It's sad that what Larson has earned YTD in sprints/midgets might equal 1 nascar race.

I noticed that same thing.  I didn't know you could drive through the infield, inside the corner tire and have the lap count.

It sure was amazing though....

I'm not sure if it's against the rules but I remeber thinking to myself that it's probably a good thing that I gave up photography.  wink

It's not really sad, it's just economics.  Sprint car racing is grassroots and Nascar is the big leagues.  They don't get paid for the excitement.  They get paid for the $$$ they can bring in from the gates, the sponsors, and in Nascar's case, the commercials during the broadcast.  As much as some think Nascar is dead, it's still brining in exponentially higher dollars.  I know what you're saying, but the way it is, is the way it is.

That was absolutely incredible. I've never in my 30+ years of watching sprint cars seen a 2 lap comeback like that to win. I think that solidifies my opinion that Kyle Larson is the best winged sprint car driver I've ever watched in my life. I've never seen anyone drive like him. Pure talent behind the wheel. I literally stood up off my recliner and yelled "HOLY SHIT" as they crossed the line.

Someone at my house stood up and yelled holy shit at the same time and I don't think it was your echo.

That last lap was incredible.  I'm curious to see if he runs some Late Model races and if he does how well it goes.  He made it clear last night that it was his first time racing at Grand Forks which is amazing when most of the other drivers have been there multiple times.  Schatz started out racing around the upper Midwest and has run there in both Sprints and Late Models so there is a lot of experience in the field.

Yeah, that was kinda hairy looking. Amazing car control as always from this kid. The track might want to change the infield safety policy a bit.

Nellie, Logan didn't try to take him out, Larson came down and Logan wasn't lifting. Just hard racing as they say.

Not sure what race you were watching, but nobody all night was running lower than the 57 in 3 and 4.     You can say what you want about the 4 wheeler guy in the corner, but had the 1S turned the 57 any more than he did, it wouldve been a completely different ending.  Like MSPN said.  Massive amount of car control  there to do what he did.  I do agree it was a racing  deal though, and not intentional.

Same here, I'm a huge Shark Racing Fan and want Logan to win the WoO championship.

But what Larson did last night was damn near unprecedented

I think the tap by Logan was intentional from the video and I'm super glad no one got hurt in the infield. That would be a tough pill to swallow knowing ( I'm assuming) you could have avoided the contact.

The 57 went into 1 very hard looked real determined after the white flag andogan seemed to lose some traction or momentum coming out of 2.

Even though I may not know you, I
care what most of you think!

Maybe dirtlover can put the stats together for us.   Oh wait, he's the one that think Larson's never done anything...

Just did it again... this is nuts!

I couldn't find  his 2020 record anywhere, so I added up his Chili Bowl, USAC Midget,  Pa. Speedweek, Allstar & WoO records. I might have missed something

Chili Bowl: 2 for 2

USAC: 4/6

Pa. SW: 4/9

Allstars: 12/16

Outlaws 9/19

Total: 31/52,  59% wins

But wait.... winning Pct. vs WoO: 47%, vs. Posse: 44%, therefore.... POSSE RULES!!! wink

Seriously, this year for Larson has been like somebody wrote a movie script... but nobody would believe it

He was great again last night at Red River Valley.  He just makes different moves than Others.  Seems to be able to drive the car harder than everyone else when the time is right for it.   Those moves he was making on the bottom to pass cars last night in turn 1 were nuts.  There was barely enough room and he passed several that way on the extreme bottom.

Agreed. I don't think his car was any better than the others in the top 5.

Exhibit A.  Kyle sweeps Outlaws weekend on two tracks he had never seen before.  Brad Sweet says he hopes that his Christmas present to his brother-in-law will be a return to NASCAR.  I think the Outlaws who have been considered the rulers of the dirt are beginning to get frustrated from getting beat up every time  he shows up.

Meanwhile it's giving me more respect for the talents of all NASCAR drivers because Kyle does not dominate them like he does the Outlaws.  My crude statistical research says Kyle doesn't win very often in NASCAR + Kyle beats up on All Stars, the Outlaws and USAC Midgets = NASCAR drivers might be better than I thought they are.

Re: NASCAR I wish I could find the thread not sure if it was here or elsewhere where they had done a bunch of calculations about strength of car/pit crew and I think Larson was basically outperforming what he should have in the 42.  While I definitely want to see him run a full season on dirt (this season for all the negatives of COVID has been amazing to allow an escape for a few hours a night) I'd also love to see what he could do in top tier equipment.

Suppose the guy running in second place bonks into the guy running in first and the leader spins into the infield. What's the official WoO rule about restarting?

But, there's not one driver in the cup garage (possibly Bell) that can do what Larson is doing at this level of sprint car racing.

I just think dirt & pavement are 2 totally different skills, as are NASCAR & sprint cars
