I don't have a dog in this fight as Husets is five hours and there are closer destinations and this year mostly PPV but I have an observation and a question. My observation is that some of the new tracks I saw open or existing tracks that reopened after a couple years struggled to fill fields and eventually closed for good.
Tracks might run top classes like 410's at some point but they depend on what most Sprint Car fans consider junk classes to keep the doors open. Junk classes or entry classes are generally from the communities adjacent to the track and draw family and friends to every race. When tracks shut their gates for a number of years people move onto other tracks or in some cases get out of racing entirely. It has been my observation that luring those racers back after they have been doing something else for three or four years was an insurmountable obstacle in some cases. Fans except for the most hard core have found other things to do as well. I'm not saying it's impossible to do a reboot but what I mentioned is a reality I have seen play out at other places like Fox Ridge and St. Croix Valley.
They will be in the position of having to turn a profit as quickly as possible and may have to offer incentives to build the fields. Racers usually have more leverage than tracks in deciding where and when to race. It will be a challenge and will require time to ride things out and build it back up. I wish them all the best, they have done a world class job at Jackson and worked some miracles so far in this difficult season.

Common symptoms of often impending race track demise:
1. switch nights
2. go to a "limited" schedule
3. combination of 1 and 2 - limited schedule and not on the same night
For Huset's sake, I hope whomever gets the place - if they indeed do - doesn't need to make a profit. As Stan said, it's gonna be tough to make a profit even if they get it for pennies on the dollar.
I prefer covered granstands, pagodas, and white wash, but won't deny that it's a beautiful facility. It would be a darn shame to see it go to weeds. It's a darn shame to see any of them go to weeds - even if there was lots of weeds when they were running.

Some consider me to be a trouble maker but I made my living in railroad accounting and transportation so I'm always looking at the numbers and intangibles. I don't wish bad on any race track or promoter but sometimes I bring up the uncomfortable realities that most racing fans would rather ignore. For a guy who is damn near 70 and watching all of his 2020 racing on PPV my name has come up among the movers and shakers that shouldn't care about some old guy watching on TV. Anyways, glad that you saw some good in my questions as those are valid concerns.

Sounds like things are progressing as we had hoped.
Shallow Hal, I hope you are right and no b mods and rotating 410s, 360s and LMs

TQ has an incredible opportunity to build something here with two tracks 100 miles apart. A true hobby/beginner/budget class of sprint cars is a great way to build a future. Hoping to see a lot of barn finds racing around his tracks next year.

Nice to see the ascoc getting awfully close to my home, albeit 15 hrs away but I think that will be the oldest they have ever been. With the border posed it's a moot point at this time bit, serious question... isnt Husets kind of far from where the Ascoc usually roam? Seems kind of far from Ihio for them, NO???
Not complaining, I see why they want to be a part of the rebuild etc etc.
Even though I may not know you, I
care what most of you think!

They were scheduled for Jackson on the 31st . When this deal got put together, (and Minnesota was so hard to have a race in) the show was moved to 34 Raceway which was on the way to Knoxville and (i assume) Tod booked them to Husets on Sunday night, rather than run them so far west on friday, then back east to Knoxville. This gives him a rain date also, and pretty much unlimited ticket sales. Win. Win. Win!

Hell yeah! Thanks Tod, and congratulations on the new track! I went to Husets every Sunday night with my dad and I'm looking forward to taking my kids there. So glad the track is finally in good hands!

Heard it fell through. It's the rumor anyhow but not for sure. Wouldn't be surprised either way but would be extremely disappointed. SD deserves weekly 410 sprint cars back and Husets is a top notch track.

My source sucks... I'm going to have to re-evaluate his credibility.
Awesome news! So happy for Todd, SD, and all the Midwest. The only thing I might see that this doesn't benefit as much would be fans around the Jackson Area. Looks like moving events to a track in a state with fewer regualtions might be the norm for a bit. Doesnt hurt that Husets is way more racey of a joint than Jackson for sprints. Luckily for those fans Brandon SD isn't too far.

Jackson not racey, that is funny shit. You must not have been at the last 2 years of the nationals and pretty much any weekly show.

Some of my honest questions have not been well received but this is not about my experiences and is great news for South Dakota fans. At five hours to Husets and six hours to Knoxville my solution in the past was to drive the extra hour but I have been to Husets a few times. My wife's aunt's brother in law was killed in a 360 wreck there and her late brother built engines mostly for the Stock Car class out of Flandreau. We stayed at her mother's house and went to the Memorial race. It's a neat little track and I'm glad this was finally resolved so they can build things back to the previous level.
Speaking of truthful statements I'll make a prediction. It's no secret that before it was sold to the loan shark they were struggling with fields and I remember seeing counts in the mid teens in the results. I predict that based on what they did with Jackson they will not only bring it back but will make it better than it was in it's first time around as Husets. This team has an impressive track record over at Jackson so I would expect nothing less than excellence. I'll be watching their progress on the hdtv in the cat cave.

Great news! You are wrong aboout Jackson not being racey, that was the old Jackson.
I went to the Jackson Nationals 2018 and 2019, well run, well supported by the community, great track prep and surface. Very racey in my opinion. My only small beef was the lack of lodging options in town.
Now that Huset's is back, the travelling sprint series will have another option for scheduling. As far as resurrecting the local crowd and local racers, it will take some patience and time....I personally think the midwest 410 tracks should organize their schedules to PROMOTE the 410 class along with local and travelling 360's and 305"s.
We lived in Sioux Falls in the early 90's, as I remember, the Rubin family survived on the local fendered classes with 360's and 305's? Short 410 fields other than the big shows. It is a tough track for 410 drivers, lot's of passing lappers for the leaders.
No matter what Mr. Quiring does, the fun factor is back for Sioux Falls. I hope the WoO has a date next to the Jackson Nationals next year, I'll be there.
