using your line of thinking.
Or, as Mike Meyers said in Wayne's World "Yeah, and monkeys might fly out of my butt!".

I can't say I could give Windom the nod over Allen, Big Daddy hasn't done much in the winged world. What is the big deal about Courtney, we all know he can kick some butt. Brent Marks proved that running an unconventional schedule can work , why can't Sunshine and the team pick and choose where and when they run without being committed to any group. He is a threat to win anywhere at any time.

You might be right. I'm from way out on the West coast, so I didn't see Windom run in person with a wing. I remember how good he is in a wingless car, though. Granted, only a few guys can transition to winged like Courtney did, but I think Windom has the skills to get it done albeit with a longer trajectory. If I remember correctly he ran quite consistently with the All Stars last year. Sure it's not the same level of competition, but it's not insignificant either. Jacob Allen is one of my very favorite drivers, so I don't mean any disrespect to him.

I only started doing it for people that may have poor memories and to shut you up. It isn't working. Most folks here don't need it. Maybe you should start by writing stuff down?

Strawman, good post, but.
Sweet is obviously better than gravel. Gravel knocks on the door, but, sweet keeps winning the championship
Rico and Macedo. I'll give you that one.
Marks and Logan. You have to pick Logan. He's been on tour how many years ? His knowledge of tracks will give him an advantage over Marks.
Shatz and Eliason. Your kidding right. Eliason is lucky to be top 10
Peck and Lil haud. Peck all day, I think Sheldon needs to race smarter
It should be Allen and Windom. Draw
Gas and Rose. Draw
Day and Balog. Day is a wheelman I think he's going to be the surprise of the year.
Thorson and Crawley. Pick em
It will be interesting to see how many stay on tour on the HL side of things. Remember, a lot of these guys ran all stars which didn't have to go cross country. Good manpower is going to be difficult for some of these teams.
|
Marks still has more high profile wins than does Logan. Logan a lot of nights just doesn't have it. He breaks or just plain doesn't run good. BTW I like Logan he is probably my favorite outlaw.
Over the last few years Schatz is lucky to be top 10 as well. Every once in a great while mixing in a win. They are equal. Rico has who Schatz needs to be great again.
Let's go Sprint Car Racing!
Knoxville - Best Track In the USA!
Eldora - 2nd Best Track in the USA!

Marks WoO wins : 14
Schuchart WoO wins : 41
Million was non-WoO too which is obviously a "high profile" win.
Just for reference. Thought it would be good to add some stats to the mix.

Considering Outlaw wins for the last 45 years have been a standard to determine the top sprint car drivers, this is interesting to compare the fields. Both series have awesome lineups for 2024.
