Yea if he isn't going to take it why would they think someone else will. They might as well get rid of that gimmick. As far as him winning so many I said all along if he wins too many of them car count counts will drop. Even the one where Macri outdrove him for the win he whined about the problems that caused him to lose.
|
I agree. I am a big Kyle Larson fan, but I don't really think he should be driving in it's races. Yes, he will bring fans to the events, but drive some drivers away. I don't see that helping sprint car racing. It gives him a place to race mid week, but winning could be counter productive. A bounty on him with an automatic midpack starting position, if he qualifies for the A Main, might be something to try. Didn't they so something like that at the race they had last season?

Kudos to Danny Dietrich last night. I thought he was making a mistake by racing the Gass car, but he has shown improvement every race. It will be interesting to see how he does when the High Limits races at Grandview and Bridgeport later this year. Tracks he has won at in the past.

If he continues to win then I think a bounty is a good idea. They had one on Sheldon at the Wayne County race a couple of weeks ago which Larson ended up collecting. I didn't feel like he stunk up the show last night though. Circumstances more fell his way than anything. You don't expect the top three cars to all fall out (Dietrich, Marks, PPM) and then Rico's car went away completely with less than 10 to go.

The series is turning into a sham. Seems like they're making up the rules as they go. I appreciate Sweet for his thoughts on the poor call.. Rico brought out the yellow and should have been sent to the rear, different track and different flagging is a weak excuse. These guys have been around the block more than a few times and have seen all kinds of tracks and all kinds of officiating. That call was wrong all day long. Hey lets add another car to the dash to make up for our mistake, make sure its a Cali driver though. Yeah, the dice roll wasn't what the front row was looking for so lets roll the dice again to see if they'll take the challenge, why not roll the dice three times if the starting position is not good enough? Larson prolly could have won from 11th. Maybe Larson should just stick to driving, maybe he should have been penalized himself for stopping on the track, he wasn't having a safety issue. As Brad mentioned, there will be some growing pains I'm sure they are looking deeply into last nights fiasco.

kyle larson starting a series so more teams have a shot at bigger purses...but then kyle larson winning those bigger purses...seems to defeat the whole purpose. especially after he won $1 million at north wilkesboro. i'm not sure i know a way around it. he draws a crowd so everyone wants him racing. it would be awkward to win and then give the money to 2nd place. i wouldn't expect him to half ass it so somebody else can win.
tricky situation.

Here is a simple fix to this: Beat him on the track. Don't pound the wall and flip. Don't run into another car who is having mechanical trouble. Don't get nervous when he shows you a nose and start making mistakes.
Tired of him winning? Then beat him!

If the problems with Flo are true and continue, this is the beginning of the end for High Limit.

I havn't had any problems with FLO. I don't expect Indy 500 type coverage though for a niche streaming service.
Only slight annoyance is if you switch from one race to another you have to endure a whole minute of commercial. But that's how they keep the service so cheap too, so I don't really mind that either. Funny the stuff "fans" will bitch about in 2023.

But not as tricky as him making officiating decisions in a race he is competing in...that can't happen again ever.
|
Totally true! I did not see it (thanks Flo) but heard about that. That is why the series owner/promoter should never be allowed to race in his series or own or have any financial intrest in any team that competes in his series.

And who among the top drivers do you think gets nervous when Larson or anyone else shows them a nose?

You name the driver......and I bet they get nervous. Larson admits he gets nervous about other drivers - so why wouldn't another driver get nervous when Larson is right there on your tail tank ready to make a pass.
Let's go Sprint Car Racing!
Knoxville - Best Track In the USA!
Eldora - 2nd Best Track in the USA!

One side note - I would hope that Tri-City would invest in some catch fencing upgrades in the future - it's not overly high, there's no tire deflector at the top, & it looks to be fairly flimsy with small, widely spaced poles & no cable reinforcement. Just my 2 cents, otherwise a nice looking facility!
When in doubt, gas it!!

Bingo! Either get to work and make your program better to get faster or don't show up. No one is forcing anyone to be there. And it's partly his series so he can make whatever rules he wants to from wherever he wants to as it's the perks of investing your own money into the program. A lot of this is typical people complaining just because they need to complain to function. I don't care if Larson made the call from the seat, if the opposite call was made, or any other call people would be on here and social media blasting him or the series. As you said above, don't run into another car, etc
For years people have been spewing about other tracks getting major dates, purse increases, helping mid-level teams and not just outlaw teams, and other special events. Now someone does it and people do what people do which is complaining basically saying, "no! They need to do it my way because I demand satisfaction and even though I don't have anything invested other than a subscription I am using anyway, they need to do it my way." Sometimes I wonder if anyone on here has had anything good happen to them in life or do they complain about everything.

Of course he is going to race. He wants to race sprint cars but he's busy on weekends. That is the whole point of the new series. Paul Silva tried to get other sanctioning bodies to host high paying, mid week races and they weren't interested.
Apparently World Racing Group thought it would be a dumb idea to host mid week races that Larson would both attend and help promote.

I dont care how much money he did or didn't put in or whether it's his series or not, you cannot override a call your series officials made while you're on the track racing in the event in which the call was made. Its a total bush league move and a bad look for the series.

I think both Brad and Kyle admitted that was not the right call. I can gurantee it will never happen again...How much do you want to beat a dead horse. It happened, they are sorry it did, They tried to rectify the situation with Swindell and Sanders....now let's move on!!!!

Yea, Kyle wins a lot, but you really can't complain about watching him win from 8th
He brings in fans, right? Outlaws had plenty of fans when Kinser & Schatz were dominating
But he shouldn't be allowed to officiate when he's a competitor...

I think you all are way more concerned with Larson racing the event he's promoting than the actual drivers. Marks won quite a bit of money last year and Larson was at several events he won. Bottom line is, these guys are racers and they think they've got just as good of a shot as anyone more often than not. They've got to have an inordinate amount of confidence in themselves, or why even do it?
Also, will the same amount of complaining occur when Sweet wins 50K at Lernerville? I highly doubt it. Yes, Larson is a freak, but shit happens constantly. Guys miss setups, parts break, etc. I don't think Larson gets by Dietrich or Marks as good as they were if they don't have those issues..

It happened 2 days ago, hardly beating a dead horse.
