I noticed that they left Mike Cleck paving help with the racing surface again for this year.  We would like to go to Port but they havn't a clue!  I am sure the fans will just love being hit by those pebbles from the "new clay".

I will be at Lincoln, Selinsgrove, Williamsgrove, Eldora, Oskaloosa, and knoxville for my racing pleasure.  PRS is the closest track to my house and that is what the shame of all this is.....Please find the keys to the water truck.

Is this the first thing you think about when you wake up every morning????

It was bad Saturday for the WOO LM's, but they will have it right again this Saturday for the 10G and Sunday for the 29G and the spints will be running with the RR up along the fence with passing galore as usual. Please let me know when Lincoln pays 29G to win a race. That will be a day to mark on the calender.

Yes, I have messaged Razor Steve on multiple occasions.  I also talked to the other Steve a few years back when he was helping prepare the track.  They know exaclty how I feel and where I stand.

How about talking face to face?  Many people don't put a lot of stock into what people say anonymously online.  He might take you more serious if you would seek him out at the races and tell him why you don't like it and maybe offer some help or suggestions.  But in all seriousness why do you keep going back if you've had so many bad experiences?  You've heard the definition of insanity right?  And what do you accomplish by ripping the track on here week after week?

He does not go. He says that he goes to all these other tracks but, he used to have a race counter with his posts that he does not use anymore because he does not want anybody to know how few races he actually attends. He judges all tracks on video highlights and heresay. Last Saturday was not good  but I heard other track were the same. It was in the ninties and windy all day. I don't mind dry slick if they can race on it. He thinks lap times determine the race quality and that is not always the case.

You are very wrong! There are more important things I want for my signature that how many races I go to in a year. I will be attending 30 or 31 races this year, if you need to know. Just not at Port. I will NEVER go to Port as long as Razor Steve is preparing the track or lack there of. That place could be great however if we get a few drops of rain on race day they will cancel. Just like the last two days. They could have raced last night and I bet they could race tonight if they wanted.  Razor Steve will think the track will be too fast and that they should cancel. I was at Selinsgrove for the monster trucks last night and yes it was colder than normal but only a few sprinkles. Why didn't port race? Today so far just a few sprinkles here in McAlisterville....nothing more. It is a race after all, it isn't on how slow can you go.....just saying.

I watched Port the last time they raced on dirtvison and it was horrible "Outlaw Late models and 410 show" not just that race but the all year.

On a side note.....I hope they find and prosecute the idiot that ripped up the track sometime between Friday night and Saturday morning. I saw a driver posted about it on his twitter page Saturday afternoon.

Let's go Sprint Car Racing!

If in warmups the lap times are in the mid 15 second bracket you should leave that place....cause all you are going to see is a slip and slide all night long and that equals no fun racing period.  Just like Eldora needs to be around high 12 to low 13 seconds, Knoxville needs to be in the low to  mid 15 bracket, Selingrove needs to be in the low 16 second bracket, Williamsgrove needs to be in the higher 16 second bracket to see a better than average feature by the end of the night.  That isn't an opinion that is a fact....Jack!

Yes track would be been to fast for some of their favorite boys.  Port Royal track preparers and a couple of their favorite drivers don't like water!  I will not go tomorrow and will go to Lincoln instead.

is there any reading on how you prepare a track?  it gets thrown around all the time that they didn't prepare it right without many specifics about how they decide when to water it, put the push tracks out, etc.  "running in the top" with push trucks makes sense.

i'm still in the old school where i ask people to back up what they say with facts and showing they have some knowledge base.  people should expect the same from me.

i've seen the grove and lincoln so uneven this year that cars flipped over early in heat races.  you got a little out of the groove and the car was bouncing up and down.  that would seem like bad track prep.  i've never seen that at port royal.  it always seems smooth and at least not dangerous.

by the way...i thought the decisions to postpone by port royal were the right ones.  everybody would whine if they tried to have the race, a shower showed up, and they postponed with everybody there.  it's been misty all day at least in mechanicsburg.

Sure the Port is smooth because it is hard and dry just like asphalt.

Sprint cars catching the cushion and bicycling is nothing new. Been happening since sprint cars were a thing.

"Is there any reading on how you prepare a track?"

I wish there was. Seems like its somewhere in that netherworld between art & science. I'd like to see a good article about it in SC&M!

Lots of people here debate about track prep, but all I can tell is if the race was competitive or not. Don't care about lap times either (within reason). Its a mystery to me....

One thing I suspect is that alot of it has to do with type of dirt available in the area, rather than how you work it...

And above all else, nothing effects track conditions more than weather. The guy on the grader doesn't have shit on what mother nature can do.

Did anyone catch the TV version of Winged Nation this past Saturday and the interview with Brent Marks?   He was highly complimentary of Port Royal and it's track prep.   Would think his opinion would count more than any of us yahoos on here...
